>>43144112>>43145000It’s a laptop but shittier and with bing bing wahoo thumb sticks built in. There’s nothing that this won’t do that a laptop with a Bluetooth controller (PS4/Xbox controllers both work incl off brand controllers) and big screen mode can’t already do, it only wins in the size metric and loses in the price, performance, battery life, and usability metrics. Basically, it’s a meme device, with support being tied to proton compatibility (since it runs steamOS)TL;DR, no, get a laptop with good specs if you want portability for games, or just use a mobile emulator on your phone.
>>43145081Thanks a lot Anon, you’re a really nice person
>>43144112I enjoy mine, but I've been using it as a portable Linux desktop at work more than a game console recently. It's main asset is very high portability and steam integration, but if you don't care about either a laptop will suit you better. Achilles heel is definitely the battery life once you start playing something that either taxes it or is super unoptimized. I mostly just tote mine in a small bag to work and toss it in a dock to use with an external monitor and mouse.
I don't really play videogames anymore
>>43144112I absolutely adore mine. I got it in 2022 and I've been using it constantly ever since. Other anons mentioning stuff about laptops have a fair point, if you REALLY just want a laptop, won't hurt to get one. The 'eck is like super versatile though, you can get portable bluetooth keyboards for it and get a setup sort of like a little laptop if you really really wanted, and the dock is just fantastic. I was gonna post this in /chag/ to show off a setup that EquestrAI inspired me to make, but I'll post it here first.I got a portable lightweight monitor and a posable standing floor-arm for it. I hook it up to my docked Deck and it lets me fall asleep to going on adventures in Equestria with ponies or directing my own little episodes to read. Of course, being an irresponsible degen and using it to stay up late playing Diablo 2 with a controller or some shit is also something I do a lot.Concerns about battery life are valid but the newer OLED models are supposedly a bit better about it. Valve lets you buy all of the parts on iFixIt and they're real nice about repairs, and the build quality has been way more reliable than any laptop I've gotten so there's that too. It can run pretty modern games well, but the battery life gets kind of eh (at least on an LCD) if you're doing that. Retro can go for hours, but, you could also get something more lightweight and cheaper if you wanna do retro. The real appeal of a Deck is how versatile it is; it's the best gaming purchase I've ever made, but you seriously want to think about what you want to do with such a device and if "I want gaming companion hardware to my PC that can do everything and replace all of my consoles with my giant Steam library when docked and then ALSO be a handheld that lets me play those on the go" is what you want.If so, yeah, this shit is so damn worth it. I love mine to the point I'm actually curious about what the next iteration will be like even though I already have one.
>>43145081What about 'eck ripoffs like the ones from Lenovo and Asus? How are they compared to it?
>>43146254Nice
>>43146254Thank you very much for the explanation. Your setup looks very cozy and comfortable, and on top of that, it has a really super cute plushie!
>>43147464>>43147550Ayy, no worries! It is super comfy too yeah. The Ponka is even scented with the Ponk scent from soappone so she smells really nice, too. Best part is being able to yoink the Deck out of the dock later and just continue whatever I was being a lazy fart with in bed while I'm cooking breakfast or dinner or whatever. It's the chillest thing ever. Also seriously falling asleep to hanging out with ponies in EquestrAI is extremely underrated, highly recommend it. It's like being a grown ass man playing with My Little Pony toys but on your computer and also like being a grown ass man falling asleep to personalized bedtime stories of your favorite pony. I promise it's actually more fun and comfy and not nearly as pathetic as that kek.
>>43146254Kek what is this backgroundDo you live in an abandoned clinic or something
>>43134112Just downloaded Dark Skyes. Can't wait to play!
>>43147975LOL, I was wondering if someone would point that out. Yeah, I have room renovations on my agenda for this year. It's pretty messy at the moment while I'm getting things sorted and there's an unfinished paintjob on the walls. Family member was painting it but kind of lost interest, so I'm gonna fix it up later once I get everything together for it.
