Overall she's actually one of the most affectionate and emotionally tender ponies in the show, but because Pinkie said a thing one time in one episode, now everyone thinks she's super stoic and closed off, while they ironically make much more reserved characters way more lovey dovey. I feel like this has started to turn around a bit now that the show's been over for a few years and people are now taking slightly more objective judgements on how the characters actually are, but the idea that Applejack is ultra aloof and doesn't emote at all is still pretty deeply ingrained in the community.It's ironic that for as much as people talk about liking complex and subtle characters, most people will also just immediately accept the most surface level take or stated quality of a character. Which leads us to people thinking Applejack is a stoic who cries on the inside because Pinkie said so, even though I'm pretty sure Applejack has actually cried on screen more times than Pinkie herself has.
