You, yes, you! I know that you, a pony game developer, are reading this board. Was your pony masterpiece invited to the Steam Horse Fest?It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't, the automatic invitation system is crappy. You can still get your pony game to the Fest, the rules for submissions are super simple:>Eligible games: horse protagonist, horse racing, horse ranching/husbandry.>If your game is not one of those: the game must heavily feature a horse or a significant amount of the game occurs on horseback, but the game must include elements of caring for the horse.>Animals from the broader Equidae family are eligible, including donkeys, zebras, and unicorns. So go, go, go! Let your horsefuckery be seen by all!
>>43021033Also free games, demos, upcoming releases - everything counts. You can just create a page with some placeholder picture and farm for wishlists if you want.It might take Steam a week to review your appeal, so be sure to submit it in advance.
Here are the full eligibility criteria.I can't remember a pony game that would not qualify here - almost all have a pony (zebra, kirin, etc) protagonist.
>>43021033>The donkey and zebra think they are part of the team
>>43021039>centaurs are included to the Horse FestTop cringe.I hope there are no games where you play as a centaur.
>>43021039Is anthro horse-adjacent? Asking for a friendv of course.
>>43021056>zebra and donkey gamesI can only think of Madagascar or Shrek if the rules can be stretched that one of multiple protagonists is enough.
>>43021051>horse husbandryI find this wording amusing as an ESL.
>>43021033Is Sam ever going to release that? I want the cringe. I love cringe.
>>43021080>Is Sam ever going to release that?To be quite honest, he will be late for the party if he releases it.In 2014 it would be one of the first pony erotic games, but now there are many.
>>43021056
>>43021063Only if your MC is grooming actual quadrupedal horses.
>>43021051>horse protagonistsAiEchads...not like this...
>>43021139AiE is OK if you have a horse waifu and care about her.
>>43021033I hope Legends of Equestria will be in Steam eventually.
>>43021033Amarezing
>>43021033Horse husbandry
>>43021033> I know that you, a pony game developer, are reading this board. They are probably in Pony.Games dicksword, but OK.
>>43021033What games have devs are on 4chan, though?Marequest and Mare Dare?
>>43022704You'd be surprise
>>43022208>Pony.GamesI've never heard of this existing. At least devs are congregating somewhere
>>43022981>I've never heard of this existing. It seems that they don't advertise much, and it's a really small server.I wasn't even able to find an invite in Desuarchive, so I had to find it in the server's FAQhttps://discord.gg/QugfpZRAlso while I was searching in Google it showed me general MLP Discord servers with 25k and 36k users. It looks like MLP fandom is alive and well, just heavily moved to Discord
>>43023025almost all of those servers wouldn't be the forte of your average /mlp/ user, or would be if you're a jdbnigger, even if you used discord because they're full of literal 14 - 17 tiktok childrenyeah the fandom is alive and well, but the reason theres so many big groups on discord is because its largely nufans from short form content platforms
>>43023152>they're full of literal 14 - 17 tiktok childrenBut what if I am mentally the same, lmao? It's not like I want to meet anyone personally or doxx myself.
>>43023152>filled with 14-17 year olds. So /mlp/s preferred dating age? Also no one does shit in those servers. I think i was in one for a bit, and the only one who mildly did something was lemon drop. But the only thing they did was talk. Almost all fandom servers are dead with people just never actually working on things.
>>43023265no thats too old mostly.
>Make horse game>Release on Steam>Everyone in it is a horse>It has "horse" in the title>Did it get automatically invited into Horse Fest?I'll let.you guess.
>>43023299>It has "horse" in the titleBut did it have a "horses" meta-tag?According to Steam, this the most important part.
>>43023304I don't know, probably not. I probably just put 'pony'. That's a smaller form of horse, you know!
>>43023318>I probably just put 'pony'Yeah, this tag doesn't exist in the database officially, but Steam does not say that it is useless.https://steamdb.info/tags/The "horses" tag shows that it was manually approved. https://steamdb.info/tag/6041/>This page on SteamDB showcases a curated list of games tagged with 'Horses.' The 'Horses' tag is applied to titles that feature horses as a significant gameplay element or theme. Players can discover various genres of games, ranging from simulations and role-playing to racing and adventure, where horses play a prominent role. These games offer diverse experiences, allowing players to interact with these majestic creatures in various ways. As new games are released and tagged appropriately on Steam, the list is updated automatically to ensure an up-to-date collection.
I've submitted both MareDare 1 and 2 to be reviewed so that they'll be on the Steam horse fest! Hard work does indeed pay off! =)
bump for festing horses
Excited to see if there are any horse raising sims like the old My Little Pony game for MS DOS
The ultimate shitpost would be to submit all MLP fan Flash games to Steam and just drown the Fest in ponies.
>>43024585Pony Platforming Project: Minty Fresh Adventures collection editionFund it
>>43024661>fund itwhere do i put this
>>43024682To Equestria Gaming site's owner, probably. They host most of the pony Flash games and they should be able to contact the owners and publish it.
MareQuest dev here, An Interactive Tail is opted in to Steam Horse Fest. It took a few months of appeals for them to accept it.
>>43024688why not contact dragon mango instead? The one that made the games and is active on the internet (still making the dragon mango webcomics as of 2025)
>>43024741What about the other game, MareQuest: An Interactive Tail?Did they reject it?
>>43024742>why not contact dragon mango instead?I mean, that will work too, I just thought about posting all of the pony games at once and I am definitely too lazy to do it dev by dev myself.
>>43024741>>43024755OK I am too sleepy, what about the free game then, did they approve it?Free games are eligible for participating in the Fest, they say it in the rules for themed fests.
>>43024780good question, i honestly can't remember if i submitted it or not

>>43025755My two games got accepted! You'll be seeing them on the Steam Horse Fest. =)
>>43025884wow good job, i might as well submit the original MareQuest too then. i'm somewhat surprised though AIT got rejected like 3 times over the course of months before it was accepted
>>43025891just submitted the original for an appeal
also might be worth mentioning I noticed Steam had updated their store artwork requirements within the past year or so. I'm not sure if this might inherently reject a game from being showcased, but it's not a bad idea to make new steam store art for the updated dimension requirements

>>43030204No canon mares unfortunately :(
>>43029996Do you know if the public demo for Besti has been updated recently? The public demo has been the same old version for as long as I remember for YEARS

Was D'Lirium invited?
>>43031763I hope so. It definitely qualifies.
>10

>>43022704Pretty sure the Derpy's house dev is on here too
>>43048112Derpy is a trademarked character, tho.

>>430483181) You don't have to register copyright, it is automatic2) Unregistered trademarks exist and enforceable, even (tm) symbol is optional(but Hasbro still somehow ended up losing copyright on G1 show, lol. They regained it only 10 years later)
>>43048367But then again, Rainbow Butterfly Unicorn kitty somehow got away with using Rainbow Dash's Cutie Mark as MC's power (only in the show itself; they had to recolor it for the logo). Transformice have FiM cosmetics, not licensed. Even Bad Dragon have legally distinct M6 toys.
>>43048269Didn't Hasbro relinquish all ownership of "Derpy" since the name was so god-awful "offensive" when they subsequently renamed her "Muffins" or "Ditzy Doo"?
>>43048367>Unregistered trademarks exist and enforceableYeah, except Hasbro doesn't gain anything (except negative PR) for enforcing it.If they registered the "Derpy Hooves" trademark they would have to remove the game. But they didn't, so they can just ignore it.

