Flim and Flam did nothing wrong.

>>43197022They're fucking boneheads first and foremost. I'd say that's doing something wrong.

>Tries to start an industrial revolution>Fails>Becomes full time scammers>???>Profit(kind of)
Honestly their major flaw in their first appearance was their greed. The machine they built WORKED. It didn't half work, it wasn't a flat out scam like any later scheme, it was a genuine product that did its job and did it well. The only issue with the machine was when they turned off its safety functions to ramp up production speed. If they had offered a more fair deal in selling the SCS6000 everyone would have been happy. Then the show just turned them into flat out scam artists, they no longer could build a working product they just decided that these two would be the Dr. Nick or Lionel Hutz of MLP. Even when they get a win in owning a casino (basically a legal way of scamming people and they like it) they still get flanderized into con artists. It's the same with Iron Will, his first appearance has him sell a legitimate product and even give a refund when Flutterbutt says she isn't happy with it. But then they bring him back and suddenly he's a scammer because apparently he's an antagonist? I love this show but they really have a problem with a lot of their secondary villains.
>>43197172To not be a gay stickhead, duh. Unicorns are pretty much useless when they're not expert magicians or tailors
>>43197178Shut up you... you... DOUBLE ZIGGER
>>43197188>If they had offered a more fair deal in selling the SCS6000 everyone would have been happy.I mean, maybe you could claim that if the Apples had tried to negotiate a better deal and Flim and Flam rejected it, but they didn't. Also the brothers didn't just offer the machine but also all the work needed, which, considering how prior to that episode the Apples would complain about the physical labour they were putting into the farm, would have been a big plus.
If I was gonna rewrite the episode I would've had it so they won and took over the farm, then a couple weeks later the Apples visit the farm and it's completely fallen apart because Flim and Flam never realized how much work there is in running a farm, they were purely concerned with picking apples more efficiently. They give the farm back and declare they're going to find an industry that doesn't have all this hard, miserable work, fleeing into the sunset.
>>43198003Don't forget ponies refusing to do service with them because of their realizing. They prioritized money instead of quality goods.
>>43197991The main issue was more their initial offer of 70/30 going their way, which is a pretty damn ludicrous highball offer. But yes they were being pretty damn generous by offering the magic to supply the machine for free as well. Being able to match the Apples with it honestly shows the machine WOULD have replaced them and turned a much better profit for all involved. Cider shortages would be a thing of the past, the season would be far less taxing on the apples as well physically. It's probably why they switched them to just con artists later, because even with their greed they'd have been millionaires pretty fast after selling the device to at least two different orchards.
