Is there any band in history that has changed all of their members?
>>
>>127599320
Ian Paice has always been there
>>
Axl Rose and his random crew around 2009 or something
>>
>>127599320
The Sugababes
>>
Foreigner. For years it was just Mick Jones left with a bunch of hired guns but now it really is just an official cover band.

iirc Cheap Trick actually pulled out of a run of shows with them a few years ago upon finding out that Jones wasn't planning on touring.
>>
>>127599320
Yes quite a few

Lynyrd Skynyrd are still active even though all of the original members are dead
>>
>>127599320
napalm death
>>
>>127599320
Megadeth besides Dave Mustaine i think
>>
In Flames
Sepultura
>>
>>127599382
Megadeth is kinda Mustaine solo pretty much, just like Foo Fighters is Dave Grohl's
>>
Soft machine. Multiple times even. Generations of musicians. Many who have never played with someone who ever played with an original member
>>
>>127599320
the metal band Riot has zero original members, I think they tour around as Riot V now
>>
>>127599482
Yeah, Mark Reale's father gave the surviving guys (three of the late '80s Thundersteel era of the band) his blessing to continue, but asked them to change their name slightly, hence Riot V. They were still billed as "Riot" in Japan for a while afterwards though because apparently they still owed their label a few more albums.
>>
Opeth
Mikael was actually not the original member but everyone except him left after 2 years
>>
In such a situation they should be forced to change the band name
>>
>>127599482
Quiet Riot as well
>>
Sepultura kind of. The bassist is considered to be a member since the beginning, BUT he was such a shitty bassist he never actually recorded anything with the band until almost 10 years after the band formed.
>>
Napalm Death iirc only had one original member left when they started recording their first album, and by the time they finished the entire band had changed except the drummer (who was not an original member). Pretty sure they did another full rotation of members after that as well.
>>
>>127599370
How the hell all original members are dead? There were so many.
>>
>>127599546
Most of them died in a plane crash
>>
The Little River Band, which is a bit of a weird one. Basically, a couple of the guys from the later '80s lineups that no one cared about bought the rights to the name in the early 2000s from the original Australian guys when it was worthless and continued to tour on it. When the original Aussies discovered they'd make a huge fuckup years later, they tried to sue over it and lost. The current band have recorded new material under the LRB name and their touring setlist now is almost entirely comprised of stuff from the original '70s lineup.
>>
>>127599546
There were enough to fill a Convair CV-240
>>
Kansas
Yes
Heart
Thin Lizzy
Reo Soeedwagon
Renaissance
GWAR
Foreigner
>>
La Sonora Matancera has been active for more than one hundred years, of course there are no original members left.
>>
There were several version of The Sweet that had the rights to play under the name in different territories. The one that plays in the US, was led by the original bassist Steve Priest, but the nobodies there kept it going even after Priest died. Their own stuff is fucking awful.

Squeeze by the Velvet Underground had no original members only replacement member Doug Yule and oddly with Ian Paice on drums
>>
>>127599320
Jon Lord looking sick af there
>>
>>127599320
I'll go one better, there have been multiple different versions of the band Gong, many existing at the same time.
>>
>>127599320
Savatage
>>
>>127599683
Fucking hell lol
>>
How about one where all the original members make their own tribute band? That would be funny
>>
Tangerine Dream is still continuing with a member who joined in 2004
There's also a no originals Iron Butterfly out there but officially I think they are disavowed https://ironbutterfly.com/
>>
>>127599969
that has happened check out Luicidal (Suicidal Tendencies) From the Jam (the Jam) 21st Century Schizoid Band (king crimson) Venom Inc (Venom) ELO Part II (Elo) and more
>>
>>127599474
Soft Machine died after Wyatt left
Ratledge was a retarded smug dipshit who ruined his own band out of spite for his more charismatic and creative bandmate
>>
>>127599474
based. Best iteration was after Ratledge left.

