>>42890731Celestia uses magic mostly with very little in hoof to hoof combat, mostly focused on defensive and non-lethal offensive spells. But if the need arises, she can become a 40k Titan-class Volcano Cannon. Luna uses a mix of enhanced/enchanted spears and lethal, devastating and slightly dark offensive spells. Using magic, she can launch a unobtainium spear so fast it'll break the sound barrier and go right through a large dragon. She's also adept in many ancient hoof to hoof combat techniques. Cadance only knows very basic non-lethal combat spells, focusing almost entirely on healing and defensive spells. Hoof to hoof is near non-existent.Twilights magic is the most powerful, but she's more a jack of all trades, not mastering any one field. She has a small bias towards following Celstrias hoofprints tho. Hoof to hoof is decent but nothing special.

>>42890740Celestia and Luna both can use their mastery of celestial dynamics as weapons. Each has the power to wield celestial bodies in whatever offensive or defensive manner they can imagine. Celestia can rip layers of the sun off and rain them down on adversaries or warp it and focus the power of the sun into a narrow beam which she can fire at will into any target she might choose.
I like to imagine that Celestia tends to use her comparatively superior size and strength to try and gain an immediate advantage over her opponents physically, with the overall goal of making them yield as quickly as possible. Not to say that her magic isn’t devastating in its own way, but her most effective magical tactics boil down to “fuck everything in my horn’s general direction”. In an actual life-or-death combat scenario, her own body is the first thing she relies on.Although it should be noted that she's very proportional in how she uses her physicality. For example, she’s not gonna be dealing earth-shattering kicks and stomps against the average footsoldier of some evil warlord. A good shove or snap of her wing is usually enough for those types. But against a high-level threat like Tirek or Sombra? The gloves be fuckin’ off.
