Twigs is a nervous virgin who summons a human, who was on his way to the Portal To Equestria anyways, and he's understanding and walks her through a pleasant first time.
I'm not really sure why I review any of these cookie-cutter/by-the-numbers/one-trope style RGRE fics, given there are so many and they do not really differ. This is the "summons a mancubus" variety, but I guess it's probably in the upper tier of its kind because the early half is kinda nice and has a sort of levity in the prose and dialog I found enjoyable. The smutty second half is a bit more mechanical, there wasn't really anything added by the "understanding sex mentor" concept since the stakes of the story didn't really have much weight behind them.
The RGRE is mostly alluded to: stallions are spoiled for attention and have their pick,

Twilight does at least end up on top at the end but there's not really any remark made (I think, I skimmed the porn because it was boring).

Overall I can't recommend this but I won't recommend against it either. It's McMatriarchy on the odd occasion that the cheese is squarely centered on the patty.

Hot off the presses, a young human man named Calvin gets propositioned by everyone he meets in Equestria's service sector and then fucks the two owners of a cafe.
I wonder if RGRE is just exclusively the domain of zoomers who've never been told that London wasn't always like that. Why does every story require the MC to get sexually harassed in the brownest way possible by every mare around them? Calvin has already lived in Equestria for six months already, which then makes it weirder that the Calvin seems kind of taken aback and surprised by horny mare nonsense most of the time in the story.
Calvin agrees to this date, and then goes and meets his buddy Soarin who takes him clothes shopping. Soarin is presented as well practiced in managing mares' advances, so he acts as a sort of charismatic ward against the clothing store owners' relentless ficki-ficki behavior. To be honest, though, everyone in this story seems ready to recite smut to one another at a moment's notice, and always with the purring demeanor of a Gypsy fortune teller discussing a dark stranger, so it should come as no surprise that Soarin starts oozing about how Calvin should eat mares out on his first date. There's much ado about Calvin's virginity as well, which is maybe the closest to good RGRE we're gonna get, but is weirdly too much ado. Mechanically you would expect there to be a steady stream of colts coming of age, but the clothes store clerks are telling Calvin that even the princesses would line up for his first time. Wish fulfillment slop, no doubt.
Thereafter a whole chapter is dedicated to the two cafe owners, Caramel and Mocha, talking to each other about wanting HUMAN PENIS, Mocha recites some third-rate smut to Caramel unsolicited. The actual smut scene isn't really bad, just painfully by the numbers: offer to back out -> reassurance -> strip -> ogle at big penis -> they oral him -> he orals them and wow what a surprise it is -> sex. Lacks sense details and emotional impact.
"Confident Mare" in these stories really is just "permanent smug grin, invades space, sultry voice". Do we have any experiences with sexual confidence that aren't transcriptions of Abdul the local sex pest?

It's been a productive weekend for book reports. Unfortunately I have a confession: I enjoyed a Some Leech story. Maybe I'm just desperate for something passable, but for all his horrible taste in fetishes, SL is still upper-middle class in writing competence in this fandom, so his take on RGRE's least inventive formula is that old thing rendered in a superlative form.
It is the formula though: Isekai TF summoning-circle type of fic where a lonely OC fudges a spell to make a golem bf and gets Anon instead after he jerks off with a horse-themed pocket pussy anonymously sent to him in the mail. Initially energetic, there's a sadly typical lull for some meetings-and-tours chapters, and then it finally picks back up when Twilight shows up to investigate. Leech writes fine smut, and refreshingly only has any at the start of the story (oh, and no futas. Definitely worth mentioning). Someone unironically paid actual money for this, so the extent to which blame for any criticism falls on the writer vs. the patron is left to our imaginations.
The RGRE elements are that weird witching space between stereotypical "what's a colt like you doing alone" and "hur dur make me a sandwich" harassment and some higher realization of those things than usual (the grocery store scene is, dare I say, actually kind of hot) - if you've ever wanted to not pull your own face off reading these scenes, here's your chance. Still, this fic's only 2 years old, so the excuses for being so derivative are drying up. The OC is a bit more demanding of Anon at the start, insisting he do some "housemaking" stuff, but this is also partially because she thinks he's literally a coltfriend construct, presumably without a soul, and becomes apologetic and kind of doting and egalitarian after the explanations run their course. The sequence where Anon and OC talk with OCs friend and her husband contains a lot of dull witted sexism-portrayal, however, and was ultimately a bit too stilted and on-the-nose for my taste. Overall, RGRE is relevant to this story only in that it kicks off the intro and furnishes the scenery, but has meager relation to what meager plot carries on thereafter.
Overall I recommend. Some Leech doesn't meaningfully advance or deconstruct either topic or genre, but he can write a story, making this one of RGRE's strongest offerings.

