I got utterly sick of "flicker of vulnerability, quickly masked" and similar by Sonnet, so I've been trying Gemini 3.1. The difference in character behavior is staggering. Current Gemini reminds me of old Claude 2.1 where dangerous characters were actually dangerous and would fuck you up if you disrespected them. It also shares some of that unpredictability where it'll occasionally take things in a direction that isn't necessarily the most obvious or logical next step. I still like Sonnet but goodness is this a nice change to have for a while. Also sometimes it gets hard to notice the user bias it has until you experience what it's like without it for a while.Twilight is still a science jargon spouting nerd, though.

Yeah I'm stuck on step 1. Trying to get the frontend to work and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. First time trying any of this figured it might be fun. Downloaded git and nodejs or whatever its called, installed it all at as default. Ran the command to install SillyTavern, cloned the repository, ran "Start.bat" and no matter what I do, how i install all this garbage I cant get it to work. I wish it was smarter about it too. For example in pic related Twilight could have cast some AoE spell and see where it got absorbed, but such lateral thinking is beyond AI most of the time.
I wonder what percentage of anons primarily roleplay versus primarily letting the LLM direct things for them. Nowadays it seems like logs from the latter are much more common but that could be a selection bias thing.

IMO, just letting the AI do everything, spamming "continue" or sending just a single line, will quickly turn the outputs to slop. Inserting human writing is always good.I do pure roleplay too, but in some stories I don't mind the AI speaking for me if it's in character. It helps with the rhythm and creates better back-and-forth. If the AI focuses too much on a single character in an output, it can encourage repetition or slop.
