Check out Canterlot and Ponyville during the autumn leaves before they disappear. The devs just had an interview a week ago in their Discord, but still haven't posted the interview on their Youtube channel.Come join and live and breathe in Equestria, anon. They have hide & seek games every weekend.GEMS DON'T GROW ON TREES!!! - GODDAMNIT SEASON 5https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90vew1MYoU8
Too late. It's already winter.
>>42873046Winter is coming. Winter is here.
>>42873046I auditioned to be a writer for this game 15 years ago, and I was rejected. We were told to write an example quest, so I did, but apparently it was too basic and was almost universally panned by the devs.
>>42874569Do you still have your quest or remember most of it?Also I heard some of you guys joined the team as either a graphics artist or programmer, can you tell us a little something or leave your Discord and tell us in private?
>>42874596I can't remember the exact instructions, but I got it into my head that it was supposed to be a simple, starting area quest e.g. "Go here, bring back X thing."So I wrote a quest for killing spiders and put a lot of focus on the word choice and phrasing to make it sound like a quest you'd get from WoW as opposed to an excerpt from a story or some random piece of fiction. The devs must have only cared about the content of the writing as opposed to writing technique. In my defense, I think too many writers, especially new writers, are too preoccupied with wanting to make the most epicest thing evar and are woefully bad at depicting reality.>Do you still have your quest or remember most of it?Don't have it, but it wouldn't be hard to reproduce. If you'd like some writing, I'd just need to know how the quests are generally organized so that I can fit mine in without having them stand out like sore thumbs.
>>42874569Which is hilarious cause their writers haven't even written a fanfiction in their lives and their "guidelines" were non existent or a grocery list describing characters how S9 describes them with simple words like shy, fancy, farmer, archeologist, etc.I know why they refused your quest. Not because it was too basic but because it was too easy, most of their quests are hard as balls if you want the full reward cause you get like 30-50 dialogue paragraphs to go through to convince these arrogant annoying NPCs to give you the "full" reward which you can farm for yourself in 5 minutes or less. Most people trial and error the quests by closing and reopening the game 20 times in mid-dialogue session on 6 different characters and follow the wikia. If the quests didn't give +2bank slots each then nobody would do the quests. There's some easy quests, but most of them are Phoenix Wright interrogation tier of bullshittery which is hard as hell for the average intended audience they thought they were making this for: children. They mistook Faust's charming intelligent writing for "overly complex pseudo intellectual bullshittery". To this day they still have some of the fattest ugliest egocentric special eds non writers who refuse to write normal quests, you have like 2 main writers and 4 other secondary writers who refuse to stop writing like an autistic pseud and technical lingo retard. The fireworks quest was hilarious.
>>42873046>writefags, we require your bitch skillsDude, you can just use LLMs and no one will tell the difference. There are even researches on this topic:https://www.octopus.ac/publications/b24g-1d42/versions/latest>>42874668> if you want the full reward cause you get like 30-50 dialogue paragraphs to go through to convince these arrogant annoying NPCs to give you the "full" rewardAre you telling me that they just waste game dialogue on that? In this case they just need to start a chatbot and generate responses, humans don't need to write this garbage.
>>42874690It was a different time back in 2014 and 2017. No LLMs, all we had was Cleverbot.
Damn, does everyone have a history with this game?
>>42874752I played it once. Do I count?
>>42874569I'm pretty sure they managed to piss off their only actual writer who used to be an editor for Equestria Daily's articles and wrote numerous fanfics on Fimfiction. Sadly she didn't write anything but the dialogue for approximately 4 characters and 1 little 30 page pirate adventure story for an in-game lore book since any subsequent books, quests, etc. were once again written by the 2 main chucklefucks behind the game lore who don't understand that they cannot write worth a shit. Half the team are Russians and the other half are second generation immigrant Americans who don't know basic English grammar.Very recently they had a "Meet the team" interview where they kept begging everyone to join their Discord stage call and everyone refused and also refused to ask them personal questions like the devs wanted, it turned into questions about the game instead like it's normal. They said they'd post the link to the video but it's either in their Discord or they realized the interview went wrong, so they didn't post it on Youtube. At one point they even tried to throw shade at the only programmer who can code his way out of a paperbag because he was being called the only capable member around there. He'd leave if he wasn't paid. He's the only paid member.
