>>43176919Lucky you, anon. One of our neighbors has a bunch of dogs that bark all night, every night. Even in the winter it's hard to appreciate my wife's cosmic beauty!
Since we was talking about the cosmology of Equestria, I thought I'd share my own interpretation on it.Equestria is shielded by a firmament that divides the material world from the immaterial world of magic and magic itself comes in the forms of both light and dark. These two wells of magic exist in the void outside of where Equestria exist and are responsible for every kind of magical phenomena in Equestria. Since they are the power sources of everything, Celestia and Luna are able to directly connect with them when they raise and lower the sun and moon, which they use to restore their youthfulness and maintain the celestial cycle. The sun and moon as they appear when looking at them from Equestria's surface are actually just focal points in the firmament which allows light to pass through and create daytime. When Celestia raises the sun she is maintaining the gateway rather than moving the source of light itself.Luna is different because she is tied to darkness and the nature of darkness in Equestria's universe is to draw in the light and maintain an equal balance between the two opposing forces. Since the firmament around Equestria divides absolute light from absolute darkness the magnetic forces of darkness pull light around the firmament towards itself which creates a shadow. When Luna creates the second gateway, the light that is being gradually being absorbed by the darkness manifests as the moon and the reason why the moon has phases is because Luna punches additional holes in the firmament creating the stars at the expense of dimming the moon. The reason she does this is because the amount of light and dark energy is finite and she must allow for light to convert to darkness since both she and Celestia depend on the balance and on that note, darkness does travel like light does around the firmament allowing it to be reabsorbed into the source of light but there is no need for Celestia to create a cover of darkness over the source of light since darkness cannot be seen and so the darkness is absorbed on the far side of the source of light relative to Equestria.Maybe it makes sense but curious to know what you guys think.

>>43177901what starships do they operate?
>>43179509didn't mean to post this twice, ever since yesterday 4chin has been acting up on me
>>43177901>the reason why the moon has phases is because Luna punches additional holes in the firmament creating the stars at the expense of dimming the moon.I could buy this, but maybe Luna also does it because she just wants ponies to see something interesting a night; basicalky adding her own artistic flare? For example, maybe she just really likes the crescent shape, so she chooses that method of phased dimming. Also, what about different colored stars?>The sun and moon as they appear when looking at them from Equestria's surface are actually just focal points in the firmamentSo, is the firmament where this energy is a sphere enclosing another sphere (the inner one being where Equestria is physically located)? Or, is the topology of their universe ellipsoidal, given that there are two focal points in opposition to each other?>the magnetic forces of darknessIf darkness is associated with magnetic fields, would light be predominantly electric? That would make light unlike in our universe where light is a combination of both. Perhaps in Equestria, Maxwell's equations are fully symmetrical.>Light and dark are responsible for magic in Equestri. If light and darkness are responsible for magic in Equestria, how does that work? Are their flows of light and dark from the firmament to Equestria?
>>43179495even if she was a spider?

>>43179831
>>43179831Nice. I have no idea about the process you use, but the end result looks cool, especially the way the shirt turned out is very impressive.
>>43179500There would be no need for starships since Equestria is their entire physical world. Other universes can exist alongside in parallel but you would use magic to travel there instead.>>43180120>she does it because she just wants ponies to see something interesting at nightThat's possible as well, since the moon is just a window from the outside. It's just as far as I know the moon has never been depicted as anything but whole. Even in the initial season 1 storybook the moon is a full sphere with a shadow cast over it creating the crescent shape.>what about different colored stars? The holes in the firmament can go all the way through the barrier which would make the star appear white or the firmament itself can be sculpted into a lens to absorb specific wavelengths of of the light spectrum like a prism. giving her control over what colour they are.>So, is the firmament where this energy is a sphere enclosing another sphereYes there is a second outer barrier which keeps light and darkness contained the firmament in this context refers specifically to the barrier that protects physical Equestria but there is a second much larger barrier that keeps light and darkness contained to a finite area. It could be ellipsoidal with light and darkness at either end or the sources of both could exist somewhere in the middle between the edge an Equestria. This outer boundary works like a mirror allowing the both light and darkness to eventually return to the other.>If darkness is associated with magnetic fields, would light be predominantly electricBoth light and darkness are abstract energy, magic in its purest forms if you will and like all energy it cannot be destroyed, only transferred into different states of being. Both forces attract the other by nature of being it's opposite I just used magnetic to make it easier to explain but since they are magic with the right spell that energy could be given magnetic qualities or any other magical spell though they would eventually return to their natural state.>Are their flows of light and dark from the firmament to Equestria?Yes, the sun and the moon (and the stars) act as openings allowing them to pass through the firmament and to Equestria. There is light and darkness in everything, with living things have a variation on the amount of light and darkness within themselves. The reason ponies look very friendly and cutesy is because they are naturally attuned and usually born with light magic inside them which affects their appearance. Creatures that have a lot of darkness inside them, tend to look more vicious and menacing which led to the belief that light and darkness are allegories for good and evil which is just a misconception. Luna's 'true' form is Nightmare Moon, pure darkness to Celestia's light. The only trouble is because light and darkness are opposites, they can create conflict and so she chooses her current form which is 'shadow', darkness that can only exist because of light.
>>43179500I always figured they'd genegineer something like a Megalomoth because normal spaceships are boring and uncreative. Medieval societies lacking the technology but being abundant in the magic tend to do something like that, at least the cool ones.

