Welcome friends, ITT:
We make and share pony art, with absolutely no pressure to deliver anything that's technically good (besides having ponies in it, which makes it good by default)

Make something, share what you've done, and give feedback and motivation to help us all keep improving and creating!

This thread's focus is art, but beginner or low effort content of any kind is welcome here. If you do want to post about something else like music, gamedev, or crafts, though, just note that you may find better help and feedback posting it in the /create/ thread

Are you an experienced artist? Leave some tips, feedback, guides, or tutorials, they're well appreciated here!

Guides, tutorials and resources! Start here!

Is it wrong for me to internally judge someone when they seem to be making things for years yet they make next to no improvement in actually improving their skills and instead just staying way to comfortable in what they know, rather than actually putting any ounce of effort in improving?

Sorry if this comes off as rude but whenever I see someone in that way of being it just always makes me wonder why don't they just put at least a bit of effort in trying to improve rather that staying in what they view as good enough.

Breaking from the classical mouth-grip norm might be a hassle but, as you can see here, it can be done to good effect!
This technique also keeps ink and paint stains away from your mane!
>>43263073
Scandalous!
>>43263530
As one of those kind of people: No. I am also disappointed and angry about that aspect of myself. But just barely not enough to actually stop being lazily comfortable with the 'okay enough' level I'm at.
And I'm afraid I'm not analytical enough to answer a 'why?'. But it does seems to be my general mentality in all things and rears it's head in most aspects of my life, even beyond hobbies.
>>
>>43263847
In regards to that one thing I'd suggest is asking people what they view as your weak suit and then putting effort at improving that. A lot of people passively say positive things as to not sound rude/hurt other's feelings, when sometimes you just need to put it out there as to what one needs in order to improve.
It may hurt one's feelings, but take those types of critiques as something to grow from.
Almost every time I've gotten that type of response even if I found it a bit rude, often times they were right and brought me to something I found significantly better than what I was pigeon holing myself into.

I love trying new perspectives. Flutters' hair can be kinda hard, though.
>>
>>43263873
I'm actually quite aware of my weak points and have actively shelved several sketches for not having good enough know-how and/or execution of different art skills to complete the idea to my own standards. And I know what steps I could take to improve. The main issue is that I just don't bother to take those steps.
I think it's laziness and a dash of narcisism. Because despite being aware of how mediocre my stuff is, I am still quite proud of everything I do. Even quick doodles and shit.

But yes, having people to ask art stuff and honestly critique ones drawings would probably be positive despite all that!

Ooh! I saw this one over in the Lyra thread! So cute!
I love the way they are both leaning over the table for their own separate reasons. And I really like these kinds of "what BonBon sees in Lyra" images!
>>43264137
Very nice! I like the shape of all her legs, and the way her pieces are layered in a way that creates depth and really sells her angled-away body.
But yeah, I'd, maybe, add another strand of volume to the back of her mane-swoop there or something, to unite it with the neck mane and not disrupt the circle of her head.
>>

Thank you for reminding me to do something for the Mare Gallery.

For myself, I don't really care about "improving". I just like to draw silly pony things from time to time, not interested in ever being particularly good at it or whatever.

Based. Fuck assholes who need to turn art into a competition.

>>43263530
That means you, dickweed.
>>
>>43264629
The thing I'm getting at is not the idea of making everything into a hostile competition, but rather where the trajectory people strive for is one where they can improve and look back on what they made they can be happy with how much they've improved. Its just the mindset of trying to improve rather than just stay in the land of stagnation. Its just nice being able to see people be happier with what they're able to accomplish by pushing themselves just that little bit more.

>Is it wrong for me to internally judge someone
I'd say so. There's a fetish artist in my fetish community who has drawn effectively the same since 2008. People have been bitching about her "not improving" since at least 2012. The art's not terrible, it just hasn't changed much in 15 years. And I don't care because they're at least drawing stuff and have been for over a decade. The ones who "try to improve" are almost always also the ones who crash and burn out after four years and nuke their account.
>>
>9
>>
>>43264957
Might just be a different outlook on whats valued. Improving at one's craft should always be encouraged as opposed to leading someone astray to stagnate on the good enough and them never reaching their full potential.

Nothing wrong with being proud of your creations, Anon. It's just your laziness. There isn't really an easy way of combating that other than just doing it. Find some time to work on whatever you need to improve and then work on it. It'll get easier the more you do it.

