>Monstercat
What year is this? 2013?

How are they still relevant?
>>
>>127610822
They aren't. It's nostalgic now.

Monstercat was always a production music service. It just happened to blow up because it was electronic music. They got big names to produce some singles under their label for marketing and so people could have a licensed song by a well-known artist
>>
>>127610699
there were some pretty good ones but overall music just felt directionless and dithering, afraid to make a "statement" or have a vision outside of "let's do a track in this genre"
>>
>>127611610
>afraid to make a "statement"
it's electronic music dude, lol. relax.
>>
monstercat just reminds of when rocket league was at its peak, i used to be addicted to that game

vast majority of popular music is actually "saying" something. monstercat music feels like it isn't really saying much. it's the musical equivalent of popcorn. like drinking tap water.
>>
>>127612458
show me some examples of electronic music that is saying something you fucking dork. i wasnt talking about popular music, i was talking about this genre you disingenuous mong.
>>
>>127612420
yeah he's made some smash hits that I like.
>>127612486
using the above example of martin garrix, he has awesome tracks like animals that are really unique, collabs with artists like bebe rexha with best-in-class performances and well written lyrics. I "like" a lot of songs and artists on monstercat, but I recognize that they just don't reach the level of Garrix or Skrillex. maybe it's just luck that some artists come up with the memorable tunes. in any case, they must be better men.

fuck, monstercat takes me back to my teenage brostep era in the early 2010s
