Got slapped with a 3-day for practicing black magic outside of /b/ so that's why there wasn't a new thread for a few days. Though I did use my time away to actually do some shit, namely finally give Quake 1 a try. (Metal Church's debut album makes the perfect soundtrack to Episode 2. If any of you are Quake fans, I HIGHLY recommend you play E2 while listening to that album. Gives some really sick atmosphere.)>>127542374Personal preference but I prefer Melissa over this one, riffs are faster and (to me) more memorable on that record. Could also be that I've listened to Melissa far more than Don't Break the Oath but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>127542397Split halfway between late '70s JP and early Lizzy Borden, solid stuff right here. >>127542374such a kickass album cover
New Helloween album drops tomorrow! I won't be checking it out right away (still need to listen to Keeper II and their self-titled from a few years ago), but what about you guys?
Jeff Martin and Greg Chaisson's early '80s metal band. Never got signed but their demo was pretty heavily bootlegged - a buddy burned me a CD-R of seven or eight songs like ~15 years ago. About two albums' worth of stuff has now been picked up and given an official release.Good stuff if not a little generic. Halford pops up on a few songs.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCQFckKaM9Y&https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQW6XXsLJRM&
>>127547626 are they related to racer x?
>>127547643Yes, Jeff Martin was the singer in Racer X and then the second drummer in Badlands.
>>127547626Listening to the first one right now. Even ignoring Halford's presence this is really reminiscent of Killing Machine-British Steel era Priest. Like that groovy, almost rocking bounce to this one really brings to mind a lot of the material off those two albums.Good song btw, though you are right when you say it's nothing special. My favorite part is probably the chorus riff, it's got some great energy.

It might just be the way Blackie Lawless writes songs though, because he definitely has a preference how to structure a chorus melody for example. Just like in Black Forever he's written tons of songs that have choruses that kind of begins with words on the beat and ends with a couple of long notes/words. Or perhaps Frankie Banali had complete freedom to arrange the drums however he wanted and just liked the fast disco groove and 50 tom-tom rolls in a song.

>>127550398>strawpoll.com/NMnQNXdaBg6The first editions of Master of Reality came in an 'envelope sleeve' containing a poster of the band, and with the album's title embossed in black lettering, visible in relief. Later editions lacking the embossed printing would render the album title in grey. This was the first Black Sabbath sleeve on which the lyrics were reproduced on the back of the sleeve. In his autobiography Iommi describes the cover as "Slightly Spinal Tap-ish, only well before Spinal Tap". The labels of the album were different too, as Side A featured the infamous[citation needed] swirl label, although the black circles were white and the white circles black. Side B, which was the information label, was black with white writing instead of white with black writing. That variant of the Vertigo label was never to be used again thereafter. On the first North American editions of the album, several songs had subtitles given to segments, making it appear that there were more songs than there actually were. The intro of "After Forever" was given the title "The Elegy", the coda of "Children of the Grave" was called "The Haunting", the intro of "Lord of This World" was titled "Step Up", and the intro of "Into the Void" called "Deathmask". This treatment had also been used on the North American editions of Black Sabbath's previous two albums. These pressings also incorrectly listed the album title as Masters of Reality.[14] Subsequent editions corrected the album's title and removed three of the four subtitles (all but "The Elegy").

Immaculate! Definitely the best Helloween album I've listened to so far, this record takes all the best elements from Part I and expands upon them while also adding back more of the speed from their debut EP and LP. I already posted Eagle Fly Free so have my other favorites:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_ai1QyLkUAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyhX2dZY-Lshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7-pFa8KHAU (probably this band's best song besides Ride the Sky)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDpAahKUNB4
Damn solid NWOTHM that's reminiscent of a lot of bands but primarily Iron Maiden, Helloween and Exciter. >>127547253I'll give it a try for sure, I hope they don't fill it with politics and Russia-ukraine bs, unlike many regional bands have been doing.
>>127552269>I hope they don't fill it with politics and Russia-ukraine bs, unlike many regional bands have been doing.Yeah same here. I get doing this with stuff like thrash (where politics & war have always been core themes), but to me making songs about modern-day conflict just doesn't work with power metal. And if it does, it's only occasionally.
Starts off with an excellent song, and while the rest of the album is good it just doesn't compare. Most noteworthy thing about this release is the very pronounced Deep Purple influence; to the point where Ritchie James (the keyboardist for this band) uses a Hammond organ in addition to keyboards.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fl2k8RctyQ
>>127552269>>127552302It got a 9/10 in Sweden Rock Magazine. The reviewer didn't go deep into the lyrics, but from reading the titles and his description of the songs I doubt there's much politics.