No, it's not wrong at all and I wouldn't listen to the people trying to shame you for your completely valid thoughts. People want to censor and beat anyone into submission who dares speak truths or opinions that might hurt their poor fee-fees, but I for one believe people should be a little less sensitive and accept that others can feel, and think, however they please. The ones feeling offended should look inward to why it offends them so much to begin with. With that said, I agree completely; stagnation isn't a good thing, and I don't really consider those people "true" artists, personally (again, this is a personal definition, no need to take offense). If someone has 10,000 drawings and they all look the same, they are not an artist to me, just somebody who likes to draw. Can people love their repetitive, consistent drawings? Of course! Can said drawings have lots of value? Of course! However, as you say, they do not put any ounce of effort into trying to grow or improve. I believe they become totally content with what they can do, they likely see they have consistent fans that always like their stuff anyway, and become satisfied with that. They do not put extra effort in, because that is simply too hard. Humans are very lazy creatures who can become content even in the most horrid of situations, after all. I do not understand it myself. I would never be satisfied with stagnation and simple consistency, and am always trying my best to improve like a madman. The urge to improve consumes me. I believe I have made great strides the last four years due to my obsessive effort, although it's non-pony so I don't think it's relevant to show here. I would also like to put efforts towards making my ponies look better. I don't think I'll ever get them to be as good as I can draw humanoids, but if I can improve their look then I would be very glad.
>>43264629
Hm, I don't think it's a competition. I only want to grow for my own personal reasons. I'm technically higher skilled than all of my friends, but I absolutely cherish their art and every picture they create because I love seeing the unique things they can make. And I love encouraging them to grow and trying to help them with anatomy, with how to draw with copics, how to make comics, or whatever else they need help with. It's not a competition, but instead a marathon we're all running together!

aj's eye lashes are a tad thick but I suppose that's an intentional stylistic choice? looks a bit incongruous with apple blooms since she had dead on show style lashes. did some tweaks and a lil redline, biggest issue is you seem to angle your snoots down quite considerably you should try to aim for an angle close to but not quite 90 degrees with in about 5-10 degree margin roughly speaking. gave bloom slightly thicker lashes to mirror an re-enforce what you were going with on AJ stylistically but not as thick under the assumption you're going for a more mascaraed look for your mares. tweaked the shape of the bottoms of the eyes slightly rounded and smoothed them out a bit, dropped AJ's freckles a bit to match the move. AJ's eyes could be bigger but that's because her head is a lil small in relation to her body, it isn't a deal breaker but something that should be noted, apple blooms eyes are bigger than her's because of that issue. line work thickness is fine overall along with line quality couldn't hurt to experiment with more variation in line pressure and thickness. overall you're on the right track keep on going! sorry for the novel kek.

When you lack the correct model, just do a texture swap on the closest looking one...

Needed a younger Sci-Twi, but there isn't a Source model for such (for understandable reasons), so I material-swapped Silver Spoon's model.

It's not quite as pronounced in this one, but it was really noticeable in the fishie pond drawing from before. And I mean they ARE cartoons and you have a very cartoony style so it fits! Maybe you get so used to looking at the photo that other colors seem wrong or off.

Felt like trying to do a ponified version of https://files.catbox.moe/sdx5vq.jpg . I couldn't really get the messiness or artifacting perfect, I didn't try to since I don't know how I would intentionally do that, but I think it was fun to do something different. Kind of felt harder than actually drawing normally.
>>
>>43281767
I handdraw everything! Even at a very high resolution, it can be difficult but it's worth it in the end. I feel it gives a more natural look and also helps me improve much more than using tools. I have used lineart tools in CSP, Krita, Photoshop, etc for various works... I think CSP probably has the best lineart tools if I had to choose one, but I like handdrawing with Krita the most. Feels the most natural, like drawing with a pencil on paper.
>>
>>43281656
hell yeah brother a good paying long term job with plenty of growth is worth it. I predominantly draw digitally via mouse, I'm a vector nigger and I use paint tool sai, so my trad skills are lacking. plus my fine motor control isn't that good to begin with and I don't draw trad enough to give a shit about grinding skill points in it.
>>43281767
I use sai i usually just set my brush to the size of the circle I wanna lay down so i can plop shit down with two button strokes, its quick and efficient I use the vector tools because it gives me dictatorial control over the end result and I like having tbeing able to do that.
>>
>>43281767

Anons, can I request?
I need show accurate bald pony busts and separate manes.
I have an idea for a captcha where you need to solve it by pairing up the bust with the mane to solve it.
Or should I try to extract it from the flash assets or something?
I found a pony creator, maybe I could extract a few from there, but it does not have enough mane styles and no presets (and limited color choices..), and a really annoying user interface.

