There's two types of "big media" in the world, which we can categorize as either being an MLP or a HS. Moomins? That's an MLP Lord of the rings? That's a HS. Anytime in space that a Homestuck exists, a my little pony will come into being. Fandoms will have a tendency to meddle with these two, and ruin them if possible. The creators will often self sabotage and burn out. When they don't, they stay peak.

She's gotten the upper hand on Twilight like, once (Alicorn Amulet), and from there on out Twilight is just too powerful for her to overcome in any meaningful sense. It's like Vriska and Eridan. It might work, but in most normal canon settings, she's likely to burn out very quickly. Pinkie is going to be a great moirail (if following early characterization), because she's super emotionally intelligent. But she's a little overwhelming with her zaniness. She's also the type to get bored pretty quickly and wander off, so she might not be able to listen to fluttershy's animal autism. She'd definitely try, but she's gonna be wiggling around and getting distracted easily after around 10 minutes. I also disagree with the apple <> rainbow hypothesis, mostly because they actually struggle a lot to be bros. It's definitely possible, but rainbow is more the type to antagonize Applejack and vice versa. They could be in a situation where they keep pushing each other to do better, but that screams either black or red to me.My ultimate logic for rainbow <> pinkie is that they balance eachother out. Rainbow can keep up with pinkies antics and pinkie can keep rainbow from being too mean when she pranks ponies. Rainbow knows when to tell pinkie she's being a little too much and can tard wrangle her. Pinkie can keep up with rainbow and stop her from getting bored. Neither entirely shares the others hobbies, but they can get enjoyment out of them without getting bored. Twilight <> fluttershy because their autism would align perfectly. Twilight can keep fluttershy from becoming a total hikikomori and fluttershy can keep twilight more down to earth than the other girls can. Fluttershy's focus on kindness would also help balance out twilights inner bitchy attitude. This is why equius hates them, he sees all seadwellers as usurpers of the natural order. Based off Equius's hemophobia, ganzees statements about his hive/caste/religon and the seadwellers, we can surmise that the majority of purple bloods either live like him or are in even more subpar conditions. Pinkie, imho, fits great into the purple caste. Precisely because she grew up on a farm and she has powers that, at times, rival twilight. Early canon relationship to discord as his favourite element also makes for interesting parallels.
