It was a steady process over time. I always had the issue of how much of the mod is about modernization and industrialisation. I always wanted the setting to be more fantastical and have actual ideologies that would come to exist in fantastical setting, not just copy paste of irl ideologies (especially when they dont even copy anything interesting). There are some dropplets of greatness I like from new updates that being Polar Bears, Azir, Zrantia, Tobuck and Sirens. But every single one of those there is more commie and liberal wank.

And I literally said, I dont want some copy-paste of irl ideologies, but a world that feels more fantastical. Learn to read, idiot.
>>
>>43040965
You do realize it's impossible to ask for "fantastical" idelogies, right?
>>
>>43040979
That is literally wrong. There are plenty of games or stories that do it.

They all base their ideologies on existing ones, they just twist/change some stuff or change names.

Yes, and? That is what I meant by actually making something that feels fantastical. There are plenty of niche ideologies and philosophical concepts that would work great in a fantasy setting. But in most cases, they just do the most mainstream liberal or commie shit.
>>
>>43041015
Like what? Even fictional settings have in-universe material conditions.
Often, even the commies aren't Marksist-Stallionists, but instead weird ideologies like Posadism.
The Dread League get lots of manpower, Greneclyf and Firtree get debuffs to some research types, etc.

my final campaign post I make for the Greneclyf submod
it wasn't worth the wait
the mod started out like a visual novel with a bunch of events then the amount of events reduced dramatically after I dealt with the famine but nothing else was really going on despite that
it took me until 1019 to unite the Riverlands and the only wars I fought were towards the end when Nimbusia, Lake City, and Deponya declined the federation
though I think the Riverlands in general just kind of sucks as an area, maybe it would have been more entertaining if I set the AI nations to try and kill each other
there was another side to the focus tree to try and overthrow Chrysalis across the Ocean but it was locked behind having finished the River Federation stuff
also the new naval dominance/naval supply range system in the latest DLC is total aids, what were they thinking?

her armies were pretty standard when I last played her, just make sure you put mage companies in everything and go down the magical supremacy side of the tech tree
once you have 20+ civilian factories building stuff and not stolen by the consumer goods factor I would just start spamming mils so you can get the equipment you want
pegasi are decent but special forces in general require a lot of support equipment in this mod which is a bigger investment than it looks
for your infantry just do 9 infantry battalions with engineers, arty, AA, and mages
make sure you build enough fighters
planes are more important than tanks in singleplayer, and if you decide to build tanks before the great war then I would just mix medium SPGs with pegasi (12 pegasi battalions + 6 medium SPGs)
it is difficult to get the industry for actual motorized/mech divisions before dealing with Chrysalis and the breakaways
medium flamethrower tanks and assault engineers are the best support companies you can put on your tank divisions but I wouldn't bother going out of your way to get them before the Great War if your focus tree doesn't give you a land facility for free, since you are better off just building more factories imo

>I did watch a tutorial that also said field hospitals are shit, I'll try a different support company next time.
Trickleback from field hospitals only really benefits infantry pushes, which is one of the least efficient and costly things you can do. The bonus HP does help if you max out the template with infantry due to how HP works.

Hospitals are more justified on tank divisions or other spearheads due to the EXP loss mitigation, and the fact they obviously take a lot of damage in the first place.

I genuinely didn't know either, it may have been the submod since I was playing Project Phoenix.
The leader was Highhill, I took out Stalliongrad while Nova was having its civil war which prevented the communists from winning.
>>
>>43045060
>>43046397
Same anon here, the Griffons joining the war actually wasn't too detrimental because the AI didn't have an army ready on the border yet while I had a bunch of infantry queued up in training so I just deployed them on the border and stole the line of forts they built from them to hold them off with while I focused on the bugs.
Most of my losses in the war were just right at the start because I forgot to build AA for piercing so the changeling tanks got a good first push in before I encircled them all.
It helped that I was already built up from my own civil war and abusing SPG + Pegasus divisions.
>>
>>43046397
Highhill gets wargoals on Yakyakistan, the Polar bears, the Penguins, and the Griffon Frontier. Were one of these in your faction?
Also, helping the traitors against the republicans as Equestria is retarded. The commies side with the harmonists in the civil war.
>>
>>43046447
The submod I was using for Equestria pitted me against Stalliongrad pretty early and they were already involved in Nova's civil war when it happened. Celestia was feeling very vengeful by that point.
None of those other minors were in my faction so my intent behind helping Nova was to use them as a land buffer when the lings invaded.
It didn't really matter in the end since I was able to hold them off pretty easily.

I am gonna be a contrarian and say current Equestria is THE ONLY good pony nation. When they rework they will lose me.

