I liked it at the time but definitely considered it a downgrade. /mu/ seemed to think the same thing until Pitchfork and the melon's reviews came out, all the sudden it was dogshit. All that being said, it aged well and I like it even more now. Painting With on the other hand is still their worst album.
>>127716777People complained about this album having too many layers of sound at once but I think that just makes it a grower, I'm guessing this is why it's looked on more fondly now than at release. Some of the live versions of the songs sound really good though so it might have been messed up in the studio and I'm just coping. I fucking love Amanita, Moonjock, Applesauce, Wide Eyed, Rosie Oh, and New Town Burnout, those are all top tier anco songs. The only kinda weak song is Father Time.