Pretty Rara. And a horribly lewd and vulgar peepee. Good thing you censored it to spare our sensitive eyes!
>>43284450
I doubt I could draw anything like this myself, but I will give suggestions/guesses anyway.
That particular pose and the things it emphasizes are quite humano-centric, so the pony anatomy was bound to get tricky. That angle of the back legs is also a bit difficult since it tends to kind of blur together the different unguligrade leg segments. I'd try making a line emphasizing where the knee bend is, and displacing the "heel" a tad backwards to do the same.
And from my personal taste, I'd have tried to do the pose but with a wholly equine rump, bringing the "thighs" up and in into the butt, and eliminating the glute valley. But that might just smooth it all down into some kind of potato/bean look, and that's probably not what you had in mind.
I really dig your lines and style. The pooling of her mane is great, and I like the wings.
>>43284754

I also love drawing full-front ponies because they tend to easily turn out so very cute!
>>43284938

Again: Personal opinion, but I really like it! Much more of a horsey wide-stance splay!
But, as I feared, it did kinda take a bit of the impact out of the Jack-o pose. There's not as much 'extreme spine arch' or 'all the lady parts angled vertically to the sky' as the pose usually evokes.
And it does feel like a bit of a shame to lose some of all that ass you'd drawn.

I pondered how one might add more meat back, but couldn't wrap my mind around any of it without sketching it out, so here's a rambling, unsolicited redline! I'm not good with anatomy, and didn't do much construction, so it probably doesn't make much logical sense.
I moved the tail back to imply a more aggressive angle of the rear, added (a bit much) back arch (And snuck in more belly too), pumped up the thighs, and with that widened the hip quite a bit too (Maybe even too much. The top left sketch probably does not correlate with how very wide apart the rear legs ended up on the main sketch, probably making it a bit more human again.)
One could even hint at docks and other under-the-tail things like this, if one wanted to. The moved tail is now a bit harder to deal with, since it would want to fall forward and obscure things. And having it fall behind the leg and head like in my suggestion means you can't see the pretty pooling of the hair that you do.
I also included one were I moved the head up and forward together with the ground, bringing her chest lower, to test if that fixes your concerns with the head and lanky proportions?
Note that these are all just my unskilled suggestions! I barely know what I'm doing.
Also also: When looking up the name of the pose just now, I stumbled over a Cold Blooded Twi image of Flutters in the same pose and angle. And all my redline turned out to basically be just: "copy this CBT image". Oops.

Damn that's a good fusion, the second version of my doodle looks very bean-shaped, but that's just how ponies are shaped in canon, you actually made a good redline making her thigs more plump without looking like the Sluttershy I drew on the first version of my sketch
Really good adjustment on the head and the right leg, definitly feels like an upgrade, and the arched back closer to the ground lends the drawing a more dynamic feeling
About the CBT "copy", nothing wrong using other's drawings as references, they can help you grasp some line prospective; and he actually draws some really good ponies... but the way he renders them, they look all so greasy as if they were dipped in oil, it's kinda odd.
As for this fluttershy, I drew it from zero, no fundamentals, nothing.
Maybe it's a sign that I can convey better the things in my head to the paper

/draw/ is just a bunch of /r/s, /d/s, and people saying "I love it! Thanks Anon!"
Meanwhile this thread seems like it actually gives constructive criticism, so that might be part of it.

I think /create/ is kind of a mix of /bale/ and /draw/, in terms of constructive criticism, but drawings also aren't posted there very often, so it might have an unintentional "read the room" bias against posting 2D art.

Still not a fan of the redrawing backgrounds entirely without changing the reference much or picking your own colors. It's so clashing and distracting... It's especially noticeable in these new ones. Quite distracting indeed.

