The backgrounds of fim are someting else. I don't think they're appreciated enough. Despite their seemingly simple design they manage to capture so much information. What kind of crack was Faust on when she designed them?

>>43173441It’s unfortunate that the background art got better as the rest of the show got worse. The background art in seasons 8&9 is great. Though a bit less whimsical than the early seasons background art.
>>43173441A lot of them were released here recentlyhttps://seafile.skyros.cloud/d/657895cf23924333bcce/?p=%2FFIM&mode=list
>>43173709The later season backgrounds were more detailed but I feel like some of the abstract elements in the early season backgrounds are part of what makes them so pretty.
>>43173441Dave Dunnet
>>43173709I actually think the later seasons are too "decorated" feeling. S1 and S2 felt felt bare and natural and as is, while the later ones almost feel like they're trying to be pretty and it feels manufactured and not as believable and real, if that makes sense. Still nice and all, just missing most of the snowpity.
I like the music BGM - Pony Degeneracy makes for some of these places like Rarity's boutique.https://youtu.be/jOlsmUgqbrc
>>43173441I think a lot of the background concepts were done by Paul Rudish>>43173773or this guy I guess
>>43173716Cool. What software do I use to open three?
>>43173716Oh fucking sick, why so? Kind of a treasure trove from the sounds of it.
>>43173716Cool
>>43173868>I actually think the later seasons are too "decorated" feelingI also feel that way about them, especially any of the bright ones like the friendship castle or the school. They try to be too detailed in such a simple art style and it looks off. It is also not helped by the visual effects they later used and subtle changes in the color palette, it is as if Hasbro was forcing the show to be like the merch, instead of them making faithful merch based on the show. The art direction got more self-referential and lost many external influences that made what it was. It became less something made by people from Cartoon Network (The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.) and more like something you'd see in a channel for toddlers (Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, Care Bears.)
>>43174250.ai files are made for Adobe Illustrator, but you can open them with GIMP or Inkscape.I have all of the backgrounds converted to PNG too. But uploading them right now would be a bitch.
>>43173716can you upload as a .zip to pone.rs instead of whatever sketchy link that is?
>>43173716I plan to eventually start making a texture pack for doom mapping and i think these might help me a lot so thanks.