>>43049865Yep, just pushed the (hopefully) last update for AIT before Horsefest. Unfortunately, there's an annoying bug right now that crashes the game for users with specific older hardware when in fullscreen. Sucks to know the game is going to be showcased on Steam in this state, but I can't do anything about that it's a Gamemaker issue: https://github.com/YoYoGames/GameMaker-Bugs/issues/13525
>>43027059Oh, guess I didn't answer this one. I don't think there was a specific reason. It was just in an "appealed" state and then would revert after a few weeks where I could submit an appeal again so I figured it got rejected. I didn't get an email from Steam with an explanation or anything, or if I did I didn't notice it.
>>43049903>It was just in an "appealed" state and then would revert after a few weeks where I could submit an appeal againHmm, it sounds more like "ticket was closed due to inactivity", otherwise they would need to send some answer to you.>>43049892Not gonna lie, I saw "YoYo games", confused it with "YotesMark" and thought that Battle Gem Ponies were finally released to Steam.

i'm having a lot of fun with "Horsey Game" it's stupid, yeah, but it's a fun kind of stupid
I'm guessing you're Electro? How long did the DLC took?
Haven't found a single pone gameProbably language settings or locale based, but it's so over
>>43051981Assuming you're Red, I really enjoy the game and the classic Mare Quest too. I'm terrible at Filly Fiasco though.
>>43051989about a year more or less, but real development ramped up after MF3. During that time i barely got more than 4-5 hours of sleep every Friday-Sunday. I'm happy it's finally over to be honest, but after Pone Voyage I won't know what to do with all of this extra time.
>>43051994once you understand the puzzles it's pretty straightforward. folks have been willing to help on the steam community forums if you ask as well
>>43051998Did the game sold a bit at least? Imma buy a few joke copies for a friend. Also say hi to Kanashiipanda who's never finishing his porn game with how much scope and possible scenes there is. loved the sad bunny music though.
>>43052004It's doing surprisingly well yeah, better than I thought for Horsefest. Peak units for Filly Fiasco release was 356 and it's up to 491 today which is way more than I expected. I mean, I'll be honest it doesn't really make much of a profit but that was never the point. Steam gets 30% cut (I think) and then 50% after that goes to the artists who helped me. Most of the rest goes to Fallen Oak, and whatever is leftover (if anything) just goes to operating costs of maintaining the LLC. Regardless, it's a good hobby and I do love doing it.
>>43052016How is there anyhting left if the rest goes to fallen oak?But anyway, whatever, stay based and see ya at MF4.
>>43052016You're doing good stuff, Red. Mad respect.
>>43052027well it goes in an account i have tied to the expenses of my rescue amre at Fallen Oak. So a set amount gets withdrawn every month. Sometimes I have to wire the account money from my personal account, but probably not for a while now with the recent sales which is very nice. But the same account is used for maintaining LLC stuff. Legalzoom / Tunecore fees, production subscription services, ect.
>>43048112Btw speaking about legally of this derpy fan game on steam.Because game is free steam support may just overlook content or/and the man who reviewed it just don't care about it too much in first place (some mods can be annoying as shit but in general steam don't care about copyright content too much)Also in theory Hasbro can easily send DMCA Takedown request at any moment (actually needed like 5 min to made it), and if dev decided to challenge it then Hasbro needed 10 work days to make a lawsuit and all of it will be deciding inside of court. Also if Hasbro really gets pissed but they cannot win the case they just gonna delay final verdict until the dev went bankrupt. Also game will be removed from moment when steam accept DMCA and until will be resolved. And only challenging request can take like 5-7 days because of some holidays or some shit
>>43052082that'd be pretty tragic, but at the same time it's pretty risky using a canon character like that to begin with
>>43052088It's risky to use characters that's looks even little like cannon characters. DMCA kinda insane broken and i saw huge amount of stupid ones. Basically for Hasbro it will be enough to take screenshot of purple pony in you game and twilight sparkle from the show and say "they the same" for steam to delete you game until you challenge DMCA with may lead to court (if Hasbro even gonna do that because it's expensive as fuck and if you game is like make less then 10k$ they may just don't go in court :D but why know for sure what they gonna think when you game goes back to steam after you challenge DMCA claim)
Post ((your)) MareQuest endings now!
>>430521111/2
>>430521462/2I had more, but those happened before the game saved them in the main screen.
my pulldamn, I played FoER back when it was just a couple levels and a ton of bugs. Guess I'm gonna punch some hours on Steam to see how the finished game looks like.also the marequest cover in the library be zesty xDCan't remember when the last time I was this excited for new games!
>>43052111>>43052196FOER is insane, and I never rea dthe book. I spent like 50 hours on it the first time, though the first zone is hard and repetitive, its much better later and you turn into a killing machine by the end.

>>43051566>what Ambient.White was supposed to beAn infinite patreon cash cow? Yeah it does have that asset flip with half-baked gameplay mechanics look
>>43052927shouldn't be any preference, it's just random to the extent that the randomize() function in GML works with the choose() functions of the first name and last name generator I put together>>43052949wow you're the first to ever mention this, though admittedly it was more of a lazy decision on my end than anything else (kind of like the unicorn shield color based on your socks color i think)>>43052988no reasonable limit, it's just a json file and not a very heavy one
>>43052057Question i have been asking myself for years:During sales, does Steam get a lesser cut? You'd think so since its part of their events.Or is it just you who decide the reduction and you all just get less?
>>43053149Steam always gets a 30% cut unless the game unless the game makes millions then they reduce that for some reason. The devs decide what their game discount should be for specific sales and events. I normally just set all of my packages to 50% for any upcoming events.
>>43052313Haven't tried it yet, maybe over the weekend. But it looks fun and has rather positive reviews, even if it's not mlp-related

Maybe I don't drop in here as often as once I used to, but I still come here to see what's new with pony at least once a week.It tickles me now and then to see some anon illustrate his post with something me or Brutamod drew for tumblr all those years ago.Still playing with ponies. At my age. No regerts. What I find most interesting about Slaughter Horse 2 is a lot of anons on here aren't really into the idea because they want to cuddle mares and have hideous mutant foals with them. All the SH2 fans generally fall into the more tumblr/tiktok/bluesky camp.It just goes to show where the real evil was all along!
>>43053491i hope you don't dislike me for not wanting to play your game and hurt cute ponies anon. i do sincerely appreciate your contribution as a developer regardless of if i personally don't wish to play your game. thank you!
>>43053507Not at all Anon, if it's not your bag that's fine. Like I said, /mlp/ generally seems to prefer cute stuff like MareQuest and that is completely A-OK, makes me feel it's way more wholesome on here than its reputation. SH2 was made because I had requests for ages after the first one to make a game where you got to actually be the serial killer. When I'm finally done with it, I wouldn't mind doing something cute just to change things up a bit.
>>43053491>. All the SH2 fans generally fall into the more tumblr/tiktok/bluesky campI would say it's because the target audience for Android games has always been kids, and SH2 fans must be people who played Pinkamena/Slaugher Horse on Google Play. They are just 10 years younger than /mlp/ Anons, so they use newer platforms.
>>43053517>They are just 10 years younger than /mlp/ Anons, so they use newer platforms.I wonder if it's only that or also a difference in the general mentality.

