Blush Blushing Edition
Previous Thread: >>43024331

>Who is Wallflower Blush?
Wallflower the main antagonist of Forgotten Friendship. She's an introverted and spiteful gardener who holds a grudge against Sunset Shimmer for being so popular despite her past as a bully. Using an Equestrian relic, she can erase other people's memories.

>You've been frozen in front of the door just listening to the girls talk
>You didn't mean to, but when you heard Wallflower talking about the gaps in your memory, you couldn't help but want to know more
>And now you're listening to her saying how she doesn't regret doing it in the first place
>Be Anon
>And be very, very ticked off
>You move to open the door and confront Wallflower about this
>That is to say, you slam it open
>Both of the girls turn to you
>You meet Rose's eyes first
>Though they're filled with anger and frustration, you know her pain is multilayered
>Both by being hurt, lied to, and played with her emotions
>What you heard was hard as is, even without context of what happened
>Rose has to deal with it now
>You stop yourself from even looking in Wallflower's direction
>You can't bring yourself to see her like this
>To you, she was past her faults
>She was to help you, all of you
>But you turn and look into the eyes of the shattered delusion you sold yourself on
>Wallflower looks as though she's falling apart at the seams
>Her eyes wide open in surprise
>Tears gathering around their edges
>Her lips twitching as if she was about to say something to hide behind
>You don't know if it's because of your sudden appearance or if she was already breaking
>But from the sounds of it, she wasn't sounding any regretful
>Something tells you she wasn't expecting you to be on the other side of that door
"And yet, you're not sorry?"
>You take a step inside the room, and let the door close behind you
>Rose stands up to come to your side
> "Anon are you-" She begins, before you both lock eyes
>Whatever look you're giving her, it's enough to speak for you
>Rose stands aside, rubbing her arm as if she had been punched
>She knows the answer is no
>You're not okay
>You feel used
"You told me you didn't meant to use it, right? The first time you erased our memories"
>Wallflower sits perfectly still as you approach her
>You watch as her chest rises and falls faster the closer you get
"Then why, why keep using it? Why keep trying to force yourself into our lives?"
>You stand in front of her
>She has to tilt her head up to keep her eyes locked on yours
"Why sabotage us at the one opportunity we could've had to move on from what you did?"
>A tear falls down her cheek
>Her voice is but a whisper, but with the absolute quiet within the classroom, it sounds as if on an amplifier
> "I was alone"
>>
>>43189877
>You watch as more tears fall along her cheeks
>But she doesn't break eye contact with you
>As if by doing so, you'd just walk away from her forever
"And who's fault is that? Who erased our memories in the first place?"
>Her lip quivers, holding back a sob
>You watch as snot builds up at her nostrils
>Though you feel bad about making her cry
>You need to know
"What could have even made you do that?"
>Wallflower has trouble speaking
>But she forces out one word before she snaps
> "Dad"
>She closes her eyes, finally breaking eye contact
>Letting out a wail as she has a full on meltdown
>She hugs herself as she slams her forehead down on the table
>Letting her tears drip down to the floor
>You turn to look at the framed picture of her and her dad, hanging on the other side of the room
>The only one she displays at all times
>And you remember that's how you got her to open up to you in the first place
>You turn to look at Rose, whose gaze is fixed on the framed photo as well
>You two were close with Wallflower, if something happened to her dad
>Why would she push you away?
>Maybe, just maybe
>That's who she is
>Wallflower's weeps and sobs pull you away from your thoughts
>Though it makes you sick to think of what she did
>You don't want to hurt her
>Even after finding out about this
>You drop to one knee next to her
>And hesitate to do anything else as she cries alone
>You're alone, too
>You place your hand on her shoulder, reminding her of this fact
>Her bawling stops for a second when she registers what you're doing
>Only to resume even louder
>You turn to Rose, her eyes fixed on your hand
>And you can tell she's having an internal struggle by the way her eyes shift from you and back to Wallflower
>You tilt your head Wallflower's way, silently asking Rose if she wants to come closer
>But it doesn't seem like she's ready, preferring to back against the wall as she hugs herself
>You can only nod at her in solidarity
>Maybe if you could split yourself into two, you'd be able to comfort them at the same time
>As is, however, one is crying her heart out
>She may be the reason you're all in this in the first place
>But she's also hurting
>You're all hurting
>And once she's done crying
>You'll remind her of that fact
>>
>>43189882
>Wallflower cried for a good few minutes before she was able to utter another word
>The most she did was thank you when you offered her some tissues to blow her nose