>I only really spend 20 minutes - 1 hour on each of these drawings
This KIND OF feels like a humblebrag cope. Your drawings aren't low effort or low skill just because you're... skilled enough to draw it really fast. The true matter is there's just nowhere else for us to really post which gets to my next point.
>>43292001
I agree, he's a paid professional and showing off work he's getting money for so it can make people like >>43292009 not feel too hot about their own skills. However, there's simply nowhere else to go. When I first came to /mlp/ I was confused about the lack of OC thread, because on my other board there's a general catch-all OC thread for art and music or other projects. But when I went into /create/, it seemed to be for 3D modeling mostly and no one was posting drawings. This was the only thread where I found drawings so this is where I came. Even though it's been over a decade since I drew ponies and I'm super rusty and need to study a lot and learn more, I still don't think I belong in a low effort or low skill thread either. However /bale/ is a super cool thread with cool peeps, and I'd love to keep posting and learning more about drawing ponies. The acronym is fun even if it's not entirely accurate all the time.

I don’t know how to tell you this anon but I’m not “just” color picking from any of the images I reference I sometimes color pick one or two colors to start with and then adjust from there, but not even everything there I used a reference for. I don’t usually do backgrounds but I found this style of doing them really fun so I’ve been trying to get used to it. My colors might not be the best right now because I’m still working on improving just like the rest of you but I’m trying to keep it in mind.

It’s really disheartening to post to a thread I’ve been lurking in for the past 3-4 years the encourage myself to work on improving my art and have people tell me I shouldn’t be posting here. I am not a professional I just draw horses as a side gig for fun.

Anon. Beyond your fantastic pony main subjects, I am very impressed and a little envious of your backgrounds.
They have great composition, perspective, lighting and atmosphere. And despite how fantastic they look and how strongly and tangibly they convey the locales, I can also tell that they were probably made relatively (still leagues beyond me ATM) simply, with kinda quick and easy brushstrokes and color chunks.
Coupled with you saying it takes only up to an hour for a whole piece, your doodle-fu is clearly very strong, since you can complete and convey such clean, cute and polished images that fast while also feeling like it's fast and fun.
Your BG lighting; contrast, shadow and reflections particularly are quite a sight to behold, and are what make them look so realistic.
All of it is very inspirational!

I tinker and fiddle and take forever with all my drawings, even the shitpost doodles, so all you speedy, doodly people are very impressive to me.

NTA, I like your art and I'm glad you're here with us making ponies, but I think mentioning your commission work here in /bale/ while showing off the result of said work is a little in bad spirit. Just sharing your work is fine, but framing them as paid drawings, rather than practice or hobby art... I feel like commercial work is outside the scope of this thread. Sheets like what you presented are exactly the kind of example-work artists show off to customers when advertising commissions, and while you did not include contact information or pricing, it seems like a subtle 'nudge nudge find my socials if you want one' kind of post.
It may not come across that way to every anon, just to some like myself, and because /bale/ is quite polite anons here are either not going to say anything, or try to be gentle about nudging you with their concerns such as with >>43292001
I don't want you to feel disheartened, I just wanted to try and explain something that otherwise wouldn't get put into words before someone comes along and says 'buy an ad'.

In summary please stick around, keep having fun drawing, giving advice to other drawers, etc, but be aware that you are catching flak for some of the things that you say sometimes. It's not the first time I've seen you accused of humblebragging. It may be a 'them' problem but you'll eventually gain a reputation for being both brilliant and infuriating. And you ARE brilliant.
I recognise that explaining social nuance to an autist may be a fool's errand... I blame my own autism
>>
I think, despite the name, artists who improved here shouldn't be sent away. I like to see them improve and always reach for new heights. Being able to see them go through a process of learning something more advanced has helped me understand the process and thoughts people use. Sending them to another thread would also lead to a lot less experienced artists reading and offering insight and tips, it would just be a box of awful artists forming bad habits and not improving. I would also imagine splitting the threads into skill level would result in a lot more threads dying before bump limit and a lot less art being posted.
>>
>>43292653
I don't mean any offense by it. Your art is good enough that I wouldn't call you a beginner artist, and paid commission art probably shouldn't be low-effort. I'm not even saying you need to get the fuck out of here, in fact I'd rather you stuck around. But posting your finished commission work in the beginner art thread feels a little wrong, especially when you're as good as you are.
Really, the only reason why I bring this up is because, imo, /create/ could use the content. The thread died really early last time, and I don't know when they last made it to the bump limit.
>>
>>43292903
/create/ is rather slow- it's not that it doesn't get a lot of art though, technically it gets quite a lot, it's just that it all comes from artists using the drawing room. Tons of doodles.

I'm also torn between my crippling lack of basic fundamentals, general progress and customary feelings like my own art is fucking amateur shit; and myself kinda feeling like, and I think once being tagged as being too fancy.
And the other creative threads feel too cool, or like a poor fit. So I try to only post sketches and true doodles here, and effort art in topic specific threads.
I love these threads.

