The main problem with Everybody Hurts is that it's just not true at all, some people are complete sociopaths that feel no empathy for others, they would sooner kill someone than ever shed a tear, this website for instance is full of those types.
The main problem with Everybody Hurts is that it’s a gay song with sappy lyrics built around an irritatingly predictable and cliched chord sequence, sticking out like a sore thumb on an otherwise decent album.
Actually the problem with Everybody Hurts is that it's an overly cheesy pop song that drags on and interrupts the flow of the album. Even The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite has those weird kinds of REM lyrics they're famous for, this one's just straightforward as fuck without much going on. The band itself grew to dislike it almost immediately after the album released.