And theres also since the hack a bunch of obvious schizo/shart fags obviously trying to sabotage the board. It's sad, so its nice to see some people keeping the spirit alive

>>43051619It's a nice game. I liked it
>>43053786Yeah, I did. It was just before Equestria Girls came out (I think, it was some big horse thing anyway) and Hasbro went through Google Play with a fine tooth comb knocking out all the pony rips of which there were many.I actually checked and found 'Pinkamena' wasn't a registered trade mark, so legally I could have registered it myself and then tell them to get fucked, which was tempting but prudence told me that while that would be funny, I'd end up in more trouble than it was worth.
>>43053516you know anon I don't like the concept personally, but I'm going to get the game because you seem cool and i hope you make more (wholesome) pony games in the future

You could spend a few thousands on a cheapo lawyer and have them overspend 100x on corporate lawyers, and then when you lose you just take down the app. Since it was free you don't even have any monetary liability. Obviously even a cheapo lawyer is not nothing, but it's not "losing your house", is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
>>43057943Bought Rustler, because medieval gta sounded funni.
>>43058019You can literally represent yourself, though it's not a good idea since they'll try to nail you for some kind of filing mistake or some shit that a lawyer would know. But yeah, you can hire a cheap lawyer, your defense can basically amount to "Your honor, this is obviously bullshit." Maybe you get bad luck and the judge is one of those corpo ass-kissers who decides the money man is always right, but you've got fair odds that Hasbro gets tossed out on its nose, and if not you've got to take it down anyway.
>>43058506Yeah that's why I'd expect a simple lawyer is probably better, if you are able to afford one without too much trouble. And my point is that even if the case is clearly your fault, if you really didn't make any money off of it then there should be barely any damages if any whatsoever, and corporate lawyers really cost a lot.
>>43051631Pro tip: You can customize the ponies in Slaughter Horse 2 and make them based on characters or people you absolutely FUCKING DESPISE so you won't feel sorry for killing them. You can also send death threats!

>>43059162Yeah, I've gotten this feedback before and I can understand it. Personally, I love adorable airheaded mares who's most difficult problems in life are normally silly shit like trying to figure out if they should use a hammer or a saw on a nail. For me it also hit me a lot deeper when writing the narrative when their problems become more existential and it's difficult for them to comprehend what is happening to themselves. I'll also add that I made the game from the perspective that anyone can play it in some regard. With this in mind, I've always approached it more as a game for the board, the fandom, and the Hasbro intended demographic of children who may randomly stumble across it.

It is my sad duty to report that Tracey Cage was killed when trying to sneak into the Veteran's house to murder her. Tracey's last words were "As the Night Mare is my witness, I swore I thought the 'Justice Sleeps' tarot reading applied to the Veteran too!"Is there a way to mod in custom images for mane and tail, and particularly the cutie mark to SH2? My attempt to make a Tracey doesn't live up to her name.
>>43059690Dang, actually missed opportunity, especially considering he could so very easily have listed an EA demo with the currently released parts of the game.

>>43060178Speaking from experience, I see.
>>43060175>3 recommendations, and all miss the mark. You know what? I think there is a conspiracy against FoE Remains. The game is basically overwhelmingly positive (97% of the reviews are positive and there are 467 of them). There was a surge of players during the fest (see picrel). It is a recent release (August 2025).And yet this game is not shown in the "Free to Play" section and in the "All games" section it is buried under layers and layers of garbage with fewer reviews, much earlier release dates and worse scores.Like, someone in Valve pushed the "shadowban, but not completely" button.

>>43059297Ladies and gentlemen… welcome to the single most confusingly pure experience you will ever feel dirty for enjoying.Mare Quest is the kind of game that is so aggressively wholesome it loops right back around into being obscene. As a grown man, I feel being caught with this in your steam library is worse than any straight porn game you could imagine. This thing sits on the same storefront as Femboy Futa Party and Train Molester 9000, and of the three this is the one I expect to find in the play history of the next mass shooter. Congratulations, developers. You did the impossible. You out weirded the Japanese. You wake up as ‘Insert Procedural Name Here’ in a version of Equestria that’s just legally distinct enough that Hasbro’s lawyers haven’t dropped the knee of justice on the devs necks. You’ve got amnesia, because of course we have to hit that cliché, and immediately upon waking up you’re greeted by two ditzy, air headed mares. Both of whom talk like they’ve killed what ever brain cells they had long ago Huffing bags of glitter. Their baby babble and retardation while initially, to steal one of the 12 words they use, is cute. It eventually makes you stop feeling like the thinly veiled trans self insert oc you play as, and more like Jeffery Epstein. They spend the first ten minutes telling you how cute everything is, how cute you are, how cute the concept of existence itself is. I felt my testosterone filing for divorce.
>>43060448I'm not sure if that's a shitpost or a roast.
>>43060448The game bills itself as a visual novel, but that seems more as an excuse to avoid criticism of the “gameplay” mechanics. There’s a friendship meter. There’s movement kind of. There’s… battles? Sort of? The tutorial tries to sell you on some rock paper scissors pony positioning system like it’s Final Fantasy Tactics for fillies, but nah. You just click and win, despite the poorly crafted tutorial screen showing you using certain ponies for certain types of enemies. I never had to swap once through the play through. And once you realize the map is 90% generous safe zones, any illusion of tension evaporates faster than my will to live. The game doesn’t punish you at any point for avoiding conversations, so you can just keep clicking continue onward over and over, save your apples, hit a safe zone and repeat. The UI was clearly designed by someone who knew horse fuckers would take any slop as long as long as it was horse shaped. And would defend it with force only matched by cucked Pokémon fans explaining why the billion dollar franchise can’t add voices “because… it just can’t okay!” This game has all the variety and diversity we come to expect from a Netflix original series. Same pony bodies. Same 3 backgrounds per location. Same limited color palette and poses that would make even the most slop enjoying VN player ask for more variety. When your phone can run Crysis and simulate a 30k word date with Twilight Sparkle. Hardware limitations as an excuse goes out the window. The fillies? Just scaled down versions of the exact same models. Zero variation. No body types, 5 hairstyles, no accessories other than the same pair of socks, no nothing. The game’s biggest “tech achievement” is some mildly dynamic text generation that would’ve had your nuts quaking in 2011. Now? I can ERP with a better version of any pony on my toilet. This feels like a downgrade, and excuse to cover up a poorly made story. Not a feature. Every conversation is fuller than the last with the word “cute.” If I took a shot every time a pony said “cute” or “mare,” I would’ve been dead by the first act. The location names and pony names are so creatively bankrupt that I genuinely thought “Safe Zone” and “Mare Hospital” were actual ponies the first time. The hospital one was especially confusing since the entire introduction was about how we destroyed the hospital and doctors don’t exist. But they’re everywhere. If this had come from some random /f/ag dev in 2008 it would’ve been charming innovative and ground breaking. Instead it feels like the gaming equivalent of Dashcon. a lot of promise, zero execution, and you still paid money to be here. We give Mare Quest a generous, almost pitying…2 out of 5.

>>43060584i like the game but honestly, this just sounds like a dev cope to me. Steam does not prioritize free games and especially free ones without in app purchases.
>>43060232I don't think valve would personally be upset over this or take interest in a game with 20 concurrent players at its peak. Not to shit on it but the size is a huge deal. If they had an issue with the content they would just not approve it. Yes using fallout in your title and other trademarked or copyright things could get you in trouble. But it would just be removed not rated lower. And idk why free games would have an advantage?
>>43060597>Steam does not prioritize free gamesThis, they don't make money off free games unless there's some monetization in it somewhere. Can't blame them for pushing the titles that make them money.

