is the age of the crustang finally over?
You guys are playing authentic, right?
>>127588620no I just seethe about things I cant afford
>reinstalled guitar after 8 years or so>i can't even play easy power chord pop punk songs anymorei thought i would at least have a base but i'm so lost and everything buzzes and i have no precision
>>127588620Well, about the playing part...
I would sacrifice 1 billion indians if I could learn to shred

>>127588564My fav beater epiphone from highschool needs a refret, instead of paying for that, I got a nice used MiJ LP clone this year. Less then two months later, I got a chinese strandberg clone because the LP is heavy as shit and not fun to dick around with and practice modes. When will GAS end???

i can't believe there are people that can actually shred and chug while drunk out of their mind headbanging in the sumo position hanging the guitar

It's a Gretsch thing.
How do you guys deal with cases? I’ve got so many hard cases and they’re overflowing out of the closet in my spare bedroom. Do people rent storage units just for cases or something?
>>127589031I stand them on end against the length of a wall in my guitar room.
Why do you need so many?
>>127588998If racism was a guitar
I don't
I do. What now?
Newbie acoustic guy here from last thread. I figured out the major scale for now, why are guitarists obsessed with the pentatonic scales?
someone should make a guitar where you can hotswap pickups. no more soldering.

>>127589369The only exception to the Fender side are masculine white men playing Telecasters.
Made up a practice schedule. I also use a rng generator to see which instrument I start with. I think that makes it more fun. The jam sessions for piano and guitar suck for now. I can still only do notes on guitar so sometimes it just feels like I'm playing bass still. Im super stiff when playing but if I try and get "loose" I'm sloppy. Lots of work to be done
>>127589369i felt like this needed an update. there's more than just fender v gibson these days so we'll use traditionalist vs modern
>>127589636very nice i like the effort you put into this. i hope it works out well for you
>>127589655terrible
>>1275896364 hour practice a day?May I ask what you're practicing for? Especially with 4 different instruments
>>127589655too messy, keep trying
>>127589667Thanks I just got done filling the bottom board there with goals I have musically for 25-26. If I put real effort into this hobby it kinda responds back. So I really just want to see how far I can take myself.>>127589704No i have 3. Bass, piano and guitar. The numbers are the order I do things. So I start with 15 minutes of scales, then I play songs i know for 15, do book work for 15 then I jam. For jamming I'll either use a YouTube video backing track or I'll turn on my drum machine. So its 3 hours but I don't do it all at 3 at once. I will do 1 hour at a time though.
Wish I had the cash to refret my LP.
he should've went with the bolt on
Dime Bag said he didn't practice. Because his gigs were enough.
>>127589794and now he's deadcoincidence?
>>127589794Any famous guitarist who is actually skilled that says he doesn't practice is just full of shit. You can tell when someone doesn't practice, like Kirk who fumbles every solo he plays live.

honestly getting tired of ebony boards, they look crusty and dusty. just give me rosewood
>https://theguitarinstitute.co/pages/progressionsdeal#purchaseAnyone have experience with these books? I'm wondering if I should get them if they're good.I also am still pretty new to guitar so I'm not sure if a lot of information would go over my head at this point.
Murado fretboards combine the best qualities of rosewood and maple in one. They feel like rosewood and the grain looks awesome, but they patina with playing like maple, making the guitar yours.Murado for the win.

>>127590304Gonna let my kids jump on the bed >>127590308It was nice honestly, I could do it again but it wouldn’t be a Strat this time. I’d have a hard time selling now because I’ve narrowed my guitars down to ones I actually enjoy playing rather than just buying ones that were good deals or filled gaps in sounds I wanted. It’s definitely more than needed and full of redundancies but I don’t care, 20 years of playing I know what I like and these are what I like. I’d be content with just one Tele if I absolutely needed to narrow it down to one, but idk which Tele honestly >>127590313Ranked most played to least played but the white Tele is new so of course it’s going to get a #1 slot. Teles and the Fano are #1. Red Mustang is at the bottom simply because if I’m playing a Mustang I’d rather play the poopoo color one. Sentimentality wise the bottom left Strat is #1 though >>127590405Black Tele Deluxe (skills and flames optional)
Fender was so visionary. Hard to believe the Jaguar was released in 1962

>>127590313all shit
>>127588691Sounds like you have SPAS anon. The SP stands for shit plank. I’ve been there, but seriously, for your next guitar save up for something better than anything you’ve ever had. Having not just a decent or good guitar, but a very nice guitar that plays consistently after a proper setup is a huge motivator to play and progress. You won’t regret it if playing guitar is something you do as a primary hobby.

