A show being "on the air" doesn't actually matter that much anymore. A couple of weeks ago I was in line behind a family at walmart and the two little girls were talking to the cashier about how they liked My Little Pony and Fluttershy was their favorite. Most normies stream everything these days so the age of a show, or whether or not new episodes are still being made, doesn't really matter. From what I've seen G4 is still quite popular with the target demographic, you can still find a lot of new merch with the characters in toy stores and such. FiM is basically a classic children's series at this point, kids still watch it the same way they watch Snow White and the Lion King and other stuff that came out decades ago. It's not all that surprising that the same sort of adult who would have found it appealing in 2010 could discover it in 2026 and find it just as appealing. G4 isn't going away any time soon and neither is the fandom.

I'm not sure whether what he said about Faust not wanting Rarity is true, because I think she made the design before Hasbro made that demand but I'm not certain.