Everyone be sure to give Slaughter Horse 2 a try! I was skeptical playing a game about hurting ponies too, but it's so well made and kind of (alarmingly) addictive. Go play it and give it some love with positive reviews. This one really deserves an overwhelmingly positive on Steam. Great work dev, looking forward to what you do in the future.
>>43061540>So, has anyone tested it?Yeah, me. I really don't want to sound like Eastern Europeans from picrel, but I still must say that I several times had a thought "is this what they call asset flip?"So, what I liked:>the overall atmosphere>the main character's design>pressing "space" to fly high and then zooming through the map by holding "space">telekinesis>convenient switching to spellcasting by holding RMB>meaningful heat and resting mechanics>the existence of resources and crafting systemWhat I didn't like:>absolutely immersion-breaking bug where your camera is not tied properly to your character, so it constantly jiggles on the screen>low asset variety in general, in combination with unpolished gameplay it creates a really "cheap" impression>main character's voice (was it recorded by the dev? any AI-generated voice would be much better) and discrepancy between the voice lines and subtitlesI didn't find a way to fly into the tower, but I assume the demo ends there.
>>43061818>This one really deserves an overwhelmingly positive on SteamIt's a long road, chief. You need 500 reviews for that and SH2 is only around 300 now. Also I really recommend the devs to make catchy desktop/mobile ads and use danbo.org to put it on /v/ and /vg/.It's one of the most cost-efficient ways to advertise.
>>43060838>Horse fest is no more ^:'(Yeah, but you can still follow some Steam curators that overview pony games to not miss anything.
>>43060584It, of course, doesn't apply to Todd (he rapes someone's IPs), but the original Fallout was definitely a rip-off of Wasteland and Mad Max.
>>43061951Oh absolutely, the only reason why people associate post apocalyptic stuff with Fallout is because Wasteland 1 was only released on early PCs, and they did nothing with the name until 2014, still haven't played Wasteland 3, saw some mixed reviews
>>43061964>they did nothing with the name until 2014Wasn't there trouble over who owned the rights?
>>43062068No I think EA just had it and sat on it's ass until they sold it to the current owners
>>43061828>any AI-generated voice would be much betterI think I read somewhere that they actually used AI for the voices and that they plan to replace those with real people once the foundation is ready. How reliable that claim really is remains anyone's guess though.
>>43062374>they actually used AI for the voicesI've got to say, if this is the case, it's the most convincing AI I've ever heard. It sounds exactly like a basement dweller recording something in half-voice on a shitty mic.

>>43063312You just barely missed it then.
>>43063299horsies?
>>43063299>>43063755Okay, I'll sperg about horsie games, since the steam fest got me playing some.I played Ranch of Rivershine and was disappointed. The camera sucks bad, the animations are stiff, and the horsies are kinda lifeless. One of the early competitions you enter has the camera literally start out buried in the trees so you can't see anything, including the jump that's almost immediately in front of you. They allow you to pet them, without which a horsie game would be LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE, but it's a perfunctory brush of the horse's nose that just disappointing. The background of the world and story are nice, but feel kind of distant and poorly conveyed to the player. RoR is okay, but kinda feels like one of those grindy Ubisoft content-farm games where there's a shit ton of stuff to do in order to progress, but none of it is executed very well. Every morning it throws like 3 more quests notices in my face that I have to hide so they don't cover half the screen, and most of which are just "go talk to X again." I pirated Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch and it's a lot better in some ways, but it feels unfinished and apparently it's abandoned by the devs. Like in EVR the horses have actual personalities, and the animations are cute and lively, not stiff like in RoR. The happy horsie dance they do when they get the happy status is fucking adorable. Petting them is a minigame with really nice animations. And it's one of the few games I've played where the horses at least attempt to path around obstacles, instead of just walk blindly straight ahead until they bump their heads into a tree and stop, like some kind of retard horse. (RoR has a competition course where you do a jump and end in a stand of trees and if you don't aim right your horse will just run into them and stop, costing you time, which is annoying.) But the rest of EVR is like empty collect-em-up and fetch quests and shit, the story is dull as hell. The world is gorgeous, and riding around is fun, but the rest of the game just seems unfinished.I wish I could take the horses and animations from EVR and stick them in a better-fleshed-out version of the world of RoR with RoR's training and breeding mechanics, but EVR's camera and better craphical style.
I honestly wonder why there's not a single game out there that's an autistic horse riding simulator. There are literal dozens upon dozens of car racing games RIGHT NOW that all just try to mimic the experience of driving a car as closely as possible with zero other defining features, but not a single game in the entire history of gaming that has decided to try to mimic the experience of riding a horse.
>>43060448>>43060464It was funny on here, but was it really necessary to leave the negative review on Steam? I understand if you didn't like the game but you played under 2 hours and you can just refund it.Regardless, I responded to all of your points on Steam but you could've just asked me to respond on here and I would have. And >>43060485 was me so you already got the (You) you were apparently pining for from me. I know I shouldn't care so much about negative reviews, but I do. I put a lot of time and effort into this even if the end result is far less than professional. So yeah, maybe I don't deserve the coveted overwhelmingly positive status, I'm a dumb spaghetti coder, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't want it. And I want all of the other /mlp/developers working their hearts out to make more more pony to get one too (looking at you Slaughter Horse 2 and Mare Dare devs)

