Welcome friends, ITT:We make and share pony art, with absolutely no pressure to deliver anything that's technically good (besides having ponies in it, which makes it good by default)Make something, share what you've done, and give feedback and motivation to help us all keep improving and creating! This thread's focus is art, but beginner or low effort content of any kind is welcome here. If you do want to post about something else like music, gamedev, or crafts, though, just note that you may find better help and feedback posting it in the /create/ threadAre you an experienced artist? Leave some tips, feedback, guides, or tutorials, they're well appreciated here!Guides, tutorials and resources! >>43262846>overhand grip to draw...Huh?

Is it wrong for me to internally judge someone when they seem to be making things for years yet they make next to no improvement in actually improving their skills and instead just staying way to comfortable in what they know, rather than actually putting any ounce of effort in improving?Sorry if this comes off as rude but whenever I see someone in that way of being it just always makes me wonder why don't they just put at least a bit of effort in trying to improve rather that staying in what they view as good enough.

>>43262882Great post.

>>43263683I like this :)
>>43262882Breaking from the classical mouth-grip norm might be a hassle but, as you can see here, it can be done to good effect! This technique also keeps ink and paint stains away from your mane!>>43263073Scandalous!>>43263530As one of those kind of people: No. I am also disappointed and angry about that aspect of myself. But just barely not enough to actually stop being lazily comfortable with the 'okay enough' level I'm at.And I'm afraid I'm not analytical enough to answer a 'why?'. But it does seems to be my general mentality in all things and rears it's head in most aspects of my life, even beyond hobbies.
>>43263847In regards to that one thing I'd suggest is asking people what they view as your weak suit and then putting effort at improving that. A lot of people passively say positive things as to not sound rude/hurt other's feelings, when sometimes you just need to put it out there as to what one needs in order to improve. It may hurt one's feelings, but take those types of critiques as something to grow from. Almost every time I've gotten that type of response even if I found it a bit rude, often times they were right and brought me to something I found significantly better than what I was pigeon holing myself into.
Cholo filly and dragon
Does anyone post on any kind of gallery website? The rest of the internetoutside of /mlp/ makes me not want to draw with how shitty it is.>>43263881Based art>>43262882Isn't it called overhoof? Kids these days..
I love trying new perspectives. Flutters' hair can be kinda hard, though.
>>43263873I'm actually quite aware of my weak points and have actively shelved several sketches for not having good enough know-how and/or execution of different art skills to complete the idea to my own standards. And I know what steps I could take to improve. The main issue is that I just don't bother to take those steps.I think it's laziness and a dash of narcisism. Because despite being aware of how mediocre my stuff is, I am still quite proud of everything I do. Even quick doodles and shit. But yes, having people to ask art stuff and honestly critique ones drawings would probably be positive despite all that!
Got the pencil down on the canvas for my painting for marefair. Already got the colors worked out, more or less, so now it's just a matter of putting paint to paper
>>43264013Ooh! I saw this one over in the Lyra thread! So cute!I love the way they are both leaning over the table for their own separate reasons. And I really like these kinds of "what BonBon sees in Lyra" images!>>43264137Very nice! I like the shape of all her legs, and the way her pieces are layered in a way that creates depth and really sells her angled-away body. But yeah, I'd, maybe, add another strand of volume to the back of her mane-swoop there or something, to unite it with the neck mane and not disrupt the circle of her head.
>>43264159Thank you for reminding me to do something for the Mare Gallery. Also looks great anon.
>>43263530For myself, I don't really care about "improving". I just like to draw silly pony things from time to time, not interested in ever being particularly good at it or whatever.
In the previous thread someone asked me to draw Celestia with Angewomonhere you have anon (if you see it)i already did Pinkie with Etemon, next is the comandramon one
>>43264427Based. Fuck assholes who need to turn art into a competition.>>43263530That means you, dickweed.
>>43264629The thing I'm getting at is not the idea of making everything into a hostile competition, but rather where the trajectory people strive for is one where they can improve and look back on what they made they can be happy with how much they've improved. Its just the mindset of trying to improve rather than just stay in the land of stagnation. Its just nice being able to see people be happier with what they're able to accomplish by pushing themselves just that little bit more.
>>43264622would fuck both
>>43264622Would fuck Celestia
>>43263530>Is it wrong for me to internally judge someoneI'd say so. There's a fetish artist in my fetish community who has drawn effectively the same since 2008. People have been bitching about her "not improving" since at least 2012. The art's not terrible, it just hasn't changed much in 15 years. And I don't care because they're at least drawing stuff and have been for over a decade. The ones who "try to improve" are almost always also the ones who crash and burn out after four years and nuke their account.

>>43264957Might just be a different outlook on whats valued. Improving at one's craft should always be encouraged as opposed to leading someone astray to stagnate on the good enough and them never reaching their full potential.
>>43261511cba doing any more effort for the background, and I don't feel like adding shadows yet
>>43264148Nothing wrong with being proud of your creations, Anon. It's just your laziness. There isn't really an easy way of combating that other than just doing it. Find some time to work on whatever you need to improve and then work on it. It'll get easier the more you do it.>>43264427Based.>>43264629You're a hostile man, Anon.
>>43263683Welcome back TgWeaver.