>>127552888>With a little (a lot) distance from the album “Helloween” (2021), it is more than clear that a comparison to the fairy tale “The Emperor's New Clothes” can be made. Singer Michael Kiske and guitarist Kai Hansen were back, but the songs were exactly the same as before. The talk of managing the heavy legacy was really only apparent in the single “Skyfall.” But that was something I didn't want to admit to myself at the time.>It is clear that the members also share the same opinion about the previous album. Because now, and for real this time, they are flexing their collective muscles instead of relying on the name and achievements of individual members. That said, it is still two individuals who are taking revenge on the last album. Kiske, who mumbled his way through “Helloween,” reaches former heights with power and commitment, and Kai's rock-hard finale “Majestic” is among the best he has ever put his name on! Before that, he lets Gamma Ray meet ABBA in “We Can Be Gods,” while Michael Weikath takes us to classic ‘Weikie’ territory in the power metal-sparkling “Savior of the World” and the glam-like “Under the Moonlight.” Andi Deris, in turn, deftly explores the pop metal side in “A Little is a Little Too Much” and “This is Tokyo.” In a way, guitarist Sascha Gerstner is the one who pays the most tribute to the band's history, as he highlights both singers in their respective showpieces. Otherwise, the vocals are shared equally between the two, with Kai also taking part in three of the songs.>The rating is sky-high, but “Giants & Monsters” is also by far the best thing Helloween has released since “The Time of the Oath.”There.