My reasoning is simple: hoi4 is a war game, Equestria's tree is perfectly designed to wage a war. There. No need for garbage mentally ill writing from pathetic failed males on discord.

Every single other race no longer has a nation worth playing. All jew griffon lovers had their nation turned into trash with pathetic narratives. Even Verany becomes boring after 1 playthrough. All slavic Ponies are garbage, and the only nation worth playing which was Lake City will be reworked into a democracy and economics simulator. Cat lovers literally have a garbage nation with a depression simulator and an ugly cat named GOMEZ, fucking gomez, latinx devs with the surnamed gomez just put their surname as one of the main characters of EaW. Dog lovers too have lost bronzehill, the whole reason to play bronzehill was to get leaders with Dog themed parodies of real people, with amazing names like Rosey Luxembark or my favorite, Ernst Thalpoodles. Like holy shit, how could the devs ruin something so difficult to ruin, all they need to do was update gameplay and keep the names. The ruiined gameplay and ruined the characters. Literal retarded filth the bunch of EaW devs, all of them

And the one I hate the most, colthage being mexico instead of carthage. Something the devs themselves have defended when it released. Colthage for no fucking reason is about zebra mexico, not zebra carthage despite the name. If that doesn't bother you, you have no soul.

I actually didn't mind Zongo and its minigame since they lead into lots of wars but how are you supposed to replay countries like that? when I boot up Austria in vanilla, I don't need to do twenty focuses about how Kurt Schuschnigg wakes up in the morning and goes to work. I'm not bombarded by events about how my actions affect the lives of Austrian peasants. I don't need to wait three years and then deliberately lose to Hitler to unlock some super secret Austromarxist path, it's available to me from the get-go.
And being a communist actually matters because you know what else vanilla does better than almost any mod? Foreign policy and ideologies. HoI4 modders cream their pants over having a hundred obscure subideologies but none of this has any relevance to the game. In vanilla, fascist countries have an incentive to send volunteers to other fascist countries at war because the escalating tension will eventually result in a world war and you'll need all the allies that you can get. In EaW, faction building is turned off by default so being an anarcho-monarchist with Griffonian characteristics matters fuck all.

>>
>>43047167
I'm talking about the previous one, where the choice is between releasing Chiropterra as a puppet, doing deradicalisation programs (basically increased compliance and reduced resistance), or executing the terrorists. Both the second and the third option give guilt-tripping events, while the third option also results in Posada killing herself and effectively ends your focus tree there.
Executing them using radiation is messed up even if you understand that total Chiropterran death is the correct option.

>>

The Great War is too easy for Equestria now imo anyways.

Equestria is for playing defensively, since it starts weak and gets stronger, being a mashup of various Allied nations. The Griffonian Republic is for playing offensively, with a bit of cleanup at the start followed by lots of guilt-free warmongering. Kiria is for development fans, with a few years of building things followed by several wars.
All of these still hold up. Everything else sucks.

First off all, we didnt really see much about actual EAW rework and how it will look.
And second of all there is also Project Pheonix which improved Equestria (civil war path) quite a bit.

>(civil war path)
WHO CARES
This is not Equestria content. This shit is fucking worthless.
A single electron being used on Equestria civil war content is an electron wasted. It would be better used by even the most savage tribesman to ever exist than that garbage.
>>
>>43048914
What we have seen of the rework so far sucks. Human writers can ramble, but there is usually some point that they are trying to get across. AI just spews out meaningless words.
Project Phoenix is a good mod so far. I really like the idea of a Celestia that's clearly losing her mind without going full Daybreaker. The only problem is that for all the insanity and guilt-tripping, the end result is really just an authoritarian country like most democracies.
>>
>>43048927
>This is not Equestria content.
You utter newfag. Civil War was a part of the fandom from the fucking beginning.
>>
>>43048916
Equestria is literally the continental hegemon, retard. The Changelings are just weak uppity retards that give it a wakeup call that it needs to modernise.
>>
>>43048929
>Project Phoenix is a good mod so far. I really like the idea of a Celestia that's clearly losing her mind without going full Daybreaker. The only problem is that for all the insanity and guilt-tripping, the end result is really just an authoritarian country like most democracies.
Well, that is kinda the point. The final focus and event is literally about a cycle of 1000 years, starting anew.
>>
>>43048914
>that world tension icon
fitting for Project Phoenix's Celestia actually
I just wish the mod had other paths beyond the harmonic side of the civil war
>>

