That said, I liked John Garcia's spinoff bands

Garcia's bands are great and underrated, especially Hermano.
>>
>>127683852
Slo Burn has the 4 song EP and an unreleased 5 track demo i found online somewhere. you can hear the tape hiss but those 5 songs are really good. All These Walls actually started here, though in a different form from what he released in his 2014 solo album.

Unida is good too.

>CLUTCH

This.

In my stoner phase 20 yearss ago, I'd have shat out a list as long as my arm in reply, but Kyuss and Clutch are literally the only two that have stood the test of time and remain in my collection.
>>
>>127683978
Oh no that's a lie, I've still got a few Boris albums too.
>>
>>127683852
>Hermano
Admittedly these were good. So were Yawning Man and some of Brant Bjork's solo shit.
>>
>>127683255
monster magnet's first three albums

what about Sleep?
>>
>>127684050
Oh shit, I forgot about Superjudge. Fucking awesome album, that I still listen to.

>>127684089
I had some of their stuff, I was never a regular listener though. They just didn't really grab me, even back then.

Hell yeah, was my first ever stoner album I bought after a friend recommended it. Brings back so many memories for me. BB is the perfect wind-down song.

these two are also essential:

Yawning Man, lad

as entry level as it is, i wish more stoner albums were produced like this album. even if the song quality is all over the place, they nailed the production

People rate the Desert Sessions Volume 1&2 highly but I don’t care for it personally

Boris

Alunah

Stoner. It's a trio with Nick Oliveri and Brant Bjork, both original Kyuss members.

Totally... is one of my favorite albums

"July" is one of the best John Garcia songs easily

Few of my favourite (active) bands:
Ufomammut
Colour Haze
Daevar
Elephant Tree
Grotto
Gnome
Domkraft
>>
Slomosa
Mondo Generator
Royal Blood
>>
All Them Witches is easily one of the most overlooked modern rock bands, I'd say they're almost as good as Kyuss

surreal to see a band from my hometown "making it" internationally. music is alright, but the singer cant sing for shit.
>>
>>127694838
having a chick on bass makes up for shit singing
>>
>>127691153
In my eyes this is Kyuss with Josh on vocals.
>>
>>127694838
I saw them open for helmet and I was super impressed. Although its definitely a not there for the singer, almost headless band situation. They must stand out compared to other Norwegian bands

The logic I heard is as if both the people playing and listening are so numb from weed that they need something extra heavy for it to sound 'regular', which is a fun enough explanation for me
(The more accurate but less fun explanation is that it was initially made for drug-fueled parties in bumfuck nowhere, so I guess they needed something harder to fight the boredom)

>>127692198
Seconding ATW
>>
>>127691052
weird how this was their weed album. then again, pavement's sound is a bit too harsh to be a dude weed band imo

Norwegian rock has been in a dire state for a very long time. Black metal bands, Kvelertak and Turbonegro are basically the only ones that can still draw an audience internationally.
>>127694862
Marie is cool. She used to play in an all-girl pop rock cult band for many years prior to Slomosa, completely different types of music.
>>
>>127698044
Motorpsycho is still going strong (their latest album is a banger), but they don't really have a big following outside of a few European countries.
>>
>>127692018
idk if royal blood is really stoner rock, it's pretty polished pop rock even though they have some nice low riffs
>>
>>127683255

Yes.

Toba Trance is the definitive stoner rock album
>>
stoner metal ebbs and flows in New Orleans, and there's always ten derivative snorefests for every one band that actually seems to give a shit about actually being good. Right now Totem is really carrying the true stoner riff sound forward, and Mars is always around with the classic riffs and chorus vocal effects, but bands like Thou and Fauns are really pushing the doomier stuff.

Mars, New Orleans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1LkshyfJwE

Fauns, New Orleans:

Does YOUR city have a LOT of stoner metal, also??
>>
>>127700506
you should make a playlist for these

It was created by stoners who spread it throughout stoner culture, so it got that name. Also the sound does mesh really well with being high.

Shoutout to Fuzz Manta, one of my favorite obscure bands. They're not quite on Kyuss' level, but they do have a pretty catchy "Janis meets early Sabbath" approach to Stoner

boris. Japanese people don't like weed. They think it's degenerate and inferior like black and brown people