Best budget electric guitar for a noob? Thinking of yamaha pacifica or epiphone sg..It would be for metal / nu metal style music not the boomer shitAlso i dont know how to play acoustic or anything but i have decent music theory knowledge from producing on DAWs
>>127591207Why does it matter to you, sheriff?
>>127591235if it's for metal, then get something with humbuckers. that's really all that it takes.
>>127591287I see a lot of guitars with SSH how different is that to HH?

do we think it looks cool?
>>127591230Nice>>127591236Really just curiosity. My friend told me recently a relatively common gun he bought a few years ago has actually appreciated. It's a very strange concept to me that mass produced items can appreciate. Why don't the manufacturers just make more of them? I'm not a guitar collector. I've only ever owned at most 3 guitars (an acoustic, an electric and a bass). Vintage instruments I can understand, but recent guitars appreciating is crazy to me
>>127591398same problem as teles, the bottom space between neck and body is too big and unaesthetic
>>127591416They were two Eastman jazzboxes that I'd bought used. The price jumped up during covid and I sold them for a few hundred more.
saw a nice guitar on fb marketplace but it had a hole like this one on the top side. thought it was for making it electroacoustic, but seems this is more of a deliberate choice by luthiers. does this improve or worsen the sound?
>>127591500it lets the player hear the sound. acoustics sound different when you're in front of the sound hole vs behind the guitar
>>127591510stupid hole.
>>127591532fr. weakens the guitar and kills some of the bass frequencies
>>127591510wat. but you can hear the guitar while playing already anyway, a second question, this one more general. the same guitar from marketplace looks like this from behind. the wood markings seem to be symmetrical (and I know cheap guitars are made with single covers, while sole are made with halves glued together), but are the misaligned lines in the middle tell-tale clues of shoddy craftsmanship? or is this irrelevant when trying to find a good guitar?
>>127591451I've heard good things about Eastman. They have good ruthiers in the Orient
>>127591235Pacifica is gonna be better than any Epi in the same price range. All you really need is a bridge humbucker
>>127591636yeah but it's muffled compared to being in front of the sound hole. that guitar has had the heel asymmetrically carved for upper fret access im guessing. but otherwise yeah it's shoddy craftsmanship but doesn't damn the guitar to playing or sounding bad
>>127591652yes but find one used. they stopped using gotoh tuners and now use pingwells. i'm assuming it's an in house brand to save money
The truth is I liked it. There I said it.
MY FUCKING THUMB HURTS AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES EVERY TIME I PLAY BARRE CHORDSI don't have a strap but I swear it's the way I have the guitar - I'm right handed and have my guitar on my right leg when I'm sitting, the neck is slightly outward which I'm 90% sure is why my thumb ends up hurting.I think I might need to get a foot stool.
>>127591826Do you stretch or warm up at all?
> active pickups> no dedicated battery compartmentwhy are guitar manufacturer like this?
>>127589636Looks great! Only heads up is to be watch out for tendinitis (3 hours a day spread out should be fine, though). Injury is the mortal enemy of physical progress. And not to give you extra stuff to do, but have you considered adding drums to your instruments? That kind of rhythmic understanding will improve all the tonal instruments, and limb independence helps both keys and guitar. Just something to consider, since you have all this energy to practice and grow!
never using actives unless they have a passive switch.
>>127591884no
>>127591235Don't buy a cheap guitar that comes with a floyd rose because a cheap guitar with a floyd rose will have a shitty floyd rose that will not last long.Get a hard tail guitar if it is going to be a cheaper guitar because the bridge won't break and need to be replaced.
How are these compared to Strats?Like are they less comfy?
Does anybody have the pdf of the booklet mentioned by Scotty West ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTAND GUITAR
Trying to build a small repertoire of moveable chords for "any", or rather most, situations (composing, harmony, accompaniment) in any key.One voicing for each with root on 6th, 5th, and 4th string of the following:M, M7, 6, m, m7, m6, 7b5, 7, sus2, sus4Anything I am missing?
they are gay, right?
>>127592563> are they less comfyCompletely depends on what you prefer. Most PRS sit between Strat (thinner) and LP (thicker) necks.I think they are comfy, but most of them are painted finish, which I hate.
Did George Harrison prefer his Strat or his Tele?