Thanks for your patience with my writer's block as I finally get around to completing Moonlight Veiled. Picking up after the events of Chapter 11, as Luna and Anonymous continue their moonlit journey out of Canterlot. (https://ponepaste.org/11561)~~~~“We should rest here, Luna.”>You gesture to a small clearing near the path, nestled between the boughs of an old and hoary oak tree and the elbow of a babbling stream. >Your journey since leaving the Shady Thistles had taken you far over the pleasant countryside of eastern Equestria. >Rolling farmland and pastures, country roads and copses of woodland tucked in the spurs of the northern range of mountains had been your companions for many long hours of journey over the moonlit expanse of Luna’s realm.>The land was sparsely populated, but the rural ponyfolk were invariably welcoming and kind. >Many nights had been spent in the guestrooms of farm estates, small cottages and cabins across the expanse of Equestria’s hinterland.>Many more nights had been spent under the open sky. >The kindness of the early summer weather had held through Luna’s night, warm and breezy through much of what would have been the daylight hours, and refreshingly cool during the ‘night.’>Of course, over the weeks, the diurnal cycle had become ever more of an abstraction, with the differentiation between day and night an academic practice of habit more than a reflection of reality. >On those nights spent under the stars, with the great orb of Luna’s celestial body illuminating the landscape in a hundred pastel shades of silver, the two of you had spent many long hours in conversation. >She spoke freely about her past, more now than she ever had with you in Canterlot. >She recounted long stories of her youth with Celestia, of pranks and petty rivalries, competition and jealousy, arguments and resentment. >Always, there was a throughline throughout her recollections – that she missed Celestia dearly, that she loved her more than she had ever known or fully admitted to either herself or her sister. >She recalled her kindness, her generosity, her endless capacity for compassion. >Where in your earlier conversations with Luna the memory of her sister had seemed a burden about her, now they seemed a source of peace and comfort. >Here, in the shoulder of a gently rolling river, lit by the light of the last moonrise she would ever command, she was at peace with herself, her past, and her future.
>>43200849>She stops to listen to the sound of the brook for a moment, eyes closed, the wind gently stirring her mane as she considers your suggestion.>”Would you describe where we are, Anonymous? The journey is long, and I’m afraid I’ve quite lost track of our whereabouts.”>As the journey had carried on, Luna had seemed less and less concerned about exactly where you were and where you were headed, content to bask in the glow of her moonlight as she passed over the land she loved.>You describe in broad detail the last few day’s journey to her, giving the name of the last township you’d passed and the terrain you had walked, the mountain’s arms and names of rivers crossed, and how far you thought you were from the coast. >Though you were no great navigator, you were confident that you were perhaps a week or so away from the stony shores of the great Eastern Sea. >Luna peers around her through her clouded eyes as you talk, taking in the turn of the river and shape of the trees boughs above her. >You finish, and she smiles warmly.>”Excellent, I believe I know where we are. Humour me, Anonymous, for I believe I know of a better spot for us to shelter for a while.”“You aren’t too tired?”>With deliberate, careful slowness, Luna stretches out her limbs as she walks towards you, rolling some of the stiffness out of her frame with care. >”Not at all, I have the energy for another short walk. Trust me, it’s not far.”
>>43200856>The road you had been following had been taking a meandering path eastward, cutting over streams and through woods in a gentle traverse towards the sea. >You had recommended the rest stop just off the trail, within sight of the road and just before a small trestled bridge over the stream. >At Luna’s bidding you follow her off the beaten path, heading in a generally southward direction, following the inviting sound of the stream’s path further into the woods. >You had no fear of danger as you followed her into the unknown – for all the problems that plagued Equestria in its latter years, its heartland was still an agrarian paradise by your standards, ruled by peace and untroubled by the peril of creatures or banditry.>The walk is strangely reminiscent of some of the strolls you had taken together through Luna’s moonlight garden in Canterlot Castle. >Though not populated by such a bewildering and exotic array of flora, the foliage here gives the impression of a carefully manicured garden-forest.>Fireflies flit between flowering bushes, the blooms of early summer’s verdantry seemingly untroubled by the lack of sun. >Perhaps by some magical property of Luna’s moon, life continues to grow in abundance even in the dim glow of the night sky. >The path – if you can call it that – takes you along the shore of the river as it bends around roots, craggy rocks and gentle curves. >Fish play between the stones, and the night air is punctuated by the gentle trilling of birdsong and the music of frogs and crickets hidden in the boughs of bushes along the shore. >Luna steps forward confidently as you stay close by her side, navigating the rocks and roots with ease as you forge a path towards an unknown destination. >Suddenly, your route takes you up a sharp rise in the terrain, a sort of natural burm crowned with venerable trees blocking your view ahead. >With some minimal struggle you crest the rise together, and take a moment to survey the view laid out before you.
>>43200860>The treeline you and Luna emerge from mark the edge of a small meadow, a field of wild grass swaying in the night breeze. >Bushes of lavender and wildflowers break up the verdant expanse, their scent playing on the breeze as the wind stirs up their gentle fragrance. >The stream you had been following before the burm circles around the edge of the meadow before running through its middle, undulating lazily through the brush. >It flows to meet a tree in the meadow’s centre, looking almost as if it was planted deliberately, lonely in the midst of grass and flower and cradled water’s arms.>Beneath that tree, partially subsumed by its trunk, a crumbled rectangle of stone lays strewn by the riverbed. >It must have once been a small cottage or shed, its timbers long since rotted away and its stones tumbled by the long years of nature’s reclamation.>Luna stands beside you, wordless, surveying the meadow and breathing deep of the lavender scent carried to her on the night air.>She turns to you with a smile before beckoning you onwards, descending down the crest and into the rolling green field of the meadow. >You follow, your shared pace slowed considerably as you let yourself relax at her side, the weariness of the long day’s travel evaporating from your limbs as its replaced by the comforting prospect of a restful sleep under the light of the moon. >Without speaking, you follow her to the ruins at the centre of the meadow, finally dropping your bags against the cold grey stones as she trots contemplatively around their perimeter. >”It’s a little worse for wear than when I’d been here last, but I’m glad I remembered the spot at least.”>Luna’s voice is low and thoughtful, speaking as she walks, occasionally stopping to kick at a tumbled stone or peer at an old piece of worked, rotted wood. “What is this place?”>”An old summer home from the days of my youth. I found it by chance on an evening flight many, many moons ago. I’d return occasionally in the years since, to tend to the lavender and have a place of peace and solace far from Canterlot.”>She breathes deeply, taking in the floral scents on the air, smiling while drifting through the recollection of memory.>”I had almost forgotten about this place, and would likely have never been here again were it not for our little trip, Anonymous.”“Our good fortune that my plans took us near here, then.”>”Providence, my love. We should rest here for a while – I think the remaining leg of our holiday may be the hardest, and I’ll want what’s left of my strength fully recovered for the journey.”~~~That's all for today's update, I'll return soon to continue on with this chapter. Hope you're all having a nice weekend, /moon/frens