>All that time, Rose didn't move from her spot
>Whenever the two of you would lock eyes, she'd give you a fake smile only to then look away and get lost in her thoughts once again
>You didn't know what to do
>You wanted answers but if you pressured Wallflower now, you doubt she'd do anything but go back to crying
>And you wonder if Rose even wants to be comforted
>Truthfully, you don't know what she's still doing here
>Does she still want anything to do with Wallflower?
>Maybe she's waiting for you to leave, and go back to having a one-on-one
>Or, maybe she's waiting for her friend to finish consoling a lost cause
>Whatever the case, she's still here
>There may be a chance for you three to mend this yet
>It's all up to Wallflower now
>She mentioned her dad, which means that something did happen to him
>But for her to push you away, did you do something to her?
>As the gardener blows her nose again, she tries to speak up
>Her throat coarse from speaking, she struggles to actually say something
>And then
> "He got sick, dad"
>This manages to get Roseluck's attention, and yours as well
>Wallflower coughs and clears her throat, continuing "I never told you guys, but he was hospitalized for a couple months leading to our junior year's Fall Formal"
> "A year ago, then" Rose interrupts her, finally taking a couple steps closer to the two of you
>Wallflower nods at this, brushing her messy hair off her face so you can properly look at her
> "He couldn't take care of the school grounds or the garden in his condition, so I swore I'd help maintain them while he got better"
>Her eyes shift from you to Rose, a meek little smile growing on her face "You two helped me so much, but I didn't want you to worry, so I didn't told you he was sick in the first place"
> "And in the end, he just.."
>Wallflower doesn't finish her sentence, falling into silence as a couple more tears roll down her cheeks
>Rose stands next to you, watching Wallflower sob
>You can see Rose's expression has softened a lot, and you see her hesitate to take another step forward
>But she doesn't, putting a hand on your shoulder for support as Wallflower blows her nose one more time
> "Principal Celestia must've told you guys about it, because by midnight, all of you were waiting for me back home"
>Her bloodshot eyes lock onto yours, "I know she was just trying to help, but I just didn't want to talk about it, I didn't want you guys to see me like this"
> "I ran" Wallflower says between sobs, wiping a few tears away "I.. I told you guys I didn't want to see you anymore"
>She reaches out for your hand, and you hold hers
>She's shaking
>>
>>43189885
> "I broke up with you, Anon. I don't know why. I just wanted to throw myself into the void, and stay there"
>You don't know how to feel about this
>You just place your other hand on top of hers
> "I just kept running. I didn't had anywhere in mind, I just ran and ran until I was out of breath"
>Wallflower looks out the windows, and stares at the garden far off
> "I ended up at CHS, and I was so mad that it didn't matter how much I cared for these flowers. Dad wouldn't be here to see any of it"
>She dries the rest of her tears and takes a couple of deep breaths before continuing
>The way she's looking at you, it's eerily similar to the way she looked a couple days ago
>Shifty eyes, gauging your emotions, like a cat ready to bolt
> "I went through the garden, ripping off flowers left and right. I was so done"
> "I should've stopped there, but I kept going until I got to the center. And then, I felt something dragging me to that stone ornament"
>Wallflower slumps over in her chair, holding her head in her hands as she sighs
> "That stone, it did something, and I swear I felt my heart splitting. It was like all the pain I was feeling just got.. multiplied"
>And that's how your memories went
>In a fit of blind rage and some presumably magical rock
>You've kept your blank expression through all of her explanation
>But this makes you stand up and reconsider things
"So then, you really didn't meant to do it? It just happened?"
>Wallflower nods and grabs your arm as you get up
>Her grip is tight, she must be desperate "I promise, Anon. I just, I wanted to be alone for a while, and it happened"
>You hear from behind you, Rose muttering under her breath "Well, you got it" as she turns around to look out the window
>And yet
"You used it again, didn't you? And not just to try to befriend us again"
>At this, Wallflower's hand limps while still holding onto you
> "I, yes, I used it for my benefit"
> "When things got awkward, when you'd think I was creepy, when Rose and Daisy and Lily thought I was following them"
"When me and Rose became friends?"
>Wallflower whimpers and falls to her knees in front of you
>Her weak body hanging from the grip she has on you
> "I didn't want to be alone for so long. I didn't thought you two would became so close even without me"
> "Please, Anon, I miss you guys so much"
>There's no more tears flowing down her cheeks, though you can see the regret on her face
>Still, you can't help but feel used
>And Rose
>You don't want to assume how she feels, but she hasn't said anything to Wallflower in a while
>Yet no matter how much she pleads