>>43292524
Man, I feel you.
The pile of overambitious animation storyboard-sketches I racked up in early anticipation of the Anti, that I never even got off the ground, is quite distressing.
And now I'm having trouble even finishing the easy ones that I had to compromise and scale back to, that were originally supposed to just be small "bonus" ones I could do after finishing a big one.
>>
>>43293060

>>
>>43292829
Not like /create/ was always separate anyways. Back in the day it was just one thread to encourage each other to make stuff, but this same little argument happened and some anons capitulated and split the two threads.

Personally I think it would be better that way, as just one thread - newbies and experienced artists benefit from each other's perspectives. I don't think the presence of better artists actually causes people to be discouraged, so much as it is that a discouraged person will find anything to blame it on. I was sad to see the split when it happened.

>>43293220
Based on the angle, I feel like the right nostril should be visible and the mouth adjusted a little. Having only the one tricks the eye into thinking the muzzle's more in profile than it is and that makes the face look a little off since the eye angles say otherwise. It's a style thing, though. I don't think "show accurate" typically does both nostrils like that.

Hi /bale/! I'm at a point where I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, but I do have what I would consider a beginner question, so I hope that's okay?
So what do you guys think about eyes clipping through hair? Should it be avoided completely or does it kinda look good? I think it makes expression much easier to read, but I don't want it to look like deviant art tier work. I've only set it to show the eyelashes, not the underneath color.
Also please feel free to speak on any other aspect of the image too.
>>
>>43293588

>>43293589

>So I started a new drawing instead of continuing a previous one.
Classic. That's why my backlog is so impressive!
Is that alt-manestyle Golly in the back, getting a chance at redemption? Cause that's always nice.
>>43293596
It's a tricky one.
Both have merits. There are some times that I do want to show the eye expressions behind mane chunks. And getting to show the whole open eye can up an image's cute level quite a bit!
But on the other hand, I also like "realism" and try to not use too many techniques that are not "logical". But that's a taste and style thing, more than what's "right". I dunno lol.
>>
>>43293758
On that, sometimes I’ll just find art that I like, and try to copy it. Makes it so I don’t have to come up with an original idea myself but still get practice in. I don’t share these of course.

I see, so it doesn’t inherently look awful, but it should be an intensional decision depending on the specific scene? I think both look good - I’m more partial to showing the eye, but want to make sure I’m not overdoing it. I’m not trying to differ the style much from the show besides more visual fidelity.
>>
>>43293596
it's purely a personal stylistic choice, personally I prefer the eye clipping through because you see more of those big adorable eyes. plus it makes their expression more readable. the only time i don't is if I think the character would benefit more with having obscured eyes or was intended to have obscured eyes.
>>
>>43293596
The weeb in me likes the eye clipping, but it depends on your style/ what you want really. I wouldn't worry about it looking deviant art tier, your art is too good for that.
>>
>>43293596
I prefer the clipping. You're already drawing hyper stylized cartoon honses, I wouldn't think TOO hard about realism. The opacity you chose looks good!
>>
>>43293870
>>43293758
Eye clipping is a realistic effect; the unrealistic aspect in cartoon styles is the perfectly solid opaque manes. Realistically you can almost always tell some features through the gaps in between the curtain of hair. Eye clipping is just a shorthand to express that without overly detailing the hair. It's still a stylistic choice because you can make the opposite argument, but since expressions and facial features are so important, it's hard to argue for totally opaque manes unless you have a specific stylistic goal.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Having second opinions on this type of thing is very useful. I think I’ve decided that I do prefer having the eye clip, since expressions are very important for these characters, but keeping it subtle enough to not be distracting.
> The weeb in me likes the eye clipping
Lol I don’t really watch anime, but their art standard for animation is much higher than the typical western production. So I’ve been attempting to utilize some of their techniques and styling methods while also trying to not stray too far from the show’s own design. Also animating on threes is a bit easier.

I fell victim to leaving some experimental parts as placeholders when I wasn't sure how I wanted it done and then it grew on me. First attempt at something like this and it tripped me up quite a bit, really helped me learn what it is I need to work on.
It's a parody of 1940s pulp horror movie posters, pony is supposed to be Roseluck but the lighting made it difficult for me to express.
>>
>>43293596
It's just a stylistic choice. Personally, I prefer a more realistic look. I'd say clipping works more with a simplistic or cartoony art style. The body shading in the animation gives it more realism, which clashes with the clipping.