>>127592648I feel kinda conflicted. I really like the strat, but from what I’ve seen and heard, the PRS has the sound I’m looking for.
>>127592753Just to clarify because of the pic, are we talking about PRS vs Fender?Or PRS SE vs. Fender Squier?
>>127592753Which Strat are you looking at? And more importantly, what amp are they running through?

>>127592804>>127592817I’ve got a little Squire strat. The PRS seems to have the tone I’m trying to go for. As for the amps, I’m not entirely sure.
Is there a noticeable difference in tone between different fretboard woods?
>>127589800lmao
wow very versatile pickups, nice clean tones, can definetly feel more string striking, almost like a nice strat tone
>>127592863A good amount of Squiers have lower output ceramic pickups compared to their alnico Fender counterparts. Also if you're looking at an HH PRS you should compare it to another HH.
>>127592898I’ve got some pretty hot vintage alnico’s, but they’re SSS.Idk I just probably need to roll with it and maybe I’ll end up with a cool tone close enough to what I’m trying for.I do tend to over think things.
>>127592919Late but you aren't overthinking it, HH and SSS are very different and you ought to have one of each. Whether that's a Strat/Gibson/Prs is up to you.
>>127590520honestly all of the fender style guitars just look old to me. like some shit rolling stones would play. no one uses those any more. people still use les pauls and the ibanez shape 7 string things, and in the 80s they used flying vs to shred but fender guitars just look old and forgotten
>>127593109What if I just got an HH pick guard for the strat?

>>127593189Just because thirdies have less options, doesn't mean you should limit yourself as well, if one-off items are expensive you can always sell it down the line, to me specifically.

>>127593865I mean classical fags to believe in a lot of snakeoil bullshit in general. Guitarists do as well, but not quite as much. There are multiple aspects to a guitar.Build quality, sound, features and playability mainly. Are expensive guitars good? Yes mostly, however there are serious diminishing returns.Sound is typically the first aspect to top out early. I'd say most professional guitarists will fail a blind study with guitar sounds after ~1000 dollar guitars, as long as they are the same general type. Anyone who thinks a 3000 or 4000 dollar guitar sounds generally better than a 1500 dollar guitar is retarded.Build quality is the one that will go the farthest up, but I'd say it stops getting better at ~3000 dollars.Until then you'll get more precise nut cuts, clean finish, better materials etc. and as a result easier setups, longer life etc. However one could argue that you can achieve many of those things by just taking a slightly cheaper guitar to a skilled tech/luthier.Anything above that you are now just paying for brand, name or specific looks, and nothing else.

He was given the Tele from Fender and only used it during the Get Back sessions and possibly a little while recording Abbey Road because he felt obliged to give it some use because it was a gift. He quickly gave the Tele to Delaney Bramlett and said it was the worst guitar he’d ever played. Delaney Bramlett used the Tele for the rest of his career until he sold it at auction where it was bought by George’s wife and restored back to original condition by Fender and it’s back in George’s estate.

