Wow, never expected my site would be naturally picked up here, I never chose to advertise it here for fear it may get smutty'd. The funny thing is it did get smutty'd and has been down for about a month because of that, and I'm unsure if I have the will to bring it back online. Cloudflare nuked me without saying anything and when I went snooping the files out of curiosity and found the shit I immediately contacted authorities (as required by law) and hired a lawyer. I had enabled detection for this shit on CF but at some point they disabled it, I believe because they changed how it worked and I needed to check a new box to agree to something.

I'm still in the process of handling it, but because of the amount of risk I realized I was putting myself in I may not bring it back online. I've kept quiet about it for quite a while even to friends because I figured there may be an investigation but after speaking with authorities recently it seems there may not be.

I am in the US and so yes I should be protected, but I got spooked since CF's TOS says they usually contact web hosts over abuse so the content can be taken down, but they didn't. Was there any reason behind that other than giving a permastorage service to your friends? It feels to me like having a service that (public) users believe isn't permanent, but then actually storing everything permanently anyway, is a pure liability, since with your disclaimer nobody was going to use it for permanent storage anyway (without being in the know) yet you're exposing yourself to exactly this situation appearing.
Having a content policy that says "All files will be deleted in 72 hours. Was unaware of the full story on this, didn't know he didn't monitor the abuse email. I have the abuse email on my site forwarding to my main email through CF, I never received any abuse reports from anyone or CF, DNS just stopped resolving entirely one day (not even resolving to CF itself)

ponut.space ran for a little over 2 years iirc, it was super useful and good amongst my particular circle in this community. I realize now how wide open I left myself, though I still put some blame on CF for disabling the CSAM detection when I had explicitly enabled it (which at the time required me to get an ID with NCEMC so CF could file a report on my behalf, the change was they no longer filed that report for you, which is why you had to go back and check the box saying you would do so yourself, as required by law).

All in all I have no idea what will become of the site, or if CF will even give me my domain back, if there are any updates on this I'll report back in this thread, but I wouldn't expect anything soon.

I've been considering multiple ways that I could have the site go back up and still cover my ass. The issue with an invite tree is that it's too difficult to make it retard-proof. When you give an invite to a friend, you can't guarantee for sure that a friend of a friend of your friend won't be a pedo as the invite spreads. But if you limit the "tree nuking" to just one level, then it's way too easy for a pedo to invite themselves twice and thus break the link.
Cock.li had a thing where new accounts would take like 6 months to be allocated a couple of invite codes but they already had a lot of existing accounts whereas if you launch a new site this way it will absolutely strangle anyone's ability to create new accounts. Maybe it could work if combined with judicious manual invites to people who you know are alright. But yeah it gets thorny fast, you still have the tree-nuking problem, and cockli ended up getting rid of their invite scheme eventually and I'm not sure why - could be because they decided it wasn't worthwhile after all.

If you don't suspend their account, and they're caught uploading CP again, then you can be on the hook for allowing a known distributor to continue having access to your site and uploading material. So you have a responsibility to ban them and delete their account.
Meanwhile if you don't have accounts and all uploads are anonymous, you simply do not have this responsibility.

Or for instance if you don't proactively moderate but rather act on abuse reports, you are responsible for acting fast when reported but that's it. Yeah sometimes they'll fuck with you because you're adding extra work, but it's not impossible to operate properly this way (see: catbox). I've just released a new pony site called PonyAggregate

IDK if this counts as "archive" but I've been running scraping script against nhnb's api ever since DO4E. It was meant to be a temporary solution to not loose any data until I make a "proper public archive". But I still haven't gotten around to it and at this point doubt ever will. But scraper script still runs every 15 minutes on my vps to this day. I can log in and check if its still working and upload the data that it got if you want.

Anonymous uploads are now fully supported on PonyAggregate. You can upload the data there if you want, but I recommend uploading it as an archive format to save time since attachments can only be uploaded one by one at the moment (something else I should change, now that I think about it).

I manage a few archives like sim, spanking, momlestia etc. And Ive put the greens as "unlisted", the thinking was that i'd flood the sites search function with hundreds of stories if i didn't. But, if I understand it correctly, unlisted stories does not get saved in any backup? I don't have any backups myself anymore. So if the site dies there are no saves of the archives?

How come that twibooru's image ID almost 60000 behind derpi's?
If it imports everything from derpi and poner and people also upload, shouldn't it be ahead instead of behind?

Yes, but 60k is a lot. Especially when twibooru imports from multiple sources AND there are almost 60k images which was uploaded to twibooru directly. And about 60k images which were imported from other sources than derpi.
So in total this would mean that 180k images (60k behind + 60k direct upload + 60k other imports) were deleted as spam from derpi? That would mean every 20th upload is deleted.

I never realized that twibooru (and others) are missing this much deleted images. Factoring these in the IDs do add up.

3740k currently on derpi plus 120k direct or other source on twi. Somehow we must arrive at 3860k. Accounting for the 290k missing deleted means twiboorus ID should be around 3570k. Currently it's at 3682k. So now somewhere there are an additional 110k images coming from.

it's not that they are "missing", it's that they weren't imported in the first place due to being originally deleted for being spam. i would say the actual number of images that are deleted but we actually want on the site are less than 10,000 - but it's been awhile since i calculated that, it might be less than 1,000.

You’re including duplicates in the count of deleted images. They aren’t missing, they’re merged.

Twibooru importer seems to miss images. Eg https://derpibooru.org/images/3740832 (and 3740815 which it replaced) was posted more than hour ago and strangely images just before and just after are imported but not this one.
