CoD1/UO/2 multi was awesome back in the early 2000s. No fucking special abilities, classes, achievements, rewards for kills, skins and whatever else ruining todays games. Just pure skill based FPS games.

Good luck playing a single player campaign in that. At least the early CoD games were based on real events and places (even if it was pretty far from historically accurate).

I was implying that if you want a simple multiplayer shooter with no gimmicks you can always play HLDM or Q3 or UT or any other classic arena shooter

No. Just no. There wasn't any weapon pickups on the map itself. You spawned with your single selected two handed weapon (primary) and a handgun (secondary) (+plus grenades and smoke with selected weapons). If you died you dropped your weapon, which another player pick up or exchange for theirs. At most 2 primary weapons and one secondary. Dropped weapons disappear after each round ends. In the most popular game mode (S&D) you did not respawn in the same round (much like bomb in CS). You kept your weapon if you have not died in the round, and it got topped up with ammo at the beginning of the next round.
In CoD2 you could only carry two weapons (any kind).

The dead players dropped health packs (+30 hp if I recall correctly). And unlike modern games a single shot could kill you instantly even from full HP. A shot from a stronger primary weapon (rifles) to the upper body was enough, it did not even had to be a headshot.
And don't forget no sprint either in CoD1 (there was in CoD:UO and CoD2).

Would love to, but all dead. Nobody plays any of them anymore. Yes I know there ARE some players but it's hardly enough to fill a nearby server with low enough ping. These old FPS games suck if you have 70+ms ping.