is there a reason for all the different color versions of the cover?
>>127554668Hey look it's the bottom of a pool noodle.>is there a reason for all the different color versions of the cover?IIRC this album's text was embossed, so I imagine that for every time the record label reissued it, they didn't want to keep doing that so settled on a standard cover after a while. Just my theory, though.
>>127554668milking collectorscum
>>127554710Maybe nowadays but back when this LP came out? I'm not sure, most of the alternate covers for this record come from the '70s, and I don't think milking collectors was as widespread then as it is now.
>>127554735serious answer, the album title was embossed against a black background originally. it was colored in later so you could see it for non embossed versions like tape and CD i think
>>127554772>serious answer,Ah my mistake, I couldn't tell lol. >it was colored in later so you could see it for non embossed versions like tape and CD i thinkThat's what I was thinking, too. >>127561826>>127561842>Double Penetration
>>127554668First reason is different national markets often had their own variants. In those days even the major record companies were not very centralized and regional branches tended to operate more like independent franchises, so they would often have to print their own sleeves based on specs sent from the global headquarters, or in some extreme cases design their own completely new sleeves. Second reason is just that this album has been reissued dozens of time on vinyl and CD and things change, especially since the original sleeve had raised lettering that wouldn't work for jewel case booklets.
Why is Uriah Heep so neglected in the early metal conversation? They were just as important as Deep Purple and Budgie and David Byron inspired a generation of metal shriekers as much as Gillen did.
>>127563596>Why is Uriah Heep so neglected in the early metal conversation?Because they don't have that unequivocally metal album(s) like Deep Purple and Budgie do. Heep also weren't really trailblazers, at least not as much as DP was. They also never had that MEGA hit that solidified their reputation with the greater population.Deep Purple:- Very early (if not first) examples of galloping metal riffing- First speed metal song- Ritchie Blackmore was a core influence on neoclassical metal- Pretty much any fast, melodic metal you can trace back in some way to these guys.- Ian Gillan's screaming, shrieking style was much... much different from the other bands on the scene like Zeppelin and Sabbath. Uriah Heep also had this, but they weren't first.- Two undeniable metal albums, those being In Rock and Machine HeadAnd this is just off of the top of my head.
>>127563723>Heep also weren't really trailblazers, at least not as much as DP was>Uriah Heep also had this, but they weren't first. The first Heep album came out almost simultaneously with In Rock
>>127563742>The first Heep album came out almost simultaneously with In RockTrue, but I've listened to that album multiple times and while it does some new stuff for the time (like Gypsy's dramatic chorus and the organ solo) in my opinion it didn't change the game anywhere near as much as In Rock did. (Now if it had Bird of Prey on it, that'd be a different story...)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlyyJS_iNsQIMO Heep's only major, wide-reaching contribution to metal is their intricate song structures (just listen to Shadow's of Grief off LaY) and Byron's theatrical vocals. The band were a pivotal but often forgotten building block for bands from the '80s like Mercyful Fate, Metal Church; fuck pretty much any USPM band, really.
Forgot this but they were also pretty key influence on progressive metal. Not as foundational as Rush but not too far off.
>>127563723>They also never had that MEGA hit that solidified their reputation with the greater populationThat may be, but songs like Bird of Prey were practically worshiped in the NWOBHM scene. They may not have had the preeminent prestige of Deep Purple but that doesn't erase their influence.
>>127564004>They may not have had the preeminent prestige of Deep Purple but that doesn't erase their influence.Oh I don't think it erases Heep's influence at all, I just think Deep Purple was a more influential band on metal as a whole.
Not as crammed full of gold as the other two LP's from the early era but still has a lot of excellent shit. The title track could very well be the heaviest song of the '70s, and Road Racin' has been a personal favorite of mine since I first listened to it. Also you have NOT lived properly until you've sped down the highway with that song blasting over the speakers, it's an exhilarating experience.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLj-YBRKiXghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaAsBS-tMoghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o56ryCy-wFohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5O6h7Pk1XX4
Heep never truly got over the "poor man's Deep Purple" tag the music media put on them. Very unfair imo, there's stylistic overlap of course but they're not close enough to be clones. That said, I'd argue that Heep's biggest influence on music as a whole were their huge overdubbed vocal harmonies, which were a big influence on Queen and a lot of '80s Europop like a-ha.
>>127566175>That said, I'd argue that Heep's biggest influence on music as a whole were their huge overdubbed vocal harmoniesOh yeah I forgot about that! Quite revolutionary for the early '70s, and besides Queen I really can't name many other bands that did it.
Heep are just a slowed down and more psychedelic version of Purp, simple as.
>>127566632>Heep are just a slowed down and more psychedelic version of PurpReductionist (no mention of Byron's extravagant, theatrical vocals on their heavier songs?), but yes.
>>127562960This was pretty cool. Can you recommend any more of their albums?
>>127567305>hasn't listened to any metallica albumsCan't tell if you're fucking with me or not but I'll provide a serious response regardless. I'm only really strong on Metallica's first two LPs (particularly RTL), and while MOP and AJFA are good records; I don't think they're as good as everyone else says. MOP has some filler and one song that REALLY shouldn't have been included, and AJFA has several songs that just go on way... way too fucking long. Not because they're progressive or anything, but because there's so many repeated sections in almost every song on that record. MOP also suffers from this issue quite a bit, (was the ending reprisal in the title track really necessary?) but it's far more egregious on AJFA.
It's a good record and no doubt quite a bit better than Taking Over, but from the classic era nothing has really eclipsed Feel the Fire for me. (Well TYOD did, but it's been months since I listened to that album.) >>127568994>>Salisbury is much better than FireballThis is actually the only early Heep album I still need to check out so I can't really comment on it.>>Look at Yourself if ridiculously above FireballAgreed, though not by that much. If it didn't have that weird piano rock song towards the end I'd consider it a landslide victory for Heep, though!>>Demons and Wizards is better than Machine HeadEh, no. Highway Star, Space Truckin', Pictures of Home, pretty much the entire album sans those two rock songs (you know the ones, they're still good but they're clearly not up to par with the rest of the album) is masterclass. Off Demons and Wizards the only song I REALLY like is Rainbow Demon.
>>127569047>This is actually the only early Heep album I still need to check outyou won't regret it!there's no doubt Heep mogged Purple in the year of '71 at least... brutally so.
Alright is Kill 'Em All speed or thrash metal? I'm inclined to say its a speed metal album and you can hear the more NWOBHM influence in it. Slayer's Welcome to Hell is the first thrash metal record
Peace out tradbros! Since the poll is a 50/50 split, and I highly doubt this one will last until the morning; I'm just letting you all know that for the next thread I'll be choosing the album that got to two votes first. >>127569114Personally I think Deep Purple's songwriting is much more to the point. Early Uriah Heep had all these slower and often soft interludes in many of the songs, which for some people might be great, but I lose some of the interest.