>You haven't heard an apology from her
"I don't think you've realized it yet, Wallflower"
>Her body stiffens at your words
>You don't know if it's right for you to give her hope
>Or if you want to offer her a second chance
>So instead, you'll do the same thing she just did
>And explain your piece
>>
>>43189887
"I'm not who you used to know, I don't know if I can be"
>Out of the corner of your eye, you see Roseluck turning her head to hear you better
"What we had, and what you took from us. It's all gone, and whether you regret doing it or not, it's your fault"
"I'm alone too, Wallflower"
>Wallflower tilts her head up to look you in the eyes
>You can't read her expression
>But you know she's listening to you
"I wanted a friend, I still do. But I want that friend to be real, and for that to happen, you need to think about what we want"
"And, I want to know if you're even considering using that stone again."
>Wallflower thinks for a bit, her eyes shift from you to Rose
>You see the two of them looking at each other, before Rose turns away and goes back to gazing into nothingness
> "I don't, I meant when I said I was done using it, I don't want to hurt you guys any more"
>That's a start, at least
>You hold her arm, and support her
>Wallflower shakes a bit, but eventually begins standing up on her own
>Her head barely reaches your shoulders, so you get a pretty good look at her hair up-close
>Good lord it looks brittle
>And you don't even know that much about hair
>She still has to tilt her head up to look at you
>You see the dried tears and boogers on her face
>This girl needs a shower, a warm blanket, and a hug
>She steps back and crosses her arms, guarding herself as she sighs and looks down at her shoes in shame
> "I messed up, didn't I?"
>You hold back any sarcasm you have at the moment, and just nod your head
>She looks past you, focusing on Rose
>Whom can definitely feel the two of you looking at her, though she pretends not to
>You put a hand on Wallflower's shoulder
"What do you see in her, Wallflower?"
>Rose stands upright at your words
>Wallflower, however, just looks at a loss for words
"Who is her, to you?"
>Rose remains turned away from you, though you can see her hugging herself, as if bracing for what she's about to hear
>Wallflower's words die in her throat, it's apparent to you that she doesn't want to say the wrong thing now more than ever
> "She is, she.."
>>
>>43189892
>Wallflower clears her throat and continues "She was always there, for me"
> "When we first met, her family had just moved in to Canterlot, and I was surprised the new girl took an interest in me, the shy girl who blended into the background"
> "And she just, never left my side."
>A small smile grows in Wallflower's lips, in contrast to her freshly dried tears
> "I was never alone with you, and I miss that so much, I miss how you lit up my day whenever we'd talk"
>Wallflower begins walking towards Roseluck, who remains adamant in not looking at her through her monologue
> "I, I remember how strict your dad could be. And how you told me how he was so different when I was with you, much more relaxed"
>Wallflower comes at a stop within arm's length of Rose
>She looks terrified of taking another step
> "I can't imagine how you must remember that, without me there."
> "You were alone, weren't you, Rose?"
>The redhead turns around, and you can see she's trying her best to hold back tears
> "I just, why won't you just apologize already, Wally?"
>Wallflower takes a step back at this, and seems like she's about to turn to leave
>Instead, it's Rose who makes her way to the door, leaving her schoolbag behind
> "I'm sorry!" Wallflower yells out, just as Rose reaches for the handle
> "I, I know it was wrong. I'm sorry I was jealous, I'm sorry I took advantage of the stone, I'm sorry I.. I'm sorry I destroyed your friendship"
>Rose turns to face Wallflower
>You can see Rose's exasperation plainly written on her face
> "You're not really sorry" Rose leans against the wall as she lets out some tears
> "You just don't want to be alone anymore"
>Rose hugs herself as she slides down onto the floor
> "And neither do I, but I,"
> "I just don't know if I can forgive you, Wally" Rose hides her face in her knees as she sobs
>Wallflower stands there, watching her former best friend crying
>You're about to begin brainstorming what you should do now
>If you'll be forced to pick between the two of them
>But it seems like you're giving too little credit to the gardener
>Wallflower slowly approaches Rose, and kneels down in front of her
> "That's okay" comes from her green lips, soft as she can possibly sound
> "Please, I just want to try again. Hate me if you want, but please"
>Rose looks up, and the two of them lock eyes
>You can see the fear in Roseluck's eyes, wondering if it'll be different this time, if there's anything else that could hurt even more
>She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and hides her face behind her knees once more
> "Just, give me until after school. Okay? Please"
>Wallflower stays there, though you can't see her face, you can feel the sad, forced smile with which she replies
> "I'll wait for your answer, then"

