Why is In the Court of the Crimson King the essential King Crimson and/or /mu/ prog album when Red is clearly better?
>>127722595It has more iconic cover
The former is more commercially viable, the later not so much. Not everyone has the attention span to wait for the drums to kick in on Starless.
>>127722605This but its also the entry level album that just about anyone can get into with relative ease where as their other albums tend to filter normoids. And back then (2007-2009) during the hipster era prog was still somewhat niche. Still Red was always seen as the second most popular and by the time the early 2010s rolled around many /mu/ users considered it their best and its popularity eclipsed ITCOTCK
Because it's better. Red might be their 2nd best though
>>127722595Red was my fav KC album for years, now its top 2, before larks>>127722605Red has a more kino cover
>>127722595It's not though.
>>127722953>Red has a more kino coverShit taste spotted.
In a historical lens, ITCOTCK is by far their biggest album. It did so many things nobody else had ever done before. Red built on what has already been done by others and themselves. If you're asking what album is the most enjoyable to listen to, ITCOTCK isn't even in the top 50% of King Crimson albums.
>>127722595because it was a really incredible album and at the same time, it started it all
>>127722595>Providence
>>127722595Red is carried by Starless
>>127722595Red sounds like the spirit of a bunch of old men trying to sound like they are still relevant by hopping on trends to me
>>127729887What trends? What else sounds like wetton era king crimson? I've been listening to prog for a long time and the only thing that comes close is camel as far as im aware and the wetton era sound predates their sound. Robert fripp was still in his 20s for that entire period too btw
LTIA is better than Red THOUGH
>>127730907they are both great>>127729887>hopping on trends to meno, not really