>>43201252i came to the conclusion a while ago that tabletop games made into video games are just... shit. they're dice-rolling simulators for 'meh' storylines and there's not really a whole lot of 'skill' that goes into them, and because of that if you roll like shit then you're fucked through no fault of your own because there's no GM there to throw you a bone and fudge things even a little to keep things fun and interestingi remember playing pathfinder kingmaker and in one fight i watched one of my companions roll a nat 1 three times in a row before getting crit oneshot herself. if that's not a sign to uninstall and hide the game so i'm never tempted to play it again i don't know what is

>>43202127Thank you, Tiny Luna. I believe in you too.
>>43202199I love my tiny wife!
>>43201380XCOM is explicitly a risk management game, you should always take into account that a 95% shot is not a 100% and not just make risky plays assuming it will hit, and generally position yourself so that if you miss everything on a turn and all your overwatchs too you don't just get wiped immediately. Obviously sometimes you have to take risks but part of the strategy is planning for failure, which includes having backup squads if you really get fucked and a mission results in a wipe after a whole run of terrible luck (or your own mistakes). But I agree about shit like BG and Pathfinder. Those game systems were originally designed to be ran with a human GM, not to optimise dice roll risk and plan for every roll failure.Or at least with a human GM if you roll only 1s and then get crit in return, the GM will narrate some epic story out of it and maybe adjust the campaign on the fly to rescue your guy, or some shit, and then it will become part of the character's history or at least a story told around the table. In a video game it's just a death and deal with it.