Really great update anon
I came in late to your story but the note that Wallflower's dad was the school gardener I thought was a cool detail, explains her interest in it. The reveal he passed away and was the impetus for Wallflower erasing Rose/Anon's memory out of a raw, emotional desire to be alone hit hard, I can relate to being so angry/upset that you just don't want people right now but with the Memory Stone it took things too far beyond her control. I also like the raw emotion from Anon/Rose, who might have forgiven her for just that but that she KEPT using it afterwards to manipulate things to the way she wants, it's a messy situation where Wallflower is pretty much all at fault but there's a lot of emotional instability. I think it's fair they haven't forgiven her, and it's not certain they will, but I do like them being her there in this moment at least for her because when you're at your lowest point like that sometimes the companionship alone is enough. Did well with her breakdown, will look forward to more

Sometimes I forget it's been almost 10 years and people forget that MLP writers not only lurked the boards, but they also participated and even had AMAs here.

Yes, Wallflower Blush is 100% based on Anon, with a design being a redesigned Vivian James adapted into the EqG artstyle and based around a plant design as a "Wallflower", which, for those in the third world with no knowledge of common culture, is a type of person who blends into the background and isn't noticed by anyone.

>Wallflower takes a step back but no more, as if waiting for Rose to tell her to stop
>But when it's obvious she won't, Wallflower backs off and goes back to your side
>She's still shaking, probably was through all that just now
>You can tell this is taking its toll on her as she awkwardly walks past you, and sits back on her chair without another word
>Part of you wants to extend the same kindness to her you did a mere two days ago
>But your heart still aches knowing that she doesn't truly regret her actions
>To make matters worse, the school bell rings signaling the beginning of classes
>You look at the curled up Rose, and notice she doesn't intend on moving
>Turning to Wallflower, you see she's looking up at you with concern on her eyes
>Doubtless she wants you to help, to somehow make things better
>But this is her mistake to solve
>You place your hand on her shoulder and give her a fake smile
>She doesn't bother forcing one, only nodding as she remains sat down
>It may be for the best if she doesn't come with today
>With that, you turn around and approach the bundled up Rose
>You grab her schoolbag and gently set it next to her
>With this, Rose looks up at you and you can see her eyes dart to Wallflower on her seat
>Only to fix onto yours again, and with a sigh she extends her hand up to you, asking for your support
>You help Rose get back on her feet and walk to the door leading inside CHS
>With the redhead following behind you
>You give Wallflower one more look full of pity
>She hasn't moved, she looks catatonic
>Her eyes fixated on the both of you
>Rose scurries past you and out of the room
>You step out, closing the door behind you without looking back
>>

>You don't feel like going to class
>In fact you don't feel like doing anything at all
>Leaning against some lockers, you let yourself catch your breath
>You've been holding it ever since you stepped inside the gardening club
>Rose's tender touch keeps you grounded on reality just for a moment before you descend on your downward spiral
>It starts with her hand on your shoulder, before she wraps her arms around you for a hug
>Which you return halfheartedly
>You're not sure of how you should feel
>You want to give Wallflower yet another chance
>But is that what you want, or is it because you have no other option?
>No memory of any friends, no notable achievements or dreams
>No ambitions or any drive to be
>You've just been drifting through highschool, it's all you remember
>She took all of that from you, even if she didn't mean to
>Confronting this, confronting her...
>What are you
>Just an empty husk, malleable and emotionless
>A plaything for her to use, over and over
>As long as she has that stone, you'll never feel safe
>You're hers
>And that terrifies you
>Rose's out-of-breath cough brings you back to reality
>You're squeezing the air out of her lungs
>You let her go, and she parts from the hug to breathe properly
>Giving you a weak punch to the arm and leaning on the lockers next to you
> "You're not handling it that well either, are you?"
>Rose's voice taking on that slightly high-pitch tone tells you that even if she's grieving, keeping up appearances comes first for her
"I guess not. Just want this day to be over already"
>What other alumni are still around are hurrying to their next classes
>You strongly consider skipping class
>It really wouldn't make that much of a difference now, given how you're pretty much doomed
>But as you consider asking Rose to join you
>She takes your hand and drags you with her
> "It'll be over when it's over, for now, let's worry about making it to class. Alright, Anon?"
>This time, you can hear a bit of that tone she used on the park
>You don't feel like arguing
>You don't feel like doing anything at all
>But you follow her, until the fork in the hallway where you separate
>She waves you off with a worried expression
>And you watch her disappear around a corner
>Breath in
>Breath out
>Time will pass either way, so you might as well try

