So what was the reasoning from the show writers that they justified making Scootaloo a disabled pegasus? I need some justice for this cute filly.

Fanfiction writers loved turning her into a homeless orphan version of Tiny Tim from A Christmas Carol for sating their misery/pity fetishes. Headcanons that she had a wing disability were one that happened to stick, but only barely. They never directly address it in the show, otherwise they would have probably added something like >>43179498, because it's a lot more beneficial to a disabled kid to demonstrate acceptance of the tools they'll need than it is to demonstrate simple, easy acceptance of their born limitations... which is what Scootaloo ended up being. The disability was never the point, and her background and life outside the CMC were so neglected that people thought she was a homeless orphan until like the last fucking season of the show.

Just because earth ponies are stronger than normal doesn't mean they can't also be intelligent.The "problem" is that Scootaloo's disability much more visible than Sweebs' or Bloomy's, and by the time more stories could be told about their weaknesses (and also their strengths), all of the disability burden was placed on Scoots.