>>43064194for every person who can ride a horse there are hundreds of people who can drive a car. and even those few would probably rather just ride another round on their horse than purchase a horse simulator for home use. I'd guess a steering wheel and pedals are cheap in comparison>dozens upon dozenslets be honest, 90% of those are arcadeslop that have almost nothing to do with the experience of driving a car
>>43064274>that artstyle
>>43064274>Not available in GermanyGod, this country is retarded.
>>43064241>The Legend of KhiimoriFun fact: it's by the same devs who basically abandoned Emerald Valley Ranch, so I'm not sure what's gonna happen when it gets out of early access. It looks cool, though.
>>43064274why do retards draw pony snouts in the most terrible boxy way?I was interested until I saw this >also all males + gay datingmakes sense now
>>43064340wtf is a Vinyl Dask lol
>>43064194>There are literal dozens upon dozens of car racing gamesCars are 100 times simpler than horses.>>43063299Yeah, we can discuss how it was a lighting in a bottle event and most of the pony devs fumbled it just like Hasbro.
>>43064340its a g5 adjacent thing
>>43064421>fumbled it just like Hasbro. It's easier than you think
>>43064221>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW JUST REFUND ITHe had his grievances about it and aired it through the proper channel. That's what happens when you host it on Steam. Learn to live with it.
>>43064503Negative reviews suck but they happen and I do appreciate feedback. It was mainly the way that it was worded that irritated me like he was only leaving it because I didn't respond to him here.
>>43064520>like he was only leaving it because I didn't respond to him hereThen props to him for doing so. He got you to respond when you clearly didn't and just laughed at him here >>43060485, and even called you out for doing so in the review.
>>43064503You sir, are gay.
>>43064528It was funny, I enjoyed reading it, and I was giving him props for the X-Play reference. But you're right, I do have to just learn to live with the fact I can't please everyone and just keep trying to improve the game the best I can.
>>43064547NTA but you KNOW it's a polarising game, so honestly I don't see how you can still get that upset. Some people like it some people think it's terrible garbage, and as far as I'm aware that's not news to you
>>43064221>>43064520>>43064547Huh? I went to do other things. I didn't make the review because you "didn't see my reply"? Not sure what made you think that. I literally said directly in the first sentence the dev saw my joke review. I think all my points were really fair. Steam only has a recommend and don't recommend option. I have to choose one or the other. As I said in the review. I love that people are making horse stuff, and I love horses. But you're charging money for the game. So I left my critique. I don't want a refund, I love giving money to horse fuckers doing shit and making effort posts. Not sure why you're getting so butt hurt about it. You can very easily fix all the things I mentioned and make it a recommended from me anon. Celestia speed buddy. You'll get through these tough times of one bad review.
>>43064595>a polarising gameHow is this game polarising? It's as innocent as it can get.
>>43064595Polarizing? The first game is free and I really don't think I'm breaking anyone's bank account with the second one (which the only reason I made to begin with was everyone was begging me for Steam Community Items which require the game to be paid for). If people don't enjoy it that's fine, but I don't see how it's remotely polarizing? Maybe I'm misunderstanding.Regardless, I do care deeply what others think about the things I make. You'd think after 13 years of making things for the fandom I'd learn to deal with negativity towards my content better, and I usually just don't respond at all 99.9% of the time, but it always ruins my day. I said earlier I'll learn to live with it, but I know I won't. People who don't find joy in things I work hard to make and actively take time out of their day to shit on it will always hurt me. Want to gut punch me? Yeah, just send a negative review or comment lol>>43064628I apologize, I misread your meaning in the Steam review. >I left an effort post on a underwater basket weaving forum the devs i'm 90% sure saw. It was very funni and I'm very cool. This came across to me as "i put a lot of effort into a post the dev must have saw but didn't respond to so I'll make myself known here". Since we're being honest>Steam only has a recommend and don't recommend option I have to choose one or the other. No you don't, no one is forcing you to write reviews. There is no benefit I'm aware of to it for a player other than to deter other players away from a game. I have 305 games on Steam and have written reviews for 8. >But you're charging money for the gameThis is the part that annoys me the most in general about the new game. That I have to charge money for it, I never wanted to. I don't want anyone's money and it has never been about the money for me. Making money for a hobby goes against everything I believe in. The one consolation for me is that a large portion of what it does make goes to Fallen Oak. I understand from a business perspective why Steam only allows Community Items on paid for games, but I sure hate them for it.>inb4 well why don't you just make the game cheaperThere are things about the price I am not comfortable disclosing here, but it's certainly not of my own choice. >You'll get through these tough times of one bad reviewI don't think so and my overreaction in this thread is just proof I'm not doing well in general with this project. I was looking forward to just releasing The Filly Fiasco and moving on with life, but no, the constant bug reports which I can't even fucking fix are getting to me. I have barely slept more than 5 or 6 hours on a weekend for the last 6 months, and I'm just fucking burnt out at this point. I don't feel cut out for this any more. I don't know why I'm doing this to myself at this point.
>>43064677To a cloying degree, yes. I kind of agree with that guy's criticism of how weirdly brain-damaged the ponies in MQ seem. Like Kinderquestria cranked up and played straight, it's definitely not gonna be to everyone's taste, and some folks will surely find it off-putting.
>>43060448>>43060464>writes walls of text for a simple VNKinda reminds me how Marx wrote more words criticizing Stirner than in all of the Stirner's written works.
>>43064747Sir... do you know where you are? First the intro is sarcastic, making fun of myself. Just typical post meta ironic shit posting. secondly fuck that gay faggoty commy bullshit about not wanting money. I fucking love money, I can't get enough money. Because you know what I can do with money? Make more horses! You should charge money, take that profit, put it back into the game and paying artists etc. I'm a dev, I have been where you are. I spent 6 months twoards the end of 2025 working on a big project for a client and other people. I wanted to die, i was tired, i was running into dead end after dead end. I was planning on refunding the client. I had to learn entire new maths to finish. I underchaged the client but have made tons of money from re selling the code. So much so that paypal had to increase my limits for receiving money. And every cent, is going right back into making other projects, hiring other people to help me so I'm not killing myself trying to do it all on my own. Artist are cheap, the one youre using... maybe not so much. Others? Certainly. And ones who can match that style exactly. We're on 4chan, so it's hard for me to post without 7 layers of irony. But you know who I am. Add me on certain grooming chat clients, if you need someone to talk to about code and shit. And if you need help or just someone to bounce ideas off of or whatever.
>>43064677>>43064747>how is it polarizingSee >>43059162>I've gotten this feedback beforeThis is apparently not news to you. (I'm not the anon who posted the review btw.) I've also seen other people with this opinion, I know I'm not the only one.Incidentally the minigames in the gameplay are also complete time-wasting garbage, or at least they were when I played on release day, I haven't checked the new updates yet. I didn't bring it up earlier itt because I didn't play the game for the gameplay; the actual mares being some kind of googoo gaga world where ponies can't grasp basic reality with baby intellect is far more concerning to me. But I can understand the people who expect an actual game and get disappointed at babby's first flash game style mechanics with zero balance or depth.>I really don't think I'm breaking anyone's bank accountPolarizing means "people don't like it" (or more precisely, "some people really like it and some people really don't"), it has nothing to do with price so I have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't call it a rip-off or anything. My point is only that, yes, some people love it and some people hate it, and like you said earlier this isn't the first time you get this feedback. If negative reviews truly hurt you then you should've made a game with broad appeal and no controversial, unusual characterisation decisions.
>>43064806I'm kind of off my Addys until i can get a reup right now and when I wrote the first reply so I'm kinda spiraling. I tend to get hyper fixated on things and spend way more time on them then I should
>>43064747>I don't think so and my overreaction in this thread is just proof I'm not doing well in general with this project. Also my guy you are not an up and coming indie game studio with VC funding and community outreach to manage and performance expectations for your business launch. You are one guy hacking away at an obscure autistic RPG engine making a highly stylised mare game. You have no obligation to keep up an update schedule, you don't have investor meetings, you don't even have a "community" other than a few hundred similarly autistic neets probably largely from this very website who bought your game mostly as a meme. You can just not do things, and then come back and push an update whenever you feel like it.Unless you NEED the money or are genuinely trying to build a reputation as a quality dev for future projects or something, but my understanding so far is that this is just a passion project. And I get wanting your passion project to be well polished, but if you're burnt out on it then it's missing the passion part, innit? The only person might NEED it to be finished is yourself, you have no external obligations here (unless there's any private stuff I don't know about). If the bugs are game-breaking that's bad, but if it's just people reporting gameplay jank then even that isn't worth worrying about much IMO. The entire game is clearly relatively simplistic and janky, in a way that might be called "soul", but deeply polished and engaging gameplay is not why people are buying this in the first place. I don't intend for this to sound like a backhanded compliment, just the truth, it's a VN with very simplistic minigames; as long as people can read the VN part of it and complete the game, all's well.
>>43064820When I think of polarizing I think of a topic that makes people actively fight each other...