>Your eyes have been glued to that door since Rose and Anon walked out
>You can't tell if you're breathing, you don't care anymore
>What have you done, Wallflower
>Anon was going to ask this eventually, the why's and how's
>But you weren't ready to do it then
>Not right when you were yelling at-
>Oh, Rose
>What have you done?!
>Your hands grip your hair as you finally regain control of your body
>Your heart beating in your throat
>What did you told her, how could you tell her that
>That.. that cheater!
>She hid Anon while you talked
>She wanted him to overhear so she could have him all for herself
>Again
>No, what? No that's not possible
>They met yesterday, they couldn't have already bonded the same way they did months ago
>Right?
>No, no you stole his memories
>He probably just overheard the worst
>But Rose
>She wanted to be with someone she cared about
>And you took that from her again
>The image of the two of them holding hands flashes across your mind
>You pull at your fragile hair, hoping the self-induced pain can ease your heavy heart
>You fall off the chair in your struggle
>It happened again
>You tried, but this time it wasn't like other times
>This time, they found you
>So then.. you just have to set things up so they find you again
>You feel something calling out for you
>Yes, you can just try again
>You've done it dozens of times
>What's one more time
>You begin standing up, and slowly make your way outside
>You walk past the winter foliage you three spent yesterday setting down
>And make it to the center of the garden
>It's just where you left it
>The memory stone sits as the centerpiece of the arrangement you and your dad helped maintain
>You feel yourself drawn to it
>You watch the markings on the stone glowing brighter as you approach
>And you try to think of how it works
>What it's done for you and what it can yet do
>The air is still around you
>Your heart is filled with such a clarity
>A smile grows on your lips as you reach for the stone
>They found you so quickly by themselves
>What would happen if you would be able to set things up yourself?
>They'd be your dear, loyal companions once again
>You'd get to be his sweetheart again
>But...
>Is that what he would want?
>You stop in your tracks, your hand mere inches away from the memory stone
>To do this, all over again
>The tears, the fake hope, the isolation
>Purposefully hurting them again, for what
>To steal another month of their lives?
>You take a step back, and the memory stone dims as your doubt sets in
>You lower your hand, and you just stare at the rock
>It's dimly lit pattern seemingly matching the rate at which your heart beats
>Quickened, erratic
>You feel as though it's about to burst out of your chest
>>
>>43205537
>What were you about to do
>You were gonna hurt them again
>Run away, and pretend to be as scared as they are
>Silently bottling every little thing, until you felt like abusing your power again
>Hiding away in your house of broken memories
>You were gonna throw yourself back into that void
>The same way that all of this started in the first place
>Coward
>That's all you are
>They just wanted to know what happened to them
>You fall to your knees
>And lay on the grass as you truly don't know what to do now
>You told yourself you were done using it
>You promised to him
>Just let them have their life
>You don't have to be part of it
>All you've done so far is making it worse
>You lay on the grass, hoping that one of them will just come by
>Maybe stare at you and leave, maybe lend you their hand
>But Anon probably never wants to entertain the idea of being around you again
>And the things you told her
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Rose"

>Did you really meant all that
>Do you really not regret this, after all you've done to fix everything?
>You were jealous
>But, of who?
>You wanted his attention, his love, to do everything and nothing with him
>You hated Rose for stealing him away from you
>But the way she looked at him
>Like he was the only person she had ever connected with
>You wanted both
>You egotistical jerkwad
>Is this why it never felt enough?
>Why even when something went right, you would inevitably push them away
>And try again another day
>You flip to your side, the imposing stone ornament towering over you, begging you to use it
>To take the pain away
>But it didn't work the first time
>Nor the dozens of times you've used it since then
>All it's done is make things more complicated
>The more you used it, the more you retreated into this..
>This void, of your own making
>It's not their fault for wanting to find a real connection
>You took it away from them, and whenever you'd make progress, you'd reset everything because it wasn't as exactly as it was before
>You struggle to pick yourself up from the ground
>Your legs too shaky to properly carry you
>Crawling away from the garden's centerpiece, you eventually stand up and make your way back into the gardening club
>You recall how painful it's all been
>Not just being alone
>Every time you used the stone, you felt your heart being pulled apart
>Your every doubt and fear amplified
>You feel a shiver run down your spine as you lean against the door
>You're so scared
>Can't even escape your problems anymore
>You look at yourself in the window's reflection
>You're not who you used to be
>Their friend, his better half, her refuge
>You're an abuser
>The most pathetic attempt at a master manipulator there ever has been
>You're Wallflower Blush
>And you've dug your own grave

I'm now realizing that the way I'm writing this, these guys have spent more time depressed than happy. Maybe I'll try to change that. Anyways, enjoy
