apparently Elements Of Justice (the Ace Attorney crossover) is finally coming back with a new part in a few weeks. Other than that, I hope there'll be fun and informative panels at marecon (it's great to see ones that let you actually learn something or that bring new ideas). Also hoping for another anthology and antithology. And the various weekly and monthly streams and the Anni. And late in the year we're due for an announcement of G6, looking forward to the speculation and early fanart for that (I'll doubtlessly be participating in).

The whole point of being trans is that you're identifying as the opposite gender, and according to them gender is something that's defined by how you identify, not your actual biological sex. Unlike in real life, where a man has to go through this whole laborious Frankenstein procedure of surgery and hormones just to kinda-sorta pass as female, a cartoon character can just be drawn as masculine or feminine as you want them to look. So unless you're actually drawing the genitals, wouldn't it make more sense to just say "this character is a girl" and leave it at that? Identifying as "trans" instead of the gender they're trying to pass as just seems self-defeating. Almost like they're subtly admitting that the whole thing is just a giant larp for attention.

My issue isn't with them self-inserting into Equestria, it's with them self-inserting as trans instead of as the gender they supposedly identify as. If a male tranny's ultimate desire is to become female, and he's going to create a self-insert character in a fictional world where he can draw the character however he likes, then why not just render himself as a female character? There's nothing preventing it. Instead, though, he creates a male character who presents as female. He's basically admitting that "trans women" are really just males pretending to be females, which contradicts the dogma that trans women are actually women.

And if anyone is trying to force anyone into a "gotcha," it's the troons themselves trying to force everyone else to accept an absurd, self-contradictory position: that trans women are women, but also that trans women exist as a distinct category that requires separate acknowledgement and protection. Accepting this kind of screwball logic has actual, serious consequences: people have actually had their lives and careers destroyed for taking perfectly reasonable positions like "biological males shouldn't be allowed in female-only spaces." So this isn't just hair-splitting. Some troons probably are just decent people who happen to have some sort of dysphoria or hormone imbalance, and I'm sure that comes with its own set of unique difficulties. I have no problem with leaving these people alone and letting them live their own lives if that's all they want. I'm even willing to use their pronouns and whatever so long as they're not obnoxious about it. The problem is that a significant portion of troons are also crazy narcissists whose only goal is to passive-aggressively bully everyone by taking absurd positions and making absurd demands, and then playing the victim when they don't get everything they want.These kinds of arguments do matter, and I think that it's important to call these people out on their bullshit.