Guess I gotta be the dissenter here. Animation is about moving volumes, and trasparent volumes often flatten the image, like it's made of plastic rather than of pony stuff.
Instead of making the volume see through, make the motion emphasize the shape of the volume you are drawing/tweening

The issue is that the torso looks straight but the hips and shoulders are at different angles. It might be because of a lack of detail, the belly is just two lines, but as it is she looks off.
Currently the torso is in line with her hips/legs, so you'll need to fix the connection to her shoulders. At least, that's what I think.

Artists born after the year 2000 can't not invoke Invader Zim in their art. It's impossible.

Not my usual style (mainly because I'm too much of a wuss to experiment), but The Yellow One and Rarity's mane-do felt kinda same-y to draw, more specifically the top half, so I'm trying to see if I can make the jagged mane work alongside the other pones.

Was worried it'd just clash and look out of place but I then drew picrel to see if that's the case if that was the case and I actually kinda like the juxtaposition. Gives kind of a messy look which, given I've always had the impression that What's-Her-Face didn't have a particularly well-kept mane, works for me.

based you caught the vibe well, she pops out quite a bit along with the title in the thumbnail at least. 40's theater posters were very effective at grabbing your attention with contrast, dynamism, and "modernism", modernism from a 40's perspective that is. And it doesn't lend itself to ponies as much because ponies rely mostly on their silhouette and color palette to be recognizable and less on realism. that's all I gotta say right now, I like it for what it is and how you went about executing it.

I feel the same. As I'm getting older, I have less and less time for this hobby. Which sucks cause it's one of the few things I actually enjoy doing.
I wish the film/TV industry wasn't so messed up right now, I would actually try to make a career out of it.
Good drawing by the way, I think it's time for my meds anyway.

I fucked the proportions on that one, making a pony standing on two legs was harder than I thought. I feel decently comfortable using Krita now though.

Bipedal ponies are tough. I bit of extra detail but don't know if it is going in the right direction.

I see we're both in hell, in the same pot of boiling oil. Light source appears to be from above, so I think Twi's haunches and the top of her right foreleg need to be lighter.

heeeeeey, i know a mentally advanced fan when i see it! agreed with the other anon, i love the angles you’ve got going on. i’ve been trying to do similar things with my manes and tails!
>>

doing good! add more volume to the manes, ponies have big hair and it makes them cuter. in general just doing lots of studies and trying to improve is all it takes to be sure you're heading in the right direction.

Aww, Arizona is cute, look how happy she is! Nice work anon, it's a very sweet drawing. Clear example of fangers being a pain in the neck, kek. Your digital linework looks fine, and you mentioned worrying that your ears are too big, but I don't see a problem with them.

I made my best friend an OC! While conceptualizing it, I settled on white with a bright, warm-colored mane... meanwhile, rabbits are kind of his thing and he also wanted a pompadour for the mane for some reason... I struggled to fit it all into one cohesive design until I came up with the idea for the mane being styled like a carrot, and I felt like a genius. I'm especially proud of what I came up with for the cutie mark.
>Sunnyrabbit (Sunny) is a cheerful pegasus who loves to brighten up everypony's day! He works on the weather team, and on rainy days, he digs holes through the clouds so that the sun still shines on anypony who needs it, like birthday parties, weddings, or just somepony having a bad day.

>His cutie mark is the sun shining through holes in a cloud, stylized as a rabbit. He's an expert on tunneling through clouds without dissipating them, because ever since he was a foal, he's been searching through the skies for "Cloud Carrots", a legend dating back to pre-Equestrian times when the Pegasus tribe was searching for a crop that could be cultivated without relying on trade with the Earth Ponies.

Phew, it took me way too long to finish this because my health took a bit of a nosedive lately, but I'm finally done. I feel like I'm slowly getting used to drawing ponies again... I really missed this. Next I'll continue studying pony construction for a while before trying another piece.

It gives me very melancholic vibes, for some reason. Which I like.
It's very pretty, and I really like the prominent textures across all of it!
Her back legs are a bit off for on-model proportions, with the long "shin" section and very short "heel to hoof" section.
But she's also a carousel pony, and they do tend to sometimes be molded in such proportions to make them low enough to the ground. So it can be a stylistic choice.

thank you for the critique! im a human artist so ponies are still a bit misshapen