>>43064864That's still not related to price. But IMO polarizing means the opinions are divided into two opposite poles, e.g. lovers and haters, without much in-between. So for MQ, you have people who think it's so cute and wholesome, and people who think it's offputtingly braindead and therefore garbage, and I haven't really seen many lukewarm opinions.I'm ESL though so maybe you're right and I'm wrong
>>43064878As a native English speaker that's not what it means to me. A polarizing topic is usually one that makes people hostile towards each other on each end
>>43064878>>43064889You're both wrong.https://www.e-magnetica.pl/doku.php/magnetic_polarisation
>>43064894bazinga
>>43064894damn i lost an internet argument brb kms
>>43064889Native English speaker who reads books here.https://www.britannica.com/dictionary/polarize>1 : to cause (people, opinions, etc.) to separate into opposing groupsHostility is not a requirement, just that opinions get strongly divided into two opposing views with little inbetween.
>>43064974i've never hear it used in this context. I have only ever heard anyone use the term "polarizing" in a way that implies hostility so i think it's easy to see the confusion
>>43064974>The war has polarized the nation.>The current debate polarizes along lines of class and race.yep, no hostility to see here
>>43064855it's not only the VN though? He just spent like a year making filly fiasco. Did you even try to play it? It's actually really good
>>43063948And I got soft-locked in EVR, my horse won't sprint anymore even after I cleared her stress bar, and the plot won't continue until I beat Literally Who's best time in the first race, so it's impossible to progress. The island is beautiful, and moment-to-moment riding is a lovely experience, but the map sucks, it's not so much an open world as small chunks of open stitched into a maze of passages that makes it really a long, annoying way to go anywhere at all, and when you get there the only things to do are collect resource blobs to build dumb shit, and do races. Oh and collect fame orbs for small fame boosts, but they respawn so you don't get to say "yeah, I climbed that hill already" and they give way less than just doing a race again, so why bother? I do love petting the horsies though.>>43064194I would play it, and there's a few attempts to do that. Ranch of Rivershine is kinda like that with some light Stardew Valley fantasy touches. There's also Unbridled which I haven't tried. But it's really hard to get right.>>43064283And this, there's very few good driving simulator games, too. Making games is fucking hard, I can tell you from experience. On a barely related note but apropos of some other shit I saw today, it pisses me off when some developer is struggling through hard problems and Dunning-Kruger faggots start calling him a Patreon scammer. Like it's one thing if your change log after 12 months is "unlocked that scene that was in the game already but locked," but some fuckers will call scammer on guys who post steady development updates. It's fucking stupid. Oh shit, now I'm blogging. Sleep deprivation is a hell of a drug
>>43064978>>43064980Hostility can be the result of strongly divided opinion, but not necessarily.
>>43065076>Hostility can be the resultAnd these days it's the expected default too.
>>43065254That's all down to Google/Facebook/Twitter, they built a machine to make people stupid and angry in order to drive up engagement so they can rake in the ad revenue.
>>43065072Tried a pirate copy of Unbridled, it's UE5, and the version I got seems to be built for a hypothetical future computer from space. I can play Cyberpunk 2020 smooth as glass, but even reducing resolution to 720p and setting the graphics to low it ran like 10fps for a game that looks like it's from 2010. Fucking amateur dev UE5 bullshit. No clue if the game's any good.
>>43064328>basically abandoned Emerald Valley RanchWell, that's quite unfortunate. I'm all for a redemption
>>43064503>He had his grievances about it and aired it through the proper channel. That's what happens when you host it on Steam. >>43065375>>43065464Lol, lmao even.No you can't not like the game anon. You must give it 5 stars and your money because it has a horse. Just shut up and consume product. This is why hasbro gave us g%
>>43065707>You must give it 5 stars and your money because it has a horseThis, but unironically.
>>43065707>You must give it 5 stars and your money because it has a horse.Correct, poni is always good
>>43065721>>43065730Cry more you double niggers. You get what you deserve
>>43065737I get more pony? Splendid
>>43065707You’re the kind of retard who thinks they’re doing a service writing a shitty yelp review for McDonald’s, and the sad thing is a McDonalds cheeseburger costs more than any of these pony devs gams nowadays
>>43065707There’s a pretty big difference between a hasbro money grab and amateur indie game developers anon
>>43065766Nah. There's a horse. Shut up and consume nigger. Be thankful they have in their benevolence given you anything at all. Have you even said thank you once?
>>43065759No stop! Don't leave a heckin bad review-a-rino! It's just the price of "insert goy slop here"! Lol, lmao even. I certainly never give reviews this amount of crazy weight. But clearly it deserves it if it has a coordinated group of faggots crying about 13 negative reviews out of 400.
>>43065811>Shut up and consume niggerGaslight me harder, daddy.
>>43065911no
>>43065464was going to say ywnbaw but after reading this garbage thread i believe anon did in fact ascend to karenhood, keep slaying queen
>>43065817Ah I see, you're a cucknadian, explains everything, go to the doctor you waste of oxygen
>>43065707>>43065737>>43065811>>43065817you can give it but you can't take it apparently. at this point your bitching is no different than the dev complaint if not worse
500 can't come soon enough
>>43066000wrong. i don't think i've ever played a pony game i actually enjoyed for more than an hour, i'm just reading through the thread and pointing out that both you and the dev are being bitches
>>43066016By me saying i don't like the game and saying the reason why lmao? And theres not a single pony game you can play for more than a hour and enjoy? You sir sound like you just don't like ponies.
>>43066025i love ponies just havent found a game thats really resonated with me though. but you left a few negative reviews, upset the dev, and they started bitching. now you're getting a few negative responses and you're bitching. my point is you're both being bitches
>>43066043I left a single negative review? And im responding to people making comments saying you need to love it because it has a horse in it. If you find that annoying then close your eyes retard. Don't respond or engage.
>>43066000Nigger, you disqualify yourself by posting this crappy image. Even trips can't save you.
>>43066058ill respond to whatever i feel like>single negative reviewif i'm following you wrote this>>43060448>>43060464and then went on Steam to post the same. fair enough that everyone else in this thread is crying too, but you clearly stand out as the most annoying. and reading your first post again your expectations for a fan made pony game seem unrealistically high
>>43066000>canadian flexing about hockey right nowoh no... who's going to tell him...
>>43066111Okay nigger, I responded to what i want too? Why are you crying about it then? And unrealisticly high? Are you fucking retarded? Non randomly generated names and less annoying baby speak are not unrealistic. My gripes with the game play mechanics and gui are not unrealistic. Literally go download pre made assets for fucks sake. There are plenty of other fan made games with great ui and more clear direction.
>>43066122So that's a yes, on you being retarded then? Got it. >jannies removing posts imagine my shock
>>43066238other people have said negative things about it, but you are the only one managing to annoy everyone here. just a hunch but maybe it's a (You) problem. and yeah your brain damaged word salad is a lot more than most people would write over some shitty two dollar visual novel
>>43066331This. Some of your criticisms are valid and I agree with them, but you're being a major faggot right now.
>>43066331Good i hope it ruined your day. gorilla niggers who call paragraphs word salads don't deserve anything good. Now go back to your hug box and cry more about how the bullies on the internet are being mean, you molested faggot.
>>43066346I think all my points were valid. You can disagree, but that wouldn't make invalid. It was only a day later after the dev sperged about a negative review that three faggots seemingly simultaneously started crying about it. I've only replied to direct (You)s about it.
>>43066361anon read the room, your first review wasn't well received either long before the dev responded
>>43066381It had 2 responses before it with the dev specifically saying they liked it. It was only after I made the actual review, when the dev came back to this thread to bitch. And then the next day where there was any other retards crying with any seriousness. The only sperging before was some anons arguing about the word polarizing. But even if it wasn't the case why should I or would I care? Oh no the niggers are mad I didnt like thing? However will I continue with my life. As long as it's funny to me, I will respond to their replies by laughing at them.
>>43066361>I think all my points were validReally? What an astonishing turn of events, I never would have expected that! Again, massive faggot.
>>43066397knowing the dev personally you probably hurt their feelings with the first review and then really hurt them with the steam one. they probably said they liked it as an attempt to be polite
>>43066431Imaging being so absolutely raped, that a single review on the internet can have you shitting yourself this much lmao. I am now adjusting my score from 2/5 to 1/5. I expect this will be your 13th reason why. I want top billing in your suicide note faggot.
>>43066437Okay? I'm supposed to like it because it will hurt their feelings if i don't? I offered my criticism, how it could improve. When they started borderline suicide and soom posting i offered them an war if they needed it. Then I'm guessing what ever guy box they hang out in or is adjacent to them came here to also cry about it. Now I'm just going to keep laughing at them. They should of just called me a dumb nigger and moved on like a normal person rather than over sharing on 2+2 channel and getting a group of faggots to white knight.
>>43066456Auto correct is a bitch, was walking while typing."Doom posting i offered them an ear if they needed it. Then I'm guessing what ever gay hug box"
>>43066456don't know why im responding honestly, it's clear there's no stopping your rant. but no, they're no they're not the type of person to beg others to white knight for them, you're just rage baiting lol
>>43066505my responses to the people saying it's unrealistic demands or demanding i just like it because it has a horse are completely retarded. I'm pretty sure the group that came to his defense are a particular group of faggots. I could be wrong but it doesn't really matter. I stand behind my posts. They're funni and I'm really cool
>>43066533>my responses ... are completely retardedtrue, you're right about that
Well, I haven't seen that thread direction coming. That fell off quickly.
>>43067025I blame (You). Need more mares
>>43067396you could've just let the thread die at this point anon sage
>>43067025That's what happens d*scord niggers infest shit. I give this theead... 0/5

