Equestria is far from the only state on the planet. There are plenty of civilizations of various powerful sapient beings around - dragons, griffons, changelings and so on. Luna’s rule could not have failed to affect them. Would all these peoples really have just swallowed the onset of Eternal Night without resistance? I don’t recall any signs of war in that timeline. Is a mad alicorn really so powerful that she could bend the entire world to her will?