>>127563723>- Ian Gillan's screaming, shrieking style was much... much different from the other bands on the scene like Zeppelin and Sabbath. Uriah Heep also had this, but they weren't first. How different were they really from zeppelin?
>>127572715>How different were they really from zeppelin?Robert Plant could shriek, but his style of singing is almost always more reserved (best comparison I can think of is Immigrant Song VS. Hard Lovin' Man) and he just couldn't hit the high notes Gillan could; nor could he sustain them for as long. The lines Plant sings when he does his higher-register are also strange too, in that they usually tapers them off at the end. And they don't sound quite as powerful as Gillan's did, either. Now I'm no expert, but I do sing for fun from time to time, and what it sounds like to me is that Rob used his head voice for when he wanted to sing in a higher pitch.
How are you guys holding up? Ozzy passing saddened me.
>>127569047I usually listen to Demons & Wizards as a whole instead of putting individual tracks on a playlist or whatever. Some of them work on their own but the album always felt like one piece to me. An extremely good one at that; I'd probably place it above Machine Head
I think there's an argument to be made that the A side to this album is one of (if not) the best batch of heavy metal from the '70s. Not even that the B side is bad, mind you it's still fucking phenomenal; but the first four songs are just flawless. >>127573123I'll relisten to D&W later today. Alright so I'm looking into 1982-1983 for the next /trad/ essentials chart, and I can safely say that '82 and '83 need to be split up into separate charts. 1983 just has too many amazing releases and it'd completely dominate a chart with both years included. So here's what I have for 1982 (of course like every other chart the first row represents my personal favorites out of these), but I need two more albums to fill it out. Any suggestions?
>>127572929>and what it sounds like to me is that Rob used his head voice for when he wanted to sing in a higher pitch. There's barely any vocalist in hard rock/metal that uses strictly head voice in the higher register. They use a mix of chest and head voice. The exception is King Diamond and if you listen to how weak his higher register sounds in comparison to Robert Plant for example you know'd what I mean.>>127574849Gary Moore - Corridors of PowerThe Michael Schenker Group - Assault AttackMotörhead - Iron FistPagan Altar - Pagan AltarThe Rods - Wild DogsTygers of Pan Tang - The CageUriah Heep - AbominogWhitesnake - Saints & SinnersWinterhawk - RevivalY&T - Black Tiger

As expected, 1983 is already giving me a lot of choices. I already put down my favorites of the year in the top row as well as some pretty surefire ones in the second one. What do you guys want in the final two rows?