hello fa/gg/s, sorry for the lengthy post i just thought i'd ask for some direction.i've been playing since i was like 14 (i'm 26) but i was always poor as dirt so i could never afford any equipment including guitars, until fairly recently that i now earn enough to save up for sumn nice. but since i never got to have new equipment in my mind, i don't really know what i should be looking for. i know i like the sound of strats a lot even though i still like the heavy sound of humbuckers, but that's just rough ideas and i'm not sure what alternatives and options i have. what should i try to pay attention to? i've seen many people doing the thing where they buy a great quality budget guitar and then upgrade the pickups, for example.in case it helps, i play lots of classic hard rock like zeppelin and deep purple but lately i've been a lot into math rock-ish stuff. not really into metal.
>>127595930just go to a store and play a bunch its the only way to figure out what youll like
friendship ended with korg pitchblack
When you're noodling on your own how do you know what'll work and sound good with other instruments?
>>127596138you don't. you can noodle to a looper pedal or a drone but you just don't know until you jam. especially true for bass, some of the corniest shit sounds really good in a band context
>>127591209https://staggmusic.com/en/products/view/30THLEGACYWH-30th-anniversary-legacy-series-electric-guitar/
Where should I put the looper on my chain?
>>127595930A great amp or profiler is the biggest jump you can make in terms of sound, aside from getting good. A plank feels like a plank, but it can be improved and set up. A great rig makes even the worst guitars sound fun.
>>127596438>A plank feels like a plank
>>127596654>travis bean custom broom
>>127596682jej
>>127595864>in case it helps, i play lots of classic hard rock like zeppelin and deep purple but lately i've been a lot into math rock-ish stuff. not really into metal.A Tele bridge pickup will do Zeppelin and math stuff extremely well. Highly reccomend one with a series mod, the Player II modified comes with it stock but it's a pretty easy mod to do on anything if you know what your doing.
>>127596324Thanks
>>127594026Must be nice being NEET.
>>127596900NTA but I'm currently a NEETIt's quite nice, hope to make it on crypto this run so I don't have to get a job.
>>127596900I'm not a neet I just have an insanely lucky living situation where I dont pay rent for my apartment just utilities and I'm also paid to be there.
My Epiphone Les Paul has hairline cracks in the finish going down from both sides of the nut. Online conversations only say to either "not buy it" of used guitars, "return to the factory" of new guitars, and "epi not worth getting fixed at a luthier" What am I supposed to do with an old guitar that doesn't have warranty? Have some guy look at it quickly and diagnose it as not worth repairing? Just keep playing it until it potentially breaks when restringing?
>>127597113If you take it to a good luth and are willing to pay, they will fix it. It isn't really worth the cost to fix unless it's got some sentimental value to you.
>>127597113pic? they finish them with everything in place and the wood either shrunk around the nut or the nut took a hit and cracked the finish. i wouldn't worry about it depending on how the crack actually looks
>>127597113>hairline cracks in the finish going down from both sides of the nutnot an issue unless the wood is also cracked underneath (its probably not) but have someone look it over
I refuse to tap my foot I will practice metronome and internalize time instead.
>>127597202>>127597212>>127597239This is definitely a goner fml.It didn't look this bad with my eyes but I had the harshest and brightest right up to it so it could be seen for sure.
>>127597348it's easily fixable but the shape is a bit concerning. i'd play it til it breaks
>>127597348yeah thats a bit rough
>>127596654Is there any way to play that thing sitting down?
>>127597348>gibson style neck cracks even when not dropped
>>127597444yeah that's what happens when you finish the neck after it's fully assembled. don't look up rickenbacker fret finish chipping if you're squeamish
>>127596784How's a Roland Cube?
>>127597348I've never seen one do that before, wow.
>>127597520Which one? The 1x8 ones are kinda weak even for home use, the 1x12 ones are okay. There's alot of solid states competing in that same price point.
>>127588564Why do people hate on positive grid products? I almost bought a spark 2 earlier but I remember an anon losing his shit about them a few threads back
more like negative grid heh
>smart amp
more like GRID positive
>>127597844I haven't heard anything bad about the Spark other than the audio channel can be glitchy.

Can I connect a headphone amp to a looper pedal with just the right cable? It should be the same signal, right?
What guitar would you guys recommend for somebody with an insatiable thirst for erotic pleasure, and doesn't care where he gets it? Something that signals my incredible thirst.
Uh, you guys seein' this?
>made offer for something on reverb >guy accepted it>can't remove it from my cart I was only trying to see if I could use Affirm for no money down but it said 200 so now I dont want it. I guess I'll wait 5 days

>>127598199Wang-caster or maybe Prince's guitar?
>>127598223
>>127589813practicing is just playing. not everyone is a terminal retard who never 'gets it' and has to study theory and use tabs to playsome people learn to play guitar then play guitarDo you 'practice' speaking english or breathing?
>>1275902638/10 get rid of the tort guard on that strat it's fucking ugly
>>127598199For me it's the Gibson SG. It's about how sexual the performance/performer is. Kissing dudes on stage, willing to do anything for the muse. Most of you wouldn't get it.
>>127598223You guys need much better relationships with finances
>>127598223just rip the bandaid off and tell him dude. just sitting on your hands is infinitely worse for both parties involved
>>127598301That poster wasn't me.
https://youtube.com/shorts/bIE6nXt66kgNever seen a trem like this one before, sounds very nice though.
>>127598295What should it be instead? Originally it was black.
>>127598232>>127598325>>127598336I messaged him. I always check for return policy but for some reason I didnt this time. I would've never bought if I had checked.
>>127598604it sucks but believe me he will be much happier that you let him know.
>>127598633and on the plus side if he takes it poorly then you definitely won't feel bad about it. some people are just terrible people and there's nothing you can do for them
>>127598571>most handsome offset player