ok but fifth and six are kino
>>
>>127599320
in flames has no original members
>>
>>127599320
Sepultura? I think Andreas Kisser retired. Aside from that he wasnt even their original guitarist
>>
>>127600396
Didn't ELO have two? Part II and The Orchestra.
>>
akb48
>>
>>127599683
yeah. I saw them on a tour - I think when Priest was still alive.
of course without Connolly it seemed it was good enough to have even seen them at all
>>
>>127599683
>>127601364
I've seen the Andy Scott version that tours Europe and Australia, which was him and a few of the guys from the NWOBHM band Praying Mantis. Good show, though they came out to talk to people afterwards - the Praying Mantis guys were all cool but Scott was a grouchy old cunt who was being a rude dickhead to everyone.
>>
>>127599320
Many
>>
>>127601364
>>127601405
I think I asked on the board in 2023 if it was worth seeing the Sweet. I passed. Not sure which version was touring usa that summer.
>>
>>127600454
The real death blow to Soft Machine wasn't the departure of Wyatt, but the departure of Hopper. As long as Hopper was in the band, SM maintained a real sense of danger, threatening to subvert/explode/reconfigure even the "straightest" of jazz.
>>
>>127601267
True but Kisser improved Sepultura so much that I tend to forget he wasn't an original member
>>
>>127601850
Would've been what was originally the Steve Priest version, they have the rights to play and record under the Sweet name in the US, Canada and South America while Scott's version have it for Europe and Australia/New Zealand.
>>
>>127602129
I'm happy I stayed home then. I have an Andy Scott solo single and it's weirdly in more of a euro disco style https://youtu.be/Fp_XxN-yh8Y A few rockers did this really briefly like Brian Auger had one too.
>>
https://youtu.be/iMkHlfWvrkc Andy scott A Side to weird synth pop single
>>
>>127599683
>>127599881
There have also been 2 versions of Queensryche though the first one still has 2 original members

Mick Fleetwood once hired a bunch of studio musicians to replace everyone in Fleetwood Mac

He sent them out on tour as Fleetwood Mac then when the real members of Fleetwood Mac found out Mick pretended he knew nothing about it

The guys he hired later started their own band and had a hit single called "Why Did You Do It?" which was all about Mick Fleetwood being a lying piece of shit

Mick still pretends he knows nothing about it, pretty funny story

>>
The current iteration of Yes only features Steve Howe, who only joined on the third album. He has the rights to the name, I think, so Jon Anderson , who is an original member, has had to tour playing Yes songs under other band names.
>>
A lot of old vocal groups from the 30s and 40s continue to tour with members who are generations removed from the original lineup.
>>
>>127604088
yeah Jon currently plays with the Band Geeks, who do the songs way more justice than the current official Yes. he's still got the voice of an angel and the band captures the 70s sound so well

>he's still got the voice of an angel
LOL and Ian Anderson sounds like he's suffocating nowadays.
>>
>>127605412
lmao guy's like 80, obviously his voice is not the same but it's aged unbelievably well compared to someone like Ian
>>
>>127605412
his voice has been that way forever now, I still enjoyed the zealot gene, might be "their" best album since songs from the wood
>>

Made In Japan: Child In Time.
Amazing.
>>
>>127605581
The original version on In Rock is pretty good too
>>
LA Guns

>>
>>127605174
Is that more members than Santana's band?
>>
>>127603854
>>127604145
The difference with Gong is that they weren't going around sueing eachother, people were encouraged to start their own version of the band
>>
>>127605174
>guy's name is "chocolate"
lel
>>
Stratovarius has had zero original members since 2008 if you count Tolkki as an original member and since 1995 if you don't.

All of the original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd are now deceased.

The band is still touring.
>>
>>127610721
to be fair they are easily the best lynyrd skynyrd tribute band
>>
>>127610721
based zombies
>>
>>127599604