>>43067440FoE Remains is really good and free if you haven't played it
>>43067426Am I going crazy or did someone take the scam from famous mass shooter sam Hyde and make it into a real game? I vividly recall seeing ads recently with the characters
>>43067482What do you mean, "Scam"? That game was finished years ago.
>>43067482>famous mass shooterWait what? He went postal?
>>43067420Yeah I was interested in that one. In the demo video though, the horses look like they're made out of plastic and if you check the devs output they're making something very similiar where you get to be a cat as well.So it'll.probably be slop but if its not pricey I'll buy it anyway for the laughs.
>>43067482>I vividly recall seeing ads recently with the charactersDark Skyes ponies were generic OCs, so you might just have seen some other project. There was one posted recently, but it was about gay stallions.
>>43067920i know, but i like the concept of just being a horse in the wild. it's super cute even if realistically there wouldn't be much to do anyways
>>43067426>>43067482There was a demo floating around. I think like one of the artists Sam commissioned was pissed that it turned out to be a scam and went ahead and made his own demo, or something like that. It was just a single chapter though.
>>43068155ain't no way there was a demo... was there?
>>43068303Allegedly yes.
>>43059690not gonna lie but battle gem ponies look like total horse shit no ones care about. why does he keep developing this instead of giving up?

>>43068411probably a virus, but im downloading anyways because windows sucks ass and i don't care about this computer anymore
>>43068436oh shit it works
>>43068368Yeah it advertises on derpy constantly. You would think people would care but no one does. It's apparently actual shovel ware I guess. Anyone give it a real try? Their youtube has zero traffic too despite spending so much money shilling.
>>43068446so far it's laughably bad. i like how you can see no hooves in the stock footage backgrounds. music seems to be royalty free generic shit too but maybe im wrong. how much money did they raise for this?
>>43068455for what it's worth i am having fun with it, im curious to see what you can actually do. but it does feel like a generic japanese high school VN with characters switched out for ponies. might as well keep posting the adventures of FUCK ALL THE HORSES
>>43068446AFAIK it's meant to be a pokemon clone. I don't know about shovelware, it's a two-man part time team as far as I know, and I think they might have been developing a lot of the engine themselves rather than using something like RPGMaker.I think it's kinda cute, but they are taking five million years to get anything finished, because one guy took it upon himself to sprite five billion not-pokemon pony sprites with variations, fusions, full sets of attack animations etc. before actually getting the actual gameplay content done. So the only thing they've released so far is like a 30 minute alpha, and it's got no online or multiplayer, meaning there's literally nothing to do after you've toyed with it once.I kinda wish they had made like a shitty MMO type game with online lobbies you could go into and battle others with your ponies, rather than spending an eternity trying to lay out a single player quest that will probably play like a mediocre pokemon romhack.
>>43068455>how much money did they raise for thisZero I think.Yeah the horsenews article says so too:>After many months of virtual silence and no attempts to solicit money from anyone
>>43068473yeah i just noticed this demo is from 2014 too, anyone aware of a more recent one?>>43068446have a link to their official youtube? when i look it up it's just the meme video because youtube search is ass
>>43068469still have yet to fuck a horse
>>43068481>anyone aware of a more recent one?As far as I'm aware the project never went anywhere (like most volunteer fan projects), and this chapter 1 demo with placeholder backgrounds is the only thing that was ever produced.
>>43068484
>>43068502ok commie mare is a cutie
>>43068512welp, played through it. had what i suppose could have been some mildly interesting story arcs. i liked the commie mare and the gamer mare, but after 12 years im just a teeny tiny bit doubtful this end screen is accurate
>>43068470They still don't have the multi player? It should be so easy to do?
>>43068670Like I said it's a team of two guys with apparently zero time management skills. One guy is sitting dawn to dusk spriting for an incomplete game, the other is is a dev working in his free time after his full-time job, apparently implementing most of a 2D game engine by his lonesome (and apparently not being particularly fast at it).Given that they've been spinning the wheels on any sort of tangible playable content for like a decade, overran their initial release by years, overran every single deadline since then, are shilling constantly with zero effect and have no interesting game yet, I'm not surprised they've failed to prioritise multiplayer either.I don't even remember if multiplayer is in their initial roadmap at all.
>>43068470if he markets it right and actually ever releases it i think it'll probably do pretty well. i mean he uses the word "pony" loosely with the designs, but some autists outside of the fandom would probably eat up a pokemon clone regardless. it would be nice to see it succeed even if i dont really consider it mlp fandom content
>>43068729If you lose the pony it just becomes a generic clone that now has to fight with all the other clones. Even fighting is magic died once they lost the pony aspect.
>>43068692Imagine if instead of paying thousands to derpi and others for ads. They just hired another coder to help. What a crazy idea.
>>43068729I honestly wish him success but I'm not even sure at this point. At its core it's an indie pixel-graphics pokemon clone single player game with probably not that much content or replay value. The number of indie games released per year has been growing every single year, everyone talks about how lucky you have to get to be spotted and actually get some sales in the veritable sea of decent quality releases out there (let alone the ocean of garbage making it even harder to get noticed). I'm not aware of any particularly intense demand for pokemon battler clones, and there's always a myriad of actual pokemon romhacks already available, many of them lauded for being pretty damn good quality. I just don't see what BGP has to distinguish itself, other than being a pony fandom game.>>43068742>thousands for derpi adsMaybe true for others but source on that? Derpi often hosts pony fandom projects pro bono (and it's known that they have a pretty loose interpretation of things, and probably wouldn't have purist qualms about BGP not being pony enough). Given how often the ads are up they probably do pay them but I wouldn't be surprised if it was at a discounted rate.
>>43068751Derpi just uses the same kinda portal as 4chan. It's not a ton of money. I believe that it was like a month of free ads for projects, but this has been going on since like 2020 at least. Probably earlier than that. They aren't getting free ads for nearly a decade.
>>43068736looks like PT ocs
>>43068765Yeah fair.>it's not a ton of moneyDepends on who else is bidding, since it's an auction (at least normally), and on the number of visitors which I think is pretty respectable for derpi. It's not a ton of money but if they are paying for it in fair auction for years, either derpi has near zero demand and the prices are dirt cheap, or they might actually have spent thousands. If so, then yeah, kinda wtf.
Wait he's been working on this for 10 years? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liw4ByitMNMThis hurts my heart honestly, dude is super nice and enthusiastic, I hope by some miracle it does well... but... he might be putting too many eggs in one basket and I'd just hate to see it tear him down.
