City builder with a pony coat of paint would work. But then you have to choose if you want something like Cities Skylines, Banished or Frostpunk.I think a Banished clone with some intimacy and kino art from Frostpunk would work wonders. But with much less death, starvation, freezing and such. What the goal and persistent threat that would move to expand would be I have no idea.

Less death and bleakness and more balancing the wants and needs of different types of ponies (high end store ponies want fancy decorative roads, fancy parks and a train station for tourists, famer ponies want utilitarian roads, showgrounds and a freight station). Friendship problems and small disasters could crop up from time to time and you'd have to resolve them. Maybe down to the individual pony.

>>43130849Vice City was probably the best overall, San Andreas had the most interesting world, 3 deserves credit just for innovating the whole concept. 4 was okay for what it was, but it basically killed the franchise by proving that it had basically run its course and had nowhere else to go besides transitioning from "fun sandbox world" to "the sims with guns." 5 is basically the G% of the GTA universe. It exists, some people like it for some reason, that's about all you can say.

Great story and setting, very playable, and tons of mods.II had a really distinct vibe that I remember fondly, some of the missions were way more unhinged than any other game.III, SA and IV are kinda darker and more serious which takes out some of the fun for me.V is a really good game, Rockstar climbed another level with this one. It's a good blend of all of the above, though being a blend, it has better and worse.

SA had a story that dealt with theoretically serious topics, ie police corruption, gang violence, shady government agencies, that sort of thing, but it still handled it in a completely tongue-in-cheek, non-serious way. The LS part of the story was basically just a caricature of 90s hood films, the rest of it was just poking fun at X-Files government conspiracy type stuff that was popular around the same time.IV's problem was that it took itself way too seriously. V's problem was that it just plain wasn't that good. The story was too short, Franklin was a boring character, and it didn't really have anything that IV didn't have, apart from animals and the submarine. They skimped on the single-player mode that made the series what it is in order to push an online mode that nobody wanted or cared about. Plus I think it was around that time that Rockstar started becoming super cunty, forcing you to create an account with them to play the game, and download a phone app to mod cars, and whatever other stupid stuff they did.
