They weren't a hired team of talent, like g4 they were literally whos because Cocks wanted to be a penny pincher.They slowly improve the show as it goes on, the bad lighting is fixed, the scripts improov, the camera motions are more dynamic. Early animations are stiff and awkward but by the end of it they can do both subtle and cartoony pretty well. But because they were based, they were set on keeping the horsey ear animations from the movie.

Not as good, but close enough to notice a faint feeling of early FIM and a classic slice-of-life episode about a friendship problem.So it is up to you, but I would recommend you try it, and then if you don't like it, just watch the movie or, better yet, go back to FIM, and if you have to, imagine G5 characters in the show (maybe interacting with the Mane 6 or something like that).
