is it possible for lossless JXL to compete with PNG? Even if we ignore PNG's universal support lossless JPEG-XLs /sometimes/ win in filesizes but greatly lose in system's resource usage

It sounds like a really cool way to do images. And best part is you could technically also use it for video / maybe games.

I'm surprised that Sony actually improved repairability of Dualshocks between DS3 and DS4

both of my controllers had problems with foam that holds circuit film but DS4 was (a) much easier to disassemble (b) didn't require me to buy foam tape or whatever because I could reuse one from the factory (foam on DS3 was shit and couldn't be safely removed) and (c) had better and more flexible rumble motor connection with the main board (I fucked up during DS3 disassemble because I wasn't expecting shit to not be flexible :( )

Is there a list of pony or pony-adjacent tech? Something like awesome-selfhosted, but for pastel horse inspired engineering.
If not, would it be worth the effort to compile one?

Well, day 1 of daily driving GrapheneOS, done
It's going surprisingly good? Back in 2022-2023, the Pixel 3A+Graphene was the most private I could get, a lot has changed since then. MMS/Calling for example was extremely buggy back then, even with it being supported/fairly new. Had to wait minutes for a single text or call. The Pixel 3a is no longer supported, so I got this Pixel 6A off Facebook Marketplace with a screen protector installed for $125, just got my eSim moved from my iPhone this morning
Comfy... I missed this. Very easy for me to make the switch, I'm sure even a normie could

Especially now they even have private space built in so no need to use shelter for spooky apps isolation anymore.

It's true... this is really comfy!!
Just got my x230T in the mail too, planning on installing coreboot through skulls/1vyrain!
With arch+DWM, cause heads+qubes is a schizo level I have unfortunately not reached yet
>>
>>42861651
But anon.. heads is comfy.. if you want to build core/libreboot from scratch just make sure you use the maintainers page for the libreboot docs. It'll save you a lot of frustration.

There's a complete in depth tutorial on YT for the x230, but the docs provided specifically say it's not for the tablet version, I wonder if the x230T model is able to install heads or not, and how different the process would be compared to the one in the video/docs
are (You) running heads, anon?
picrel downgrading bios from 2.66 to 2.58 for 1vyrain
>>
>>42861745
Nope, but from what I saw the heads guide is really well made and rather straightforward.
It's just libre boot that's kinda all over the place docs wise.
For the rest yeah it's pretty comfy stuff.

successfully got 1vyrain to flash skulls onto the x230T, so clean, just missing Intel me disabling capabilities, maybe that will be my next project/goal
pic rel is me successfully building coreboot on the steam deck, can't believe it actually worked kek

Cool! Yeah the deck is a PC after all, kek.
Imfor future building I'd say use docker with debian / whatever to get the tool chains for libre boot or heads. It makes managing dependency slightly less of a headache.
Btw, I'm retarded. You can't upgrade the CPU on x230 I was thinking of t440p.
For the screen it looks like you'll need some kinda lvds board thingamajig to put a 1080p ips panel in there.
From that yeah definitely neuter that ME and put a cute poni as the boot splash.

sup /pts/, I'm currently looking for a phone for my grandfather, what are good inexpensive phones that support Lineage or DivesOS "successor"?
His last two phones had to be replaced because of OEM jeetware on top on Android that made them unusable AND lack of proper suport from said OEMs

like seriously, is normal Android really that hard to ship? What's the point of making your own proprietary ROM just to support it for less than a year?

Depends where you are and how second hand prices are.
If you can find an old poco phone (like an F1 or X3 pro), older OnePlus phones (any that's cheap and on the wiki, with maybe a battery swap for anything oneplus6 and older). Oneplus phones at least don't require you to wait weeks just to unlock the damn bootloader.
Xiaomi and Oneplus will have really decent hardware that's not sluggish for the price so, I'd try these first.
Then, you could also go with pixels if you'd wanna go the graphene route so he's still up to date and secure (like the 6a >>42861180 has it should be the cheapest one that still gets updates from them).
Frankly don't even bother with anything not lineage they never really get support and you can mod 99% of their features into lineage.
Last option of they're really dirt cheap, get him a Samsung phone that's on the wiki they're so common they flood the second hand market. Odin is easy to use to flash lineage.

I'm assuming passing safety net isn't that big a deal for your gramps if he isn't doing any banking on his phone? Else you should try to flash the safety net bypass module magisk has. It's kinda hit or miss though. Same thing for graphene some banking apps work if you disable safety net in the settings on first time setup then re-enable it after you're logged in.

Here if you want a list of devices supported on lineageOS by year: https://cweiske.de/lineage-devices.htm

after successfully installing skulls throug 1vyrain yesterday, or maybe 2 days ago by now, I decided I want more payloads, lul

how difficult is to flash ROMs on Samsung and OnePlus? Only had experience with Huaweis and Xiaomis and both were Chinese pain in the ass

As long as you're using international ROM, it's not THAT bad.

Good, makes everything easier.
>Samsung, Xiaomi and onePlus
>how difficult is to flash ROMs on Samsung and OnePlus? Only had experience with Huaweis and Xiaomis and both were Chinese pain in the ass
Piss easy. You just have to enable dev mode for OnePlus them adb reboot bootloader, fastboot flashing unlock then just fastboot flash boot boot.img and any other partitions that's needed then add -d sideload lineage.zip.
For Samsung you download Odin and just flash the .tar of the rom to APL or something like that. It takes 2 seconds.
I'm impressed you tolerated Huawei now that's a pain!
>>
>>42868683
Nice! Don't forget to get the edk2 payload if you want UEFI support.
>>
>>42868812
>I'm impressed you tolerated Huawei now that's a pain!
some cheap Huawei was my first phone to ROM like 6 years ago (when they still had GApps and stuff)
don't remember the process to be *that* difficult: I was still too retarded to run GNU/Linux and yet managed to install a custom ROM with no longstanding memories of technological horror
>>
>>
>>42868814
Thx! Will look into that
Right now I'm trying to get the menu detect the doom payload I think I got to make into some folders
