While I've known of the existence of /mlp/ since 2015, I only started going there a couple of years ago. While I can't talk from personal experience, just comparing some of old thread shows a great contrast between the early 2010's and now. You can tell the vast majority of current users are quite new (myself included)

>>43195038the community is still there and theres nothing that is like mlp. its not really just a random dead specific show but rather a cultural phenomenon that people still want to see and engage with as if it was still running. i literally just saw some high quality show style animations the other day with cool designs. people just think its cool and looks great. fim pony designs are just so good that they stay around. if the community didnt exist id probably have a hard time still being so into it. its not even really buried yet though. hasbro had pilots and ideas to bring back the fim cast so it wouldnt surprise me if we see them again soon. even if we never saw them again the mlp brand itself keeps existing and there will be a new gen. the next gen could literally look very fim or have the old characters so you cant really say its like holding onto something thats gone. the current question is.. will we see them again next gen or does the next gen look more like fim. g5 was shit but even that connected to the g4 universe so it was a little new content for g4.when it comes to why i like it i think it looks cute and the fantasy stuff is cool. i rarely like something a lot and i just like mlp a lot. its also good to have something nice compared to the horrors of irl but isnt that just all media.
