The only exception is the retirment arc and the finale. An episode of Celestia doing her normal daily routine, and Luna working as well. Perhaps something could happen, resulting in Celestia having to do it because Twilight is busy saving the world. Instead of the episode of them trying to be useful and fucking it up, they actually ARE useful and we see Celly 1 shot an evil character who would have been a chellenge for a season 8 Twilight, just to show shes been strong this entire time, but needed twilight to get her shit together. But the other 25% are a small group of writers and animators who believe all art is political, and to leave their mark on art they make then they MUST inject personal philosophy instead of keeping eith established works and quality. Part of this comes from the same situation the Halo tv show runs into: they want their own works and original creations, but execs never give them a chance so they are forced to work on 'popular thing' instead of their real passions. A lot of the mlp staff could make amazing independent shows and film if given the chance.

IDW G5 kind of feels like it overcorrected for the Twilight favoritism of G4.In The Last Problem, Twilight has taken over the duties of both Celestia and Luna, duties that mentally exhausted them and they were two and can handle them just fine, She even has time to hang out friends, while Pinkie, for example, has seemingly given up her life as a party pony to be a housewife and can't even find someone to take care of her kid to spend some time out with her friends. She will live forever, or at least thousands of years, able to continue her pursuit of knowledge and her ridiculous school has been ridiculously successful.In G5's IDW comics we find out she then proceeds to have the twilighting to end all twilightings (most likely literally, considering we never see her or any of the G4 alicorns again), with her taking a page from Starlight’s and Cozy’s books, in a very failed attempt to stop ponies from being racist again, a problem she had successfully dealt with before, ruining her friends' lives and potentially killing a lot of creatures whose lives depended on magic in the process. In every way, even with the support of her friends, she failed.