>>127575564>>AC/DC - Flick of the Switch>No.It was 100% a metal album in the 80s.>>Def Leppard - Pyromania>Great album but not a metal album. It only has like one metal song, and that's Stagefright.Same with Def Leppard.
>>127575657>It was 100% a metal album in the 80s.In the '80s, yes. But by any conventional standard or one that isn't very dated, no. AC/DC across their entire discography only has 3-4 genuinely metal songs, and two of them are from the '70s. Also you have to remember that fucking Poison & Bon Jovi were considered metal by many people in the '80s.>Same with Def Leppard.Def Leppard's first two albums are metal/rock, yes, and Pyromania was also considered a metal album back then... but again, that album is ONLY metal if you go by the standard of 40 years ago. Because if you look at Def Leppard's first two albums with a modern lens; they're still undeniably metal! They have metal riffing all over the place (especially on OTTN) and while they don't sound terribly heavy now, metal isn't about being heavy. It's about the style of riffs. >Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) Has some metal riffing but is pretty much just glam.>PhotographGlam/pop rock.>StagefrightHeavy/glam in roughly equal quantities.>Die Hard the HunterSome riffs but is overall more rock oriented.>Foolin'Same as the last but a heavier song. And the final three songs off of that LP have absolutely nothing metal about them.

>>127576001>Perhaps it's just me but I don't differentiate heavy metal from hard rock. That's just how the cookie crumbles mate.>Hate that genre term. And I wouldn't agree with putting that tag on it either.I certainly would. The chorus to that song is REALLY reminiscent of pop, and outside of the sugared up production it doesn't really remind me of an AOR song.>but I don't even putting glam there is a stretch. At its most basic definition glam metal is just having a very catchy chorus and catchy, simple riffing. Obviously it's a bit more in depth than that, but personally I think that fits Photograph to a tee.>In my opinion they weren't a hair/glam band until Hysteria/ Adrenalize. This I agree with, because while I do think Pyromania is a glam album... it's a pretty light one. It's much more plain hard rock than glam. Hysteria is where they took the full plunge.
Y'know what, I'm gonna go give Pyromania another spin. I'm actually pretty curious how much metal I can hear in the individual songs.

>>127575516Victims of the Future was actually the very beginning of 1984. The album Moore did release in 1983 was a shelved album from 1980, Dirty Fingers, that Jet Records released to cash in on Corridors of Power selling well. He bitched and moaned for years about Jet screwing him on it, saying that they were only demos and most of the songs weren't finished (some of it was recycled into stuff on his Virgin albums, so I'd believe him), but the material's strong - basically his NWOBHM album. A really good band too - Moore, Charlie Huhn, Jimmy Bain, Tommy Aldridge and Don Airey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDx2aGVKhrk&https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqsSx5HUixQ&https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BNeDzmAt8U&But yeah, Moore absolutely deserves a mention on these charts. He was effectively the UK's Eddie Van Halen in the early-mid '80s.As for the Alcatrazz album, yeah, I agree. Say what you will about the production or the songs just being second-rate Rainbow or whatever, but it was a pretty integral album in the development of neoclassical metal.
>>127577270The solo at about 2:49 is the most rock n roll part of it. It's got a classic sort of melody that usually got used in Rock n roll riffs (despite being used for a solo here). https://youtu.be/OvJrJcVAQQs?t=169I think it might be related to boogie woogie.
>>127577385Gary Moore has now been added, and the Alcatrazz album is also here for its influence on neoclassical metal. Should stuff like KEA be included? Personally I don't see a reason why not, especially if Metal Church will inevitably get on the charts in '84 and '86.

