I wish they hadn't abandoned the idea of Celestia being the one who raised Spike after Twilight hatched him. Would have definitely given more depth to her character (the de facto queen of the (very racist) ponies being the surrogate mother of a dragon) and reasons to do something other than jobbing and delegating assuming, of course, the writers actually tried to develop Spike as a character, and didn't give up halfway through, like they usually did, but that's a story for another time.

Since Chrysalis relies heavily on stealth and disguise, the fight with her shouldn't have been a laser battle, but dealing with finding Chrysalis as she constantly slips forms (Celestia), stopping the swarm (Mane 6), keeping the denizens safe (Luna), and protecting Shining and Cadance while heavily de-powered.