Last night I dreamed I was drawing pictures of Luna while waiting for the trolley in a steam punk city.
>>43204108Last night, Luna blessed me with dreams of non-euclidean architecture. It seemed like it was some sort of convention center this time. The place was huge, and had a hotel kinda feel. There were many areas for recreation in this "hotel" that spanned miles. Maybe I'm just excited for Marefair.
>>43204152Was it elliptic or hyperbolic?
>>43204191Hyperbolic. It was as if whenever I transitioned between spaces within the hotel, things would be squashed and stretched, then appear to arrive as normal. It reminded me of a vsauce video where he played a simulation of what near light-speed travel would look like. Sometimes this happens with different buildings, but it tends to be a bit of a recurring dream. This time it was a hotel, it's been a mansion, sometimes its a school.

Theory: During normal business and state functions in and around the Canterlot Court, Luna is a sticker for formality. This is because she feels awkward in social interactions. Hence the formal rules that govern interactions at the Royal court give her a fixed, known archeticture on which to rely when interacting with others. Very little is left to guesswork, so she does not feel awkward. Also, her lack of social grace (as compared to Celestia) in larger groups does not, under those rules, result in her inadvertently doing something embarrassing. What do you moonfrens think of my theory?
>>43210502Awesome theory, Anon! Saving that one for the headcanon bank
Anyone who wants to write a green starring Luna needs to have the proper usage of Elizabethan beat into them to prevent them from disgracing my wife!
>>43210577>adding up all the soft nose kisses you owe her
>>43210607>you have to owe Luna kisses every time she lets you do something stupid with her
>>43200872I'm not caught up with the rest of this green, I decided to just dip in here. You're very good at descriptive writing. Especially for a night scene; it's hard to make a written scene actually feel like it takes place at night imo but you managed to do it. I love all the detailed pictures of nature that are painted here, the lavender, the stream, hearing the fish, seeing the fireflies and the ruined house; it all somehow seems better in Equestria than it is here on Earth, you know. And who better to walk in it with at night than Princess Luna.

I want to preen Luna's wings for her!
Morning moon boop
Tonight is the Flower Moon, frens! What are (You) doing with your moonwife tonight?
>>43212616I will plant moon flower seeds and try to cultivate them into healthy and happy flowering plants. I'll also plant some lavender seeds for good measure. If I do everything right I will be able to have a garden bed of white and purple flowers forbLuna to gaze upon. Will Luna accept my offering, do you think?
>>43212853>Will Luna accept my offeringHell yeah she will!
New Askloona post! https://twibooru.org/3763602?q=loony+lunaFeaturing what I assume is a drawing of the stars coming to aid in her escape and a starmap.
>>43212616A nice dinner, psychedelics, a bath with rose petals, and jamming to music. We will be writing and making preparations for a long road trip next week!
>>43195196I also finished the matching ring for myself to accompany the one that I made for Moonwife last week!

Night time road trips with Moonwife!

Jannies ban these frogniggers indefinitely before they slide my wife's threads off the board!
>>43218956Graviation as a function of space-time is really just a result of Luna's mane fluttering in the wind.
Good morning bumb.
Anti-frognigger bump.

Good morning, nocturnAnons

>>43221339A thicc horn for a thicc neck!
The best part of having Luna as a gf is that you both can snuggle and cuddle and snooze and her Dreamtime magic allows you both to still experience and enjoy activities together!
>>43221406They say if you snooze in your dreams you snooze in real life.
>>43221412Snoozing is of no concern, it is the waking up that is dangerous.
The wage cage loosens its grip
>>43221345>largeIndeed.

>>43223028How did Luna come to be? My thought is that the god and goddess ponies created her out of the constellations and she just sort of walked out of the sky on to Equestria.
>>43223317>How did Luna come to be?I came up with an idea for a green last year where Luna, morphed into being by Faust, crashed onto Equus like a meteor only to cause a religious revolt in one of Celestia's first kingdoms since she'd built a cult of personality up around herself.
>>43223380I meant to add that Luna would've been a fucking baby and the revolt occurs because Celestia made herself out to be the only alicorn, even if she herself was just a filly.
I just found out there are craters at the poles of the moon that experience eternal night
Can we get some images of Luna smiling at the viewer?
>>43223612I've got you, /moon/bro.
>>43223612
>>43223317My headcanon is that she was divinely created by Faust herself (true IRL too), but maybe she and Celestia were born from clouds of gas that condensed in space as Equestria was forming.
>>43223317I don't like there being extra god-ponies above the Princesses, most of the time.
I went out with my wife yesterday