I actually like Lynch's first solo album a lot more than either of them - you get Glenn Hughes and Ray Gillen on a few songs and a great Latin instrumental.https://youtu.be/evWTUqzA3sU?si=4PKhHyuD2BbEFyCphttps://youtu.be/DcXTuNranuo?si=BPw9ACxK-2sZJWthhttps://youtu.be/MjZeARdeInc?si=7q0PZvKwOKC_djkw
Any thoughts on twisted sister? Outside their 2 big hits.
>>127581524I got stay hungry on CD when I was 8 or 9 because it looked heavy. I really like that album, got some doomy sabbathy tracks and it pretty catchy, never bothered with their other albumshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVD44sE2KGE
>>127581524They're okay. I re-listened to Under the Blade at work this week and was reminded the guitar playing was very basic and rock n' rollsy. They were a great live band though. And Dee Snider solo was also fantastic live.
>>127580429Best song off their debut, love the solo on this one>>127581524Stay Hungry is a great album and they have some classics outside of that like Under the Blade, Tear It Loose, The Kids Are Back, and Ride to Live (Live to Ride)
>>127581854>I got stay hungry on CD when I was 8 or 9 because it looked heavy. I really like that album, got some doomy sabbathy tracks and it pretty catchy, never bothered with their other albums>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVD44sE2KGEBurn In Hell was good. Nature of the Beast also has similar vibe, but a little bit slower I think. They've got a definite darker vibe than the 2 songs Twisted Sister is known for.
An otherwise good album that is completely castrated by the vocalist and overproduction. And with how many fucking effects they added on this guy's vocals in post, it starts to sound like -core shit. Not recommended in the slightest, this was a miserable listen.
>>127584023>Burn In Hell was good.Best song off of the record besides the title track imo. Burn in Hell is pretty just US power metal, and I really do wonder what would've happened if Twisted Sister actually went down the route of bands like Manilla Road & Cirith Ungol. Because from that song (plus Destroyer, Horror-Teria & The Beast) they clearly could do that heavy, theatrical style; and do it damn well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHVDUCrHE00https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iccKvxl7tuA>They've got a definite darker vibe than the 2 songs Twisted Sister is known for.Under the Blade (title track) fits among these as well. It's a pretty freakin' menacing riff for 1982. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDBxiuLrfSA
What are your thoughts on the song from their first album, destroyer?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBQGAGkx9bgThe lyrics (and the pace of the song as well) make it feel like a reference/tribute to the song Iron Man.
>>127586219>What are your thoughts on the song from their first album, destroyer?I fuckin' love it! It's really doomy, and Dee's vocals are badass.>The lyrics (and the pace of the song as well) make it feel like a reference/tribute to the song Iron Man.Yeah I can see it. And the riff+solo at 2:06 also reminds me of a few parts of Hand of Doom.
Bump
Don't know if anybody's in this thread right now but I went ahead and did the 1983 chart anyways. I decided to add thrash metal, changed my format to be more consistent, and added the following albums:Accept - Balls to the WallArmored Saint - Armored SaintKrokus - Headhunter (this wasn't recommended at all but it's an underrated release and one of my favorites from 1983)Metallica - Kill 'Em AllSlayer - Show No MercyWarlord - Deliver Us
Cirith Ungol - Frost and FireCirith Ungol - King of the DeadThose two albums were real revelations to me.
>>127588873>Cirith Ungol - King of the DeadOh you know damn well this is getting on the 1984 chart. Phenomenal album and one that I grew a whole new appreciation for once I stopped getting filtered by the vocals.
>>127576152I think Pyromania is a good album, but it's also when Def Leppard started to lose what made them great. They completely lost it after Rick Allen's car accident.
>>127589454>I think Pyromania is a good albumI think it's a great album, actually.>but it's also when Def Leppard started to lose what made them great. Is it really though? Sure the production is a lot more sugary than High 'n' Dry but otherwise Pyromania's sound is a logical progression from that album. Melodic hard rock with excellent, catchy hooks.>They completely lost it after Rick Allen's car accident.Abso-fucking-lutely. Hysteria may be the next step sonically from the poppiest stuff off Pyromania, but it has none of the style or ANY of the catchy hooks that album does. It's also very... very bloated and just goes on way too goddamned long.
>>127589497i liked pour some sugar on me.
>>127589673That song fucking sucks, even ignoring it being overplayed.- Bad vocals- Awful hook- Generic riff- The most sanitized, sugary production possible. In my mind there's only ONE good song off of Hysteria, and that's the title track. The rest of that record ranges from average-total garbage.
The perfect blend of heavy/melodic. And probably the best glam album to be honest, every song here's just fucking great and George Lynch is firing on all cylinders on this record. (Seriously! Listen to the solo on Til the Livin' End, it's madness!) Speaking of that song, am I the only one who thinks that Don would've also made a great power metal vocalist? Obviously that song isn't proper power metal, but it has plenty of elements of the genre and Don's performance on that tune is just incredible and dare I say one of his best vocal performances.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qY5xG7ovfkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEuZIXug0iYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2HwGIbVgY0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Oy6XBZuc8shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZnCAonuSD4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib5KldneotQ

Before listening to a bunch of new material, do you listen to a warmup album? Picrel is usually my choice, but I also spring for Queensryche's debut EP a lot of the time.

