Anything goes! Try to keep it pony related. All sorts of ideas, thoughts and questions are welcome, from the brief to the in-depth, especially ones that don't really fit elsewhere at the moment but also don't warrant their own thread either.Talk to each other! You'll find that sometimes asking further questions and bouncing ideas off one another can let a small thought blossom into something greater. However, please respect the following: Refrain from posting about drama (IRL and online), political shit, baiting and starting/participating in shitflinging/ angry shouting matches. >>43114274The movie had a really weird production cycle. Discussed in 2012, announced in 2014, and I don't think writing started until 2015. McCarthy was supposed to work on season 5 but left the show to write the movie. Thiessen also stepped down from the show pretty much entirely after the season 5 finale to be supervising director on the film full time. Then 3 additional writers joined McCarthy in writing the script. What bothers me the most is that nothing really happens and most of the characters say nothing or act like retards. Twilight is the only one that sort of gives a shit about what's happening and her friends constantly fuck things up the entire time. It feels incredibly out of place when releasing in the middle of season 7 where there're all of these characters that are now shoehorned into FiM. The storm king is retarded and his origins or where the rest of his army came from is never explained or explored. I'm glad Ingram got to work with a full live orchestra for the music, but man everything else kind of just sucked.
ITT:
The show would've been a lot more enjoyable if Trixie never came back.
>>43114450I kinda forgot how much the storm king sucked. His lines felt like they were based on some kids son making fun of their daughters pony toys. At least you get to see him die though
My interest is waning again. Waiting for the mlp phase to come back. doomscrolling doesn't help though.
>>43114837Interest in what? Or like in general?
>>43114860In general. I was never interested in the shallower parts of this fandom anyway. All I can really do is rewatch the show and come up with my own, better ideas that'll stay trapped in my mind forever.

i fukken love ponies
>>43114982Haha what who would want to do that lol
>>43114983Ponies love you too! Or at least I'd like to imagine they do.
i might as well get this off my chest before the retarded schizo completely poisons the well.i think i've finally distilled what it is i actually hate about snowpity and marespam: what i want out of ponies is something very different to what snowpityfags and mareschizos do.i want a living, breathing equestria, filled with ponies of all kinds: young and old, male and female, every race, every color, every disposition and personality, all with their own story to tell. a lot of /mlp/, it turns out, does not want this. they want cute mares doing cute things, and nothing more.depending on the individual, male characters may range from simply being completely devoid of the appeal they're looking for, to being an active obstacle to enjoying the mares. so, ignoring they exist altogether has become the marefag default state of being when engaging with mareschizo behavior or snowpity culture. and the popularity of those things has caused both /mlp/'s oc, and ocs to have a near 100% female bias. to the average marefag, this is ideal, but to me, it just feels like a giant gaping void where all the colts and stallions should be.don't get me wrong, i love mares and fillies. aesthetically, i prefer them to their male counterparts. but equestria, or any pony setting for that matter, doesn't feel complete without both. on that topic, stallionfags don't get a free pass either. the only difference between them and marefags is that they're a minority, and thus don't have the numbers to dominate /mlp/'s culture in the way marefags do, and so they settle. they dream of an all male equestria just as marefags dream of an all female equestria.but back to snowpity: it truly is nothing more than a ponified version of moe, and the marexclusivity so much of this board desires: nothing more than cgdct. but that's not what g4 is. g4 is far, far closer to my ideal of a living equestria filled with all types of ponies. what snowpityfags actually want, is g3. that show actually was cute mares doing cute things and nothing more. but nobody cares about g3, so they try to turn g4 into g3. they take g4's equestria and chop away at it until it resembles the cmdct world they actually want.and from that truncation, it spreads, changing language and culture. background pony becomes background mare, "who's your favorite pony?" becomes "who's your favorite mare?", "i love ponies!" becomes "i love mares!". slowly but surely, deliberate exclusions become the norm, the default, and the gaping void grows.i am a true ponyfag, i love ponies of all kinds, and i always will. i reject the semi-recent cultural shift of passively limiting which ponies are included in common speech. i push for the inclusion of stallions not because i prefer them to mares, but because i strongly prefer having both to having just one. to an extent i get it, but it's still a push against what i love about ponies. i will never be a marefag, nor a stallionfag, fillyfag or coltfag. but i will always be a ponyfag.
>>43115066I respect that stance. The core fantasy for me has always been imagining what it would really be like to be in Equestria and that means caring about more than just cute ponies doing cute pony things, though I do like that part.
>>43114995I can't imagine anypony but Dash.
