I'm surprised nobody here has addressed the VAs yet. I don't mind newer voice actors since it has been nearly 20 years since FIM - meaning the VAs would be around that many years older, too - and I'd hate to hear the OG cast try to replicate the character voices with old thinning vocal chords. But with that said, I don't think I'd care to continue being a Twifag without Strong's performance, and I can't imagine being a Rarafag without Tabitha. The show itself even started on a high-stake adventure with the NMM debacle, with eternal night constituting said stakes - alongside heavy lorefagging about Celestia, Luna, and Equestria as a whole. Obviously, the meat and potatoes of S1 was the slice-of-life stuff, but you can't deny that a huge part of what made Equestria so appealing to anons is how lived in and storied the setting felt. And this isn't a bug, it's a feature: Twilight is obviously meant to be a stand-in for the viewer - a sheltered emissary from the damn sun princess that is sent to some podunk town and experiences how the world is outside her lofty home city, and also lives in a library that is replete with information about said world that she can access ad hoc whenever she does encounter something outside her schema. That's why you'll notice that the inciting incidents of most episodes in S1 probably came from the environment imposing itself on the characters rather than any unprompted breakdown in interrelationships. Equestria, as a setting, is too interesting to not incorporate some levels of lore-fagging adventures. Both the ideas and execution in OG FIM were just so shit that most anons were completely soured by the idea.

The most appealing thing about Equestria's lore is that a lot of it isn't explained. The everfree is an obvious example where its mystery was the foundation for lots of fun theorizing and fan works, but the more we see of it the less interesting it becomes. FIM obviously fumbled a lot of the interesting lore it had, but I don't really think there is a good way to flesh out ideas like the Everfree without losing some of its magic.