>>127595808Remember the four letters: I, K, E, and A.
You know the drill. My favorites in the top row, while everything else is suggested by everyone ITT. And since these charts are supposed to be representative of all of us, I'm only adding albums that have two or more votes.
Wrote this song over the last few weeks to honor the fallen king Prince of Darkness Eternal Ozzy, the world still trembles when I say your name,The air feels emptier, never the same. You weren’t just a singer, you were the night,A broken angel bathed in stage-light.Your voice was cracked, yet holy and true,Every word you sang cut straight through.Through chaos and laughter, through stumble and fall,You were the heartbeat that carried us all.[Chorus] When Ozzy died, the world cried,Every lost soul was unified. When Ozzy died, the world cried,We mourned our father, our friend, our guide. The Crazy Train still runs in my veins,Your shadow lingers, your spirit remains. So fragile, so wild, so strangely divine,A prince of darkness who felt like mine.[Bridge]I whisper your name when the lights go low,Ozzy, my hero, I can’t let go.You showed me madness, you showed me grace,I see forever in your weathered face.[Chorus – softer, then desperate] When Ozzy died, the world cried,The angels wept, the demons sighed. When Ozzy died, the world cried,But in our hearts, you never died.Raise your horns, let sorrow flow,Ozzy eternal — we can’t let go.

>>127596370I'll count that as a vote in favor of HtE so that album's added.
>>127596191Second verse is a throw away but the rest is cool nonetheless. Personally, id opt to allude more of his prior works/words like you did on the second verse, then you could even get away with stealing a better rhyme under the guise of homage

>>127596191>The Crazy Train still runs in my veins,>Your shadow lingers, your spirit remains.>So fragile, so wild, so strangely divine,>A prince of darkness who felt like mine. You got a bit too indulgent with this verse, I'd nix it and come up with something else.
>>127596355You can translate the big text in the top right by yourself and see.
>>127596355>>127596589And here's the strangle story:>Don Dokken claims he has better things to do than talk about George Lynch, but once you get him started, he can talk forever. The singer turns into a candy machine with a mechanical claw.>You insert a token—that is, mention George Lynch by name—and it automatically pulls out a bizarre story from Don's inner darkness.>Many involve physical violence. For a while, Don felt so threatened by his guitarist that he placed a pocket knife and a can of pepper spray on the drum riser before every concert. Otherwise, he didn't dare perform.>"George threatened to come to my binge in the middle of the night and try to strangle me. Which he did. During the last concert we ever did together, he strangled me until I almost lost consciousness. It was his son who finally pulled him away. The whole band just sat there. I said, ‘You weren't going to come to my rescue, were you?’ Jeff sat there. Mick sat there. The roadies too. No one said anything. ‘Okay, thanks, guys.’ That was the last time I ever played with George.>The harassment didn't just happen backstage, but also on stage. As soon as Don turned his back on the guitarist, he could count on a glob of spit landing between his shoulder blades. The wardrobe girl had to spend a lot of time washing Don's stage clothes to get George's saliva out.
>>127596651>And it was not uncommon for the drinks in the dressing room to be spiked with urine. When I entered the dressing room and raised my glass to my mouth, Mick would grab me and say, “No, you don't want to drink that, Don.” “What do you mean?” “Just let me mix you a new drink instead.” And then George would get angry because Mick had said something. I wondered what was going on, and Mick whispered, ‘George pissed in your drink. And then stirred it with his dick.’ Five minutes later, we had to go on stage and look happy. I was extremely pissed off at George. Everyone wondered why Don looked so pissed off on stage. Well, because I was fucking pissed off.