I am really curious how partnership with the different creatures presents diferent complications.

Ponies have hay and raw plants in almost every meal, requiring planning around that if you want to eat together.

Dragons eat gems (while able to eat pony food) and - together with Kirin - need places to safely be "hot" in.

Changelings themselves should be fine, but the extended family can be hell.

Yaks just need to get their shit together. Clear case of "raising" your herd.
Aswell with griffons, but at least you share a meal plan with them.

Five (or 6) main characters work when you're doing a long-running television show and can afford to let one or two fall out of focus for half a season because the audience can trust that we'll get another Applejack-centered episode eventually.

It also only works when your cast is made of coworkers that aren't in a romantic relationship. Romantic relationships are strong. You fuck with one pone, you fuck with the whole herd, and if that herd is five characters or more then that's a lot of fuckery to deal with. You also need antagonists in a story, and when a sizable family is faced with an antagonist it's hard as fuck to write it without having one act on behalf of the whole group. Guardsmares solves this by making most conflict happen via one on one duels (as well as the cast still being coworkers with slight romantic undertones), but most romantic conflict isn't going to involve that sort of shit. Usually you're going to have a pone that has to deal with an angry boss, or an overbearing mother, and they're going to deal with each conflict separately for the most part, with the rest of the herd providing backup. So you either end up with a sprawling mess as each member of the herd has their own annoying rival to defeat, you relegate half your main cast to background pony status without any conflict of their own to overcome, or you handle the logistical nightmare of having a massive cast all pile on the asshole antagonist.

You could even switch perspectives to frame the disagreement for a nice juicy dramatic reconciliation, confession, or whatever reflected the ideas/subtext you wanted to explore in the story.

It absolutely can be done, just about any crazy premise for a story can be pulled off with enough effort and talent, it's just a shitload of work for very little additional payoff.

That's still complicated enough between two characters, making it about four is going to be tricky, and more than that is chaos. You can absolutely do it, but you have to ask yourself: is it REALLY worth managing all these extra variables just so that you have one or two more genres of waifu in the mix? Is it really worth the risk of your writing being far more unfocused and dragged down with reaction after reaction after oops wait I forgot this mare was in this scene lets go back and try to add some more dialogue for her? And what do you get out of it? Most M6 fics tend to merge characters together, Rainbow and Applejack will both be the tough marely ones, Fluttershy and Twilight will be the introverted ones, and you end up losing what makes those characters unique from each other because writing six unique perspectives on every issue is a nightmare.

The best remedy for unstarted and abandoned fics is to set more realistic expectations for yourself, and I think that trying to fit too many characters into a fic because you feel like you need more variety in personality is a common error. It's way better to put more strongly developed characters in novel situations.

I also think 5+ member herds can be written for shorter stories depending on how you use them. You can have scenes and subplots focusing on two or three of them at a time, or you can narrow the conflict to between two members with the others being a supporting cast for them to express viewpoints or motivations at with remarks coming from their unique backgrounds. Not everyone needs to have the spotlight in the story or have a chapter devoted to their reaction a few lines can be enough if they aren't a protag/antag.

There are plenty of ways to make larger herds work, but there's still not much that a story is gaining from that. Just make a non-herd side character. You could say this for any group of characters, but all that really matters is how you use them, and if they are developed enough for their purposes in the story.
Like I don't need to go in depth about why Applejack might expect some more traditional behaviors that Rarity thinks may be outdated. Everyone familiar with mlp already expects something like that, so a short story wouldn't need a lot of time to establish why they would hold these opinions and can just focus on the conflict itself, which could be about making a herd work. The rest can add their own insights or whatever in a follow up segment or two, and it could all be resolved in a final segment where they find a compromise that suits all their viewpoints.

No shade intended to review anon, his posts are one of the few reasons I keep coming back.
Don't get me wrong, wish-fulfillment IS basic shit but there's a reason all these stories feature Anon/anonstallion, a bland self-insert most of the time anons don't even want to see "lose". I think the only board that can compete with us on this is /jp/.
Don't forget where you are and where you came from is my point. I guess. You can and should explore the setting but there's some degree of wish-fulfillment you'll have to include even if just to fit in /mlp/'s culture. In the other hand, maybe it's the potential for more what kept this place alive while others like the herding general died.

Shit I remember how nearly exactly 10 years ago, when this place was filled with green, some anon posted something but made the mistake of revealing he was from the marital problems general.
