The moment the venue is announced, there's a good chance that the venue is going to get flooded by Xitter/Amy New/furries/anyone who hates Mare Fair and might force them to withdraw. It's bizarre how much negative attention MF attracts. Is it all raiders and schizos and stuff? It always feels so inorganic - like, not part of the actual board culture. By that I mean if you go into the Cytubes and TF2 server and chat around very few people actually dislike Mare Fair and almost everyone has glowing praise about going. I've befriended a lot of different anons and a good chunk of them love going to MF and see it as extremely important to them. My apologies if this post comes off as conspiratory or something; lot of anons are probably just banting about the con finding it fun to do so which is based and fine, but it feels like a lot of the homegrown cultural stuff on /mlp/ attracts a lot of people who try and tear it down but only exclusively on the actual board itself.