That is a different submod. I just really like it.
>>
>>43048941
No, I mean that I like the idea of a character that's crazy without being all "SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!", but this was underwhelming because life for the people is just business as usual for any citizen of an authoritarian democracy.
>>
>>43048966
As I said, it is clearly the point. It is about Celestia acting those 1000 years again, except (unlike before when she was trying to fill her broken heart with love for her subjects) she is now colder and more dictatorial (like Daybreaker Mother/protector light). The main focus the entire time is clearly on her inner suffering, which is literally spelt out to you in the final event.
>>
>>43048989
>Ermm I think Equestria should be allowed to win instantly and they should have infinite factories and they should also have the strongest army and and
Thank god you aren't a developer.
>>
>>43049002
Just admit that you hate the show, creaturefag
>>
>>43049008
Your cognitive dissonance is quite something. Project Pheonix Celestia literally subdued the creatures and put them rightfully under pony rule, because they need to be taught true ways of harmony and enlightened to give up their savage and barbaric ways.
>>
>>43049002
The fact that this is what you fags try to use as defense is greater proof of the TNO-ification of EAW than anything else. Zero argument, just pure distilled dishonesty to avoid confronting any criticism.
>>
Lorewise, Chiropterra is quite possibly the most retarded nation in the setting, and their presence just makes Luna seem like a selfish bitch who had an actual following when she revolted (despite revolting over being sidelined and ignored) rather than Nightmare Moon being a crime of passion.
You have these slavers on the coast next to Tobuck and Hippogriffia (both nations who have some diplomatic ties to Equestria) and nobody apparently knows they are there or has thought of actually dealing with them for the 1007 years they have been there.
Chiropterra somehow does better work at spying on, leeching from, and destabilizing Equestria than the Changelings ever did.
Somehow these slavers are totally secret despite raiding their neighbors for slaves constantly. They even somehow maintain an industrial economy and a modern combined-arms army in their hidden state, despite never engaging in outside diplomacy or trade (before 1007 anyways).
>>
>>43048989
EAW (especially the Great War) is literally just WW2 but in the MLP setting. If the cosmetics and voices didn't make it obvious, look at what the countries are actually doing. The Changelings (being insect Germany) are destroying their economy to manufacture weapons to steal everyone else's stuff. Everyone else is either dealing with internal issues or being normal countries. Equestria (being a mashup of the Allies) is gaining research slots, building civs, mils, railways, etc., and generally developing and building up for war. Stalliongrad (being a weird support tag version of the USSR) is dealing with the leftist infighting, modernising their agriculture, and doing the same as Equestria. The polar bears are at least trying to modernise so that they can put up some resistence to the Changelings. And so on.
>>
>>43049053
Chiropterra is just bat ISIS. Its neighbours know about it, but they are shitholes like Zarantia and Tobuck, so the weaker neighbours can't really put up a fight until later.
>>
>>43049053
makes sense
>>
>>43049053
Chiropterra is remnants of the civil war. It doesn't say anything about the extent of the following Luna had before Nightmare Moon. The civil war events both in NLR and in south east say much more about that. It makes an implication that she did have a following but not all batponies actually see her as Goddess or a leader. Which is highlighted by the fact that even if the bats win in the south, they can still choose to go their own independent way.
Nightmare Moon is still very much a representation of Luna´s desire to be loved.
>>
>>43049098
I thought they were chaos marines, someone owes me an explanation
>>
>>43049053
There are retards out there who like this nation btw
>>
>>43049144
>The fact that there was a civil war means Luna had a not insignificant following.
No, it doesn't. Civil War can be started with just a single cohort or legion of followers (literally how Romans did it). And she did lose. All it says is that she did have a certain amount of fanatical, dedicated followers. What Luna wanted was to be universally loved and accepted by ponies, not to be feared or shunned.
Fur Celestia sake, we literally have two PMVs about this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4tyvJJzSDk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPjVCIX5Fvs&list=RDH4tyvJJzSDk
>>
>>43049152
And there is also a big difference between Luna and Nightmare Moon. Because Chiropterrans speciffically worship Nightmare Moon, and see Luna as a mere shell and prison of their Goddess.
>>
>>43049140
How? The "wholesome" Carrot Stick that's still a terrorist?
>>
>>43049152
>No, it doesn't. Civil War can be started with just a single cohort or legion of followers
Then it either ends up as a coup or an easily crushed rebellion. Civil war doesn't happen without a substantial support base.
>Fur Celestia sake, we literally have two PMVs about this.
Lullaby for a Princess bends over backwards to paint Luna in a ridiculously, beyond undeservedly sympathetic light. And even it still doesn't present a case for a Luna who could or did inspire a civil war.

