Is there a reason that LOTR and MLP isn’t a more popular crossover?
>>43163319bee'cuz LotR is pretty much basic fantasy shit ponies already live in a fantasy world with cooler fantasy shit and magic in itsame reason why elderscrolls isnt a massive crossover thing with poni too

>>43163319Mlp autists are more kin of fiction like videogames or shorter format entertainment, while LOTR autists are more kin of dungeons n' dragons kind of fiction. MLP autists are also very sexual, and LOTR autists probably aren't. Basically, LOTR are high IQ autists, and MLP autists are normal autistis.
>>43163319I think mainly just that there's not much you could do with it crossover-wise. Crossovers tend to thrive on absurdity and/or chaos that ensues from bringing characters from radically different worlds together. With Middle Earth and Equestria, they're both basically fantasy settings with high ideals and magic, so the characters from either world could adapt to either setting pretty easily. I could easily see ponies and hobbits hanging out together and it being comfy, but there's not really enough there to make a story out of. I could see the M6 teaming up with Gandalf and Legolas and whoever to fight a balrog, but it wouldn't be fundamentally all that different from them fighting Tirek or Sombra or some other monster from Equestria.I'm not saying you couldn't make it work, there's just not a ton of room for conflict or chemistry.

The only franchise that is really popular is Fallout and probably because New Vegas came in the same month as MLP
>>43163319This artist drew a really good fel-beast.
>>43163335>LOTR>high IQIt's just a rich English gentleman seething about industry.
>>43163319Because unfortunately, many anons, and a lot of artists won't watch anything but cartoons targeted to babies/young children. (Throwing stones in glass houses, I know.)
>>43163335Doesn't explain Star Trek and Doctor Who crossovers
>>43163332he makes a good point. It's more fun to just negate the magic and throw them into sci fi then to have to reconcile the details of the different magical realms when the magical aspects are so pronounced and distinct.
>>43163589That's more of a recent phenomenon in the fandom.Anons from the 2010's had much more varied inspirations because they were mostly millennials raised in the 90's, so the games they played and shows they watched, both from when they were kids and back when FiM came out, were considerably different.
>>43163319I always thought if I had an MLP fansite, I would have called it "Home of the Horse Lords."
Stuuupid fat ponieses...we hates them!!
>>43165188I could fix Trixie Gollumoon
>>43163319Early, very light lore and fanon of S1 and hiatus between S2 would had permitted that kind of crossover, but the profane direction that the writers took the world and setting kinda closed that window.
