However rare the ability to change someone's sex is, some can do it. Which means anyone who wants to change their sex can just pay for the services of the nearest mage who can perform that spell and change their sex anytime they wantHonestly sex change spells in any fantasy media are naturally going to result in a lot of the population changing their sex, just to see what life on the other side is like for a while, and some would decide to leave their sex changed permanently. If you can rip ponies apart molecule by molecule and piece them together without fail using magic I see no reason you couldn't rip a pony's dna apart and put it back together in a different way such as turing a pegasus into a unicorn. This could also explain the excess of mares in the universe perhaps Princess Cadence has turned many a creature into cute mares so they can all fuck. This would also explain why the other animal races hate pony-kind because they keep taking their people and turning them into pony.
I'd be mostly indifferent. I would find it odd, though, as in my personal belief gender dysphoria doesn't exist in ponies, or likely Equestria as a whole.
