Anyway there are no tomboys in the series that I can think of off the top of my head. Closest thing is Applejack but she's done enough girly things not to count and I don't think she ever finds the idea of girly things to be gross. Plus she's like a mother. Some people say RD because she's an athlete, but no. Pony Rainbow Dash is basically a cheerleader. I guess since human RD does soccer maybe she counts? But didn't she stop doing soccer at some point in the series? And she likes wearing dresses. As for Sunset, she's just really cool. She has some edge and she's still like the tiniest bit mean. But that ain't anti-girly.

Sunset is a girlboss. Which may be confused with tomboy. She also has a leather vest and more "boyish" boots. And she's a bully which is more associated with boys.
Technically she isn't super tomboyish, but she has some traits that tomboys have.
But yeah, tomboys are more of an /a/ thing.

Okay this is clearly possibly engagement bait but no she's not. Who is she the boss of? When does she ever take charge of a situation? The closest thing to that is when she decides it's her job to investigate magic but she really never does anything with that plotline. She pretty much just reacts when magic shows up the same way everyone else does. She's also extremely apologetic about her behavior, making her like the opposite of a girlboss. She's basically addicted to feeling bad for being mean in the past. I think she's a masochist. That also explains why she let RD smack her ass with a paddle 18 separate times. Plus, she has bosses of her own. Just look at her relationship with princess Twilight and Celestia.

I actually like how she could easily be a girlboss but she prefers to be the kind and motherly type. She was like born to be a girlboss but chooses to be someone sweeter. That might be part of why she never stops bringing up her past. It's been way past long enough to where she can just forget about it now, but I think she wants it to keep being a thing in her life so that she can more easily connect to other girls when they fuck up like she did.

I dont think Sunset is very tomboyish, but she does have a lot of ambition and determination and these are seen as male traits. She changed after her reformation, but retained a bit of that endearing smugness. Sunset is not typical female-soft for certain. She is also impulsive and will do what she thinks is right. If I were to put her on a tomboy scale - she would be on the far left where tomboys begin. Least tomboy tomboy. Dash on the far right, Zipp somewhere around 0.7. Tho maybe Spitfire is even more tomboy than Dash, she is far more aggro, but that shows up in the academy. She seems very chill and feminine during the gala, but it's not like her character was established back then.

It would be fun to put all tomboys on a scale and order them. Is one axis enough?
