any other stoner rock band worth listening to other than Kyuss?
>>127683255*cough*
>>127683255>>127683382ThreadThat said, I liked John Garcia's spinoff bands

>>127683255CLUTCH>>127683440Garcia's bands are great and underrated, especially Hermano.
>>127683852Slo Burn has the 4 song EP and an unreleased 5 track demo i found online somewhere. you can hear the tape hiss but those 5 songs are really good. All These Walls actually started here, though in a different form from what he released in his 2014 solo album.Unida is good too.
>>127683852>CLUTCHThis. In my stoner phase 20 yearss ago, I'd have shat out a list as long as my arm in reply, but Kyuss and Clutch are literally the only two that have stood the test of time and remain in my collection.
>>127683978Oh no that's a lie, I've still got a few Boris albums too.
>>127683852>HermanoAdmittedly these were good. So were Yawning Man and some of Brant Bjork's solo shit.
>>127683255monster magnet's first three albums
>>127683978>>127683990what about Sleep?
>>127684050Oh shit, I forgot about Superjudge. Fucking awesome album, that I still listen to.>>127684089I had some of their stuff, I was never a regular listener though. They just didn't really grab me, even back then.
>>127683255the mongoose flies
>>127684121https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SeQnoRE1f8one of my favorites of theirs from that album.also, love the Howlin' Wolf cover from the same album:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUf8LfM9wqc
>>127683255https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZlgBRokTCg
>>127684194Hell yeah, was my first ever stoner album I bought after a friend recommended it. Brings back so many memories for me. BB is the perfect wind-down song.
>>127684301these two are also essential:https://monstermagnetofficial.bandcamp.com/album/spine-of-godhttps://monstermagnetofficial.bandcamp.com/album/tab
Yawning Man, lad
>>127683382as entry level as it is, i wish more stoner albums were produced like this album. even if the song quality is all over the place, they nailed the production
People rate the Desert Sessions Volume 1&2 highly but I don’t care for it personally

anyone got the stoner rock / doom metal venn diagram?
Playlist I made https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0qSHvToKj78X9LDaQIejId?si=hxhpwy_GQk-U0-mCBr3Now&pi=wK5SjjTTRJewt
lot of good shit already mentioned, first slomosa album was pretty goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0EIjJdk5TE
QOTSA's debut is bonna fide stoner
>>127683255WindhandBorisOrange GoblinAlunah
>>127683255Stoner. It's a trio with Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork, both original Kyuss members. Totally... is one of my favorite albums
>>127683922"July" is one of the best John Garcia songs easily
>>127683255Elder, although their latest albums are more prog than stoner.
>>127683255Few of my favourite (active) bands:UfomammutColour HazeDaevarElephant TreeGrottoGnomeDomkraft

All Them Witches is easily one of the most overlooked modern rock bands, I'd say they're almost as good as Kyusshttps://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6ogdCG3tAWi6kNFyvYb7ez4trw8xkUFV&si=R4Vd_bBC00_KGtUn

>>127691661seconding thisMessa are the current best runner-up
>>127683255I don't get how a loud and abrasive as fuck form of rock got the label "stoner"
The Melvin's count.
>>127683255dozer was alright
>>127692018>Slomosasurreal to see a band from my hometown "making it" internationally. music is alright, but the singer cant sing for shit.
>>127694838having a chick on bass makes up for shit singing
>>127691153In my eyes this is Kyuss with Josh on vocals.
>>127694838I saw them open for helmet and I was super impressed. Although its definitely a not there for the singer, almost headless band situation. They must stand out compared to other Norwegian bands
the sleeps
>>127694882That's why it's good
i still like the first monster magnet album
>>127694699The logic I heard is as if both the people playing and listening are so numb from weed that they need something extra heavy for it to sound 'regular', which is a fun enough explanation for me(The more accurate but less fun explanation is that it was initially made for drug-fueled parties in bumfuck nowhere, so I guess they needed something harder to fight the boredom)>>127692198Seconding ATW
>>127691052weird how this was their weed album. then again, pavement's sound is a bit too harsh to be a dude weed band imo
>>127683255
>>127694699Because you have to be high to want to listen to music that heavy.
>>127694699A lot of it is slow and repetitive, perfect for vegging out on the couch with
graduate to funeral doomhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVGYtq-M1Ps
>>127696386sounds too gay and pretentious
>>127696386Cringe modern metal sound, no
>>127695559Norwegian rock has been in a dire state for a very long time. Black metal bands, Kvelertak and Turbonegro are basically the only ones that can still draw an audience internationally. >>127694862Marie is cool. She used to play in an all-girl pop rock cult band for many years prior to Slomosa, completely different types of music.
>>127698044Motorpsycho is still going strong (their latest album is a banger), but they don't really have a big following outside of a few European countries.
>>127692018idk if royal blood is really stoner rock, it's pretty polished pop rock even though they have some nice low riffs
>>127683255>any other stoner rock band worth listening to other than Kyuss?Yes.
>>127698044I had no idea Turbonegro was Norwegian. I hear their big song at the bar sometimes
>>127699911Rendezvous with Anus?
>>127690275I saw these guys in Dublin they fucking slapped hard
>>127696386I don't get funeral doom. goes against the whole point of doom which is groovy blues riffs. Shit's boring
Check these guys out.
Toba Trance is the definitive stoner rock album
stoner metal ebbs and flows in New Orleans, and there's always ten derivative snorefests for every one band that actually seems to give a shit about actually being good. Right now Totem is really carrying the true stoner riff sound forward, and Mars is always around with the classic riffs and chorus vocal effects, but bands like Thou and Fauns are really pushing the doomier stuff. Totem, New Orleans: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmV5qprOcPD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==Mars, New Orleans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1LkshyfJwEFauns, New Orleans:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cmppvj0PNADoes YOUR city have a LOT of stoner metal, also??
>>127700506you should make a playlist for these
>>127694699It was created by stoners who spread it throughout stoner culture, so it got that name. Also the sound does mesh really well with being high.
>>127683255Sons of Kyuss.
Shoutout to Fuzz Manta, one of my favorite obscure bands. They're not quite on Kyuss' level, but they do have a pretty catchy "Janis meets early Sabbath" approach to Stoner
>OH SUN-SHINE
Los Natas
>>127683255Fu Manchu
>>127683255no. the genre name should reveal that it's going to be lazy 99% of the timeOnly dropping this one since they're the closest thing to a good band we have in our whole state
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y13MTe4hcwM
this track is pretty coolhttps://youtu.be/_OWwgGYhsBs?feature=shared
>>127696187They're pretty faggy
>>127683255name a stoner rock band that's straight edge
>>127710295boris. Japanese people don't like weed. They think it's degenerate and inferior like black and brown people