>>43068770I think it was around 20 ish dollars for a few days last i checked (2010s). So over the long run it was a shit ton I'm sure. Easily 4 grand I'd bet
Is catfood or electrokaplosion still here? Are they willing to share sales numbers? Like I'm actually curious how much they managed to get from the sale , probably far more than this board (and I had the games, I gifted mare quest to a bunch of horse friends tho)
>>43068806I bought one copy of the mare Quest. Gave it a 2... out of 5.But I'm curious too. If they made a bunch of sheckies they could pay some Russians to help make cute mares, and destabilize the us economy.
bump to kill before there's another shit show
>>43068796i wonder how much traffic an ad on derpi actually generates. i doubt i've clicked on more than one or two since its inception
>>43068806MQ made about $500 and SH2 made about $700
>>43068968From just these past 2 days??? I know steam takes their cut but how can you not have money left over to hire at least one other artist?
>>43068978before steam 30% cut and refunds and steam pays out for the following month
>>43068978>he actually thought indie game dev made money
>>43068978he's just shitposting anon, i doubt he knows how much any of the games made
>>43069010That still leaves 350 from 2 days. How many refunds are you getting ? >>43069020As an indie dev doing their taxes atm, yes we certainly can. Though a lot of the "profit" goes back into the studio and projects itself.>>43069027I make software and games. Not sure why you think it's trolling to question not having any money to pay artist if youre pulling 116 or so sales in 2 days alone granted it was a special promo. i have to assume either they are getting super over charged and stuck thinking they must use that same singular horse famous artist. Or the vague post about why they can't make the game free is that the artist is also getting a perpetual percentage of all the sales.
>>43069140anon the MQ and SH2 dev are two different people. the first MQ game IS free and it's common knowledge they made the second one just for the steam items which can't be on free games
>>43069020Yes
>>43068806im not them but steam db lower values seem realistic enogh
>>43069272that's players i think
>>43069245The dev for mare Quest if you look up, states he couldn't make the game free for another reason he couldn't say? Unless I'm reading this somehow wrong? I'm also not saying charging money is bad, I think it's good. It would be silly not to charge money when it can help you make the product better.
>>43069316ek doesn't like selling things in general i remember him giving away hundreds of albums at mare fair for free. pretty sure he's rich to begin with
>>43069345No thats obviously not true because he keeps saying how he can't afford to do more and how he's a one man team now and stressing out over it blah blah blah woe is me. If he was a rich nigga, he wouldn't be bitching about this shit like a teenage girl.
>>43069442>If he was a rich nigga, he wouldn't be bitching about this shit like a teenage girl. You'd be surprised
>>43069442well i dont know anon, ask him elsewhere if you're so interested. the thread is going to die soon
>>43069453You're probably right. If he was born into wealth I wouldn't be surprised if he was rich and then also just retarded. >>43069459He's still lurking. He strikes me as the type to obsessively research himself. No offense to you marequest anon. I don't dislike you or anything.
>>43069490if you played his games you'd know he is just retarded
>>43068968Sources? You one of em?
>>43069490You can strike it rich and still be retarded, see Elon Musk. The idea that people who get rich got there because they're smart is the bullshit that they tell themselves, but we're not obligated to buy it.
>>43069316Seems you just imagined things
>>43069509this
>>43069498Ya know I'll be honest I just assumed that was the mq dev again. I questioned how he knew the other game but assumed maybe they talk. I mean no one goes online on four channel just to lie right?
>>43064747>>43069512>There are things about the price I am not comfortable disclosing here, but it's certainly not of my own choice.
>>43069553probably the artist cut
goodbye horsefest thread and good riddance
>>43069569Anon... thats what I said? And you all said I was crazy, and that he's rich. If he is stuck in with that horsefamous artist he needs to term that contract like now. He is getting screwed hard.
>>43069668i didn't say anything, i just chimed in with my thought
>>43069582Mods make this a sticky, and rape that anon and the ass
bump
>>43069553>>43069668Yeah that's kinda weird>why is it paid>"just for the steam items!">so why not make it cheap>"p-personal reasons..."I suppose my best guess is an artist cut contract and now he wants to honor it, so he doesn't need the money in itself but he can't cut the price because then he'd be breaching the artist's contract. That said the game probably makes peanuts and last I checked he was on good terms with all the artists involved so I'd be surprised if this was really such a roadblock.
>>43069730no it sounds spot on, the artists probably wouldn't have gotten involved without some kind of cut so he probably had to make concessions on the price
>>43069744I know for a fact he is, or at least was, good friends with the main artist of the entire game when it got developed. Again the game almost definitely makes peanuts now, especially after all the horsefuckers bought it for the memes, and now after the horse fest is over, it's gonna sell basically nothing at this point. It'd only make sense to me if he had a falling out with quote and they're not on close friendly terms anymore so he doesn't feel like he can discuss this.
>>43069754Eh, that's just being professional, IMO. You don't talk about how much you pay people, it's gauche and liable to start bad blood between the people you pay, even if you literally pay them the same amount.
>>43069754i don't see why he'd have to have a falling out though? maybe he's just not comfortable discussing the terms of a contract. it sounds like he would have rather the game be free from the start
>>43069772What? It's called business. It's also called "hey the game is barely getting sales now what do you think about dropping the price". They're practically business partners. It only starts bad blood if you insist on fucking over people and push to screw them over.
>>43069777We're talking about why he won't tell people the reason for the price not going down. Presumably he had that conversation, and one of the artists was like "I need the money for crack, please don't reduce my cut" or something, and he then declines to share that info with nerds who want cheap games.
>>43069786maybe he'd just feel bad lowering the price if the artist uses it as a source of income
>>43069792would actually make sense since the price has stayed the same outside of sales
>>43069792Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Doesn't matter the reason, at least one of the artists need money, and you don't want to tell people that because it's the internet and angry poorfags will go harass them
>>43069795i love red but he shouldn't have responded in this thread he gets too emotional
>>43069786>one of the artistsDoes he even pay multiple? I thought it was all quote. Plus some for the steam items but I'd assume those were cheapo one-time commissions and not a cut.
>>43069802did he not have any other artists actually working on filly fiasco?
>>43069802ThisHe said it was one artist. And if he is rich that explains so much. This is the worse trade deal possibly of all time. He paid the artist base fees and a perpetual licences? He got hoed. I don't know if the artist is part of the merchant guild but he damn sure is an honorary member.
