SFM-pony is just premade slop models which are easier to animate in source because effort is hard and its easier to go for the lowest hanging fruit. But by using SFM you will never escape that awful rubber lightbulb head with plastic manes if you use SFM community models. Thankfully someone else made a 3d g5 community base years back, but because it's a blender rig that filters out all the sfm skillets. What the zipflagnon is doing is neither, which is to make it from scratch because g5 was officially made in blender. I can tell you that the MYM crew would not use Maya if they had a choice - its way more complicated, but they were given Maya rigs from the movie so thats what they were forced into.

Since this is essentially the only G5 thread left standing, I have to ask: did any of the production staff talk about the project after it wrapped? Like, surely they felt slighted when Hasbro pulled the plug out of the blue, and wanted to give an interview.
