what are your honest thoughts on fear factory?

are they truly the best 90s metal band?
>>
>>127571522
The vocals ruin it.
>>
They slipstreamed into that gap of no solos (the trend of the era), making up for it with great rhythms. Sort of bridging the gap between thrash and groove metal, with tinges of industrial.

Have you heard the instrumental tracks from Carmageddon?

>best 90s metal band
White Zombie
>>
>>127572778
KEK. No fucking way. That title goes to Pantera.
>>
>>127572810
Pantera ruined metal with the tryhard toughguy shit. They both represented the groove metal turn of the 90s, but Phil is the reason metal became shit. Dimebag was cool though. He would have been great in White Zombie lol.

>>127571522
This album is so much better than the rest of their discography, it's the perfect dystopian cyberpunk soundtrack and then on the next album they go nu-metal
>>
>>127571522
This album is 10/10 it was very different from everything else at the time. The follow up Obsolete got diluted and rapperfied so that's a 6/10
>>
>>127571522
strapping young lad is the best 90s industrial metal band, and yes I know they're a fear factory ripoff
>>
>>127571533
>The vocals ruin it.
leave the thread
>>
>>127571522
like them or not but they made a ton of revolutions with these vocals, album mixings, guitar tones and other shit
>>
>>127573553
They are way more aggressive and unhinged than Fear Factory

People talk about Meshuggah but this album basically pioneered djent

Chaosphere mogs them all, but I love 90's Fear Factory and SYL
>>
meshuggah post destroy erase improve is barely metal. it's more like technical metalcore.
>>
Fear Factory's story is really odd, the band members all sued each other multiple times over who got the biggest slice of the pie. Everyone who gets involved in the band seems to get pulled into a bitter dispute over money.
>>
>>127572767
god damn it I wish I still had that CD, for both the game and the soundtrrack.

Is there anywhere you can directly download the instrumental tracks?

>>127571522
They get slept on, especially on the Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack where everyone obviously all about the techno theme song.

Also I guess I'm gonna get shit on but Obsolete is probably my favorite album of theirs. I just like how it feels more of a dystopian sci-fi concept album than Demanufacture.
>>
>>127576016
not that odd, what's odd is when a band manages to last decades with the same members with absolutely no drama.

Mushroomhead, Slipknot, Static-X, Soulfly, Ill Nino, Marilyn Manson, etc etc etc. So many 90s bands are left with only just the one original member if they're so lucky.

Bands like Mudvayne and SOAD don't really count since they took like 10+ years off.
>>
>>127576016

It's mostly Dino Cazares being a fat untrustworthy beaner. Ray Herrera is just a stoner who has enough of Dinos shit. IDK about Burton C Bell
>>
Do they have any songs as good as Replica?
>>
>>127571522
I like them. Been listening to them since 7th grade. They're stuff without Dino is just as good as with.
>>
>>127572849
>ignorant redneck = tough guy
um okay
>>
>>127576139
>They get slept on
Nah this is what I thought at like 15.
They get slept on because they suck ass and besides being the forebears of nu-metal, are the linchpin of modern metalcore vocals. Everyone in 2012 forgot them because of how hated -core [rightfully] was and could draw a clear line from FF to that abortion of a genre.
>>
>>127578947
okay then retard
>>
>>127571522
drums were too much
would have been better with less
>>
>>127572849
Nice cope there, faggot. Pantera were the kings in the 90’s.
>>
>>127571522
I have no opinion of them, I don't think i've ever listened to a fear factory song or album before. I don't listen to that kind of music

>what are your honest thoughts on fear factory?
Some good albums, songs are often held down by clean-ish vocal choruses that seldom fit.
>are they truly the best 90s metal band?
If "90s metal" means alternative metal as a broader movement including groove, industrial, etc., they're up there. Couldn't pick the best off-hand, it's been a while since I listened to all that.
If you just mean timeframe, fuck no.
>>
mortal kombat ost
>>
>>127573837
>djent
fuck it
fear factory sucks then
>>127576729
ray & wolbers(after a while of staying in the band) were the true stone of FF not the dino who does the same shit for metalheads for like 15 years
>>
>>127573837
destroy erase improve came out the same year