Forgive me for sucking at the game, but what's the strategy for the early game focus tree for Lan Kir, and which war goal to go for first? I've been speedrunning whatever gets me free units and free tech, and I went for Zeblu first but then got cockblocked by a war goal on the Roamans before taking Zongo
>>
>>43055697
It's actually gotten better since occupying Magehold now gives you a 100% research boost from the landmark modifier on the state.
>>
>>43056308
I'd suggest taking out the north first, then go south. If you can, try delaying fighting Roam until you get a really large army. They can be tricky. Ideally, your early wars should be fast. Blitz as hard as you can. Use the Nirik transformation to help with that.
>>

>>
>>43056421
its why you gotta rush wars against your first neihbors. It requires some micro, but quick encirclements are key. Ponypower will be your biggest issue, so try to take decisions that help with that. Dont be afraid to use your puppets.

my production suffered for it which was why I had so few divisions but I rushed artillery, engineers, recon rangers, and better infantry equipment asap to see if I could stack modifiers with the special forces doctrine bonuses + knights
by the time I got the second Dread War I had souped up knight divisions using 12 knights + 4 line artillery and maxed out doctrines so the support companies turned them into super soldiers
for the first time ever since I started playing this game I had to add AT to the divisions because the windigos had way too high armor to deal with, but by that point the AI had flooded the market with it so I was just able to buy plenty

Did another A-Z run, this time Kingdom of Wingbardy.

I decided to try a communist run, since I only ever did Beakolini runs before with this country. I conquered what my focus tree wanted after winning the civil war.

Pros:
>Fun civil war.
>A good setup for a war with Aquileia eventually.

Cons:
>This particular path feels very limiting.
>Story stuff, while not intrusive, feels kind of boring.
>The focus tree is tiny.

Overall, do not get this leader if your playing Wingbardy. Your better off going fascist or maybe one of the other ones. It does lead you to some nice conquest, but you don't really get any cores or formables. Just be a dick or a republican, I guess. Nothing much else to say.

If you want to go communist you should have gone with the Palmiro Toglitatti leader and do the Worker´s Empire

how so?

Probably. I thought rejecting the coupers was the right choice, but it seems it was not.

>want to try the reworked nations
>pick Zongo
>oh cool train autism
>first run ruined by Lan Kir rushing their wars
>-3 hours gone
>restart
>get a full army out and take the south
>Lan Kir invades again
>stuck in a stalemate until the Kaiser cunt invades
>another 3 hours lost
What the fuck are you supposed to do? Lan Kir has a bigger and better army that you can't push over that river against.

It removed her snowpity.
Were it not for the eyelashes you would think she is a stallion.

Compare and contrast.
>>
>>43066790
Don't try to make optimal divisions, you are gonna have to put out 12 width infantry shitters and just hold the line.
You basically fight WW1 style in the jungle. Grind the enemy down with static trench warfare. When you do finally get the fronts stabilized, invest in charger divisions and use them to encircle things.
As for the train stuff, the starting three options are the most important to get done asap.
>>
>>43066082
What does it do?
>>
>>43066835
Same anon adding on to this, since you are playing Zongo do grand battleplan and assault infantry as your doctrine.
The other doctrines are more up in the air but I generally prefer field engineering and rapid domination.
Tank doctrine is whatever. The meta players do the one that gives you breakthrough at the start. I usually go for streamlined deployment. I rarely use tanks in EaW regardless.

I was thinking of getting a 48 div 12w out instead, but they seem to stop attacking after a few waves and just sit there until the Kaiser comes.

>charger divisions
Do you mean those Zebra specialized ones or something like a 9-4?
>>
>>43066984
The Zebra special forces yeah. They are just better offensive infantry so you can use them or any other offensive infantry template, they are just the ones I used to carry me on my Zongo playthrough.
Really you just need enough lineholders to halt the Kaiser (or whoever wins over him) and Lan Kir.

Oddly cutem
>>

Well no, adding artillery is not a good idea. Because streangth of Chargers is that they are fast and have lot of piercing. They are very good for encircling and overruning.

>>
>>43067085
Alright, I'll try that plus spamming 12w holders. Do you keep the chargers at 12w too or should I increase it? Trying to figure out if I should try rushing that war or not. The window for the kaiser invasion is quite small.

On a separate rant, why the hell is Zongo so focused on domestic issues when they have two aggressive expansionist nations at their border? Like there's almost no events or decisions for it despite it being more existential than fucking vanilla Poland.

It was mostly stuff we already knew. Zar-Hay, another furry nation, the yetis. There was only one new teaser - the kelpies from Aestlonia.

Archibald Dawnfeather. He may not have the best content, or the best focus tree, or even the best events, but I just love this gimmicky pervert. He provided me one of my most memorable playthroughs in the mod, when I've puppeted Celestia.
