Apparently we got fame of portraying Appul like the one on the left but from all the time I've browsed here I rarely seen her be like that. Like sure zebra jokes are par of the course here but because our greens are Anon x AJ, that means that we genuinely don't see her as racist in any way, no way someone like that would even entertain a green monkey. I've genuinely seen her being portrayed closer to the right than to the left here, minus the AppleDash because obvious reasons.

And AJ asking for help of her magical princess friend is what she does quickly, real character development here, compare how she deals with a problem in S1 to this episode. It was Twi that came up with the idea to change nature and make them not eat apples, which actually worked, the only real drawback was that Fluttershy somehow transformed into a bat and at that point AJ just wanted her friend back and was so happy when things went back to normal that she was willing try Fluttershy's idea. But again, the plan worked and it's not like that's what AJ wanted in the first place, she just wanted to move them away and that's it, she was more violent with the parasprites and tried to kill those with pesticide but no one really cares about bugs anyway.

Like, what if she's got an Aunt from her mom's side or cousin, wouldn't that be great? To know more ponies that knew of her mom and also gets to bond with the family she never knew she had?

Like instead of having the friendship map send them there to conduct a play, you could have just had that same story come about naturally from them going to visit Aunt and Uncle Orange.AJ having so many family members all across Equestria was a great setup for having episodes take place all over, it's just a shame the show didn't take better advantage of it.

Come to think of it,I remember that Lauren once said that she wanted the show to have more adventures and be a bit more globetrotting around Equestria, so AJ having family all over the world might have been part of that original vision that stuck. That's why the criticism of AJ being too tied to the farm never rang true to me, she's already someone adventurous that's willing to travel far, plus she's got family everywhere
I've been tempted to get into mlp but I'm worried that if I do I will develop an unhealthy obsession with applejack.