>>43115077At all!? Wow your Equestria is going to be super boring if it's just you and Rainbow Dash.
>>43115066grok summarize this for me
>>43115080Wouldn't have it any other way, desu
>>43115066The solution is that we should all watch My Little Pony Tales.
>>43115084Dashie's gonna really struggle with that one, good luck!
>>43115066I respect your stance and relate with wanting a fleshed out Equestria as opposed to ponified moeslop, but I'm also amused by your critique of deliberate exclusions while excluding any mention of creatures whatsoever. A couple of mythical creatures have always been part of what I'd consider essential to Equestria, and Lauren Faust sure thought so, too. S1-2 had solitary monsters and wanderers, beings quite different from ponies (who already were a diverse people as exemplified not only by the 3 tribes and M6) and thereby presenting challenges that may or may not be resolved unanimously. Zecora and Cranky stuck around, but Gilda, Iron Will, the red dragon and others moved on. Ponies represented a healthy, high-trust society, one capable of resolving friendship problems naturally as they arose, and if you harmed this ideal, you got chased out regardless of being Gilda the griffon or Trixie the unicorn. Or turned to stone if you were deliberately subverting it. I'll argue this display of social coherence and problem-solving is what made FiM a rolemodel for kids and autists, not the written words of phoned in friendship reports. And then these fascinating creatures were ruined as soon as the show introduced a kingdom of dragons, only for them to be pathetic retards, and a kingdom of griffons, only for them to be pathetic retards, too. But it's not only the creatures, old and new, that were done dirty by giving them half-baked failed societies of nothingness (except for gimmicks that made them fursona-bait), the ponies were also done dirty by neglecting small yet essential elements that originally gave them an identity and made them feel like a living, high trust society of universal appeal and applicability. Some of those neglected qualities are the horsey behavior and innocence that have been distilled into Snowpity, but instead of integrating this lost essence back into Equestria, it has been extracted and made its own thing despite lacking in many things that had made poniponi poniponi in the first place. Including but not limited to qualities inherent to the ponies, for the quality of the average fan artist cannot match a team of Faust, Renzetti, Larson, Ingram and co. The show also ruined Discord but that won't stop me from adoring what I see in him, or from wanting to capture a glimpse of Equestria that had once upon a time been a magical land of peaceful ponies and strange beasts. You'd like some of the ideas I have, despite categorically dismissing me as a person due to waifuism. By the time I will have turned those glimpses into art, I hope you will be spending your time more wisely than arguing on /mlp/.
I want to know what do you guys do or interact if not on the board? I don't think you'd fancy Discord or Reddit, so where do you talk to each other or hang out?
>>43115364Reddit, Discord, Twitter.
>>43115364Steam, playing vidya with the /mlp/bros
>>43115364Me? Nowhere. I have no friends and don't fit in on social platforms. It's part of the reason I look forward to the anni so much.I just kind of exist somewhere in the void.
>>43115364Mostly Discord after we moved there from Skype or the old Flockmod room. I don't join really large servers filled with thousands of people, which is how a lot of people see Discord. It's best used as a chatroom for friends to post memes and talk to each other. While I don't love discord entirely, I feel like the overwhelming hate for it is sort of performative and also comes from a place of anger because they can't find or make a friend group to talk to on there. Reddit sucks and Twitter is filled with insufferable retards that want to argue about every little thing and that gets tiring. Steam also works, but I rarely use it as a social platform.

>>43115300>I'm also amused by your critique of deliberate exclusions while excluding any mention of creatures whatsoever.for one i didn't have room, and for two, my feelings on creatures are kind of complicated. i don't inherently have a problem with them as individuals, but the ponies are clearly the most important species of the world for many reasons, both in-universe and out, so expanding them to full on cultures is kind of weird. in a lot of ways the addition of several other sapient species actually weakens the worldbuilding in my opinion. i don't think there's anything wrong with their existence, but i also don't think there's anything wrong with occasionally handwaving them away to to focus more on the ponies. there's a time and a place for them, but ultimately it's still a pony-based world for both us, and all of its inhabitants.>You'd like some of the ideas I havei'm sure i would>despite categorically dismissing me as a person due to waifuism.lets not get ahead of ourselves. it's points against you, sure, but waifufaggotry alone isn't enough for me to completely disregard someone. that takes a lot.>By the time I will have turned those glimpses into art, I hope you will be spending your time more wisely than arguing on /mlp/.couldn't decide whether to say>don't we bothor>lol. as if.so just pick whichever you prefer i guess.
