this album is goddamn HEAT straight up fireprobably the best boomer rock album ever, sounds like a doped up party at the strip club
>>127610366>boomer>1994Fire.Silvergun Superman goated
>>127610431It's an euphemism.
>>127610366Pure butt rock
Sell me down the riverhttps://youtu.be/9OJf8w4fCw0?si=itJRHcD4A4MoZvet
>>127610366Still Remains is one of the best songs of the 90s.
Still Remains and Silvergun Superman are the best songs
Its a masterpiece. Interstate love song is the best song ever. Robert Deleo is the best bassist, and Scott Weiland was the best frontman.
>>127612914Based. Robert's work in Big Empty is mind blowing.
>>127613003NTA but Big Empty is an incredible track. I still prefer Core to this record but the peak that is Big Empty might not be surpassed on Core, although Plush and Creep give it a run for its money. Now that I think about it Big Empty is kind of like Plush and Creep combined.
>>127610366the cover always makes me think of Jim O'Rourke
Purple is great but the best STP album is still Core for it's immaculate vibe
>>127614898>>127615089Plush is the best 'grunge' song.
i like interstate love song, don't know why but i do
>>127610366I remember when I bought that in the 90s, I probably still have the casette somewhere. It was only cool as an exotic sort of alt-rock. Gimmicky but they made it work. Never felt the impulse to relisten since then, though
>>127610511get off of 4chan and live in the real world for a while
STP were the first really successful butt rock band, and back in the 90's they got shit on in much the same way as Creed and Nickelback would a few years later. Not that I agreed with it, I like STP and Creed. Not really a big Nickelback fan but they do their thing and I've got nothing against them.
>>127615966why did the term butt rock originate? is it just people calling it ass or is there something im not getting
>>127610366THE SECOND ALBUM*bwah* *bwah*TWELVE GRACIOUS MELODIES>>127612914>>127615089Their best is Tiny Music. Purple is top 3 though, easily
>>127615966I wouldn't say they were buttrock themselves, but since their sound was the least original among Seattle bands, they became like a useful synthesis for buttrock to copy.STP always sounded like a mix between Cobain raspy vocals, Vedder yarl and the fashionable hybrid rock style of grunge.>>127616033Buttrock was called that way because all the bands sounded the same: some whiny raspy voice singing the most low-effort lyrics about some ordinary life problems, while a few basic chord progressions played. And they looked like they took themselves so seriously for doing that. It was like someone applied AI to grunge and the result was this most averaged slop.So generic sounding anyone could have pooped it out
>>127615966STP were never called buttrock and would never be classified as such by someone who's ever read one of their lyrics and have an above average IQ.>>127616033Pic related
>>127616033I figured its cuz the radio stations that played em would play nothing, BUT ROCK!!!!!!
>>127610366STP created the best driving music. Put the cd in player, couple of cones (allegedly) and foot to the floor. Oldfag here, I miss the 90's.
>>127610366Fags just copied Smashing Pumpkins art style for the cover, music is the same cringe as all the other grunge bands from that time. It was cool to be a loser back then
Tiny Music is the best album to get high off narcotics to
Core to Shangri-La Dee Da is an all-time great album run and easily mogs all the big grunge meme bands and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
>>127617976Yes except for Facelift - Black Gives Way to Blue
>>127610366>sounds like a doped up party at the strip clubI love strip clubs and this made me excited to listen. Tragically, it didn't remind me of strip clubs.
>>127616033Bert Coltrane
>>127617446They probably copied Nirvana, as the Nevermind baby cover became influential. Then Smashing Pumpkins came out with Siamese featuring two kids on the cover. But Nirvana also probably took inspiration from Van Halen's cover with the baby smoking. Except they put a different spin with the baby chasing the dolla
>>127617446>>127619357Actually the picture on the cover was on a baggie of pure china white Heroin Scott bought in NYC. It was when he just started using.
sounds like a MAGA rally
>>127619427You know they just invent any story on the spot for shits'n'giggles right
>>127617446>Purple Release Date>7 June 1994>Mellon Collie Release Date>23 October 1995Looks like the Pumpkins ripped off STP actuallyI guess it's over for you
>>127620063Billy did like the Pilots>It was STP's 3rd album that had got me hooked, a wizardly mix of glam and post-punk, and I confessed to Scott, as well as the band many times, how wrong I'd been in assessing their native brilliance. And like Bowie can and does, it was Scott's phrasing that pushed his music into a unique, and hard to pin down, aesthetic sonicsphere.>Lastly, I'd like to share a thought which though clumsy, I hope would please Scott In Hominum. And that is if you asked me who I truly believed were the great voices of our generation, I'd say it were he, Layne, and Kurt.
>>127618006Great run but just not my cup of tea and with how bleak most of their music is
>>127620125I suppose youre right
