Go back in time with me for a minute:Is there anyone out there that thinks old Velvet DP (the safe on block version) was actually fair? I think there's an interesting argument to be made that it is, if you consider it as a reversal where the counterplay options are just switched around (blocking beats traditional DPs but loses to Velvet DP, but jumping which usually loses to traditional DPs beats Velvet DP). But clearly people hated it a lot and it was later made kind of punishable sometimes. I imagine the main counterargument is that intermittently jump during your own pressure to bait it is a much bigger disadvantage than stopping to block sometimes during your pressure, and how much you lose by having to jump a lot varies a lot by character.

DP RC has been a GG staple since they added the mechanic, but the cost has the be significant enough to limit its use so they can't just force you to hard bait it in every interaction and Velvet's wasn't, one magic stock on a character that regenerates them passively meant she just always had it if she wanted.
