I don't like this faggot, he's super overrated.
Everything he makes feels post-ironic and intentionally weird in a forced, millennial-humor kind of way. And the reason I hate his music is because I can actually hear glimpses of something great; sometimes he comes up with strong melodies or interesting lyrics.... but then he immediately ruins the song with le wacky production choices or awkward chord progressions, just to make the track sound more "alternative" or "experimental" for the hipster audience. He comes from a generation of musicians that never allowed themselves to be honest or to appreciate real beauty. Instead, everything is a meta-deconstruction of something else, and that’s why their music is always derivative and uninspired

Overall pretty strong 7/10 record. Mixing turned out far better than I expected given the title track mix. Hope Ariel decides to tour again to support the record cause I'd totally buy a vinyl of this and the only Ariel record I personally own is Oddities Volume 1.

He reviewed Dedicated to Bobby Jameson (he gave it an 8) but that was before the Jan 6 thing so its hard to say. Ariel is a major enough artist that he should review it regardless of politics but I cant imagine him giving thr new record anything more than a 6. I love it :D its probably less experimental than his other albums, but like almost every song has nice tones and sounds and melodies, and theres lots variety between meaningful and silly stuff. I think 'Why' is the only one i'd maybe skip, and only cause i just don't like that style much.

Also icl i'm braindead and i like to watch reactions and see reviews when I really like an album, but there's actually nothingg :< i didn't realise he was entirely rejected by the industry to this extent. Only thing i found is a retarded article from my country talking about politics disguised as a review lol. Wish i lived near Ariel to go to his listening party

Mostly singles and other things he posted other versions of on substack years ago. Production is stale throughout the whole album, never been a strong singer but his delivery is exceptionally low effort this time around, his fat whiny jew nature has started to annoy me, overall 5/10. I can't tell if the novelty of hypnogogic pop wore off on me and that's why I feel so indifferent to this album or if it's just mediocre. In some ways mediocrity is an essential part of hypnogogic pop. Either way I like it even less than Archevil despite the songs at their core being better. It sounds constipated.
