Rediscovering metal and pic related are my favorites. Don't really have a particular style, just anything with grooves, cool lyrics and generally fast paced
These are the best metal albums. Theyre far better than any "real" metal that will be thrown at you itt

>>127724591heres some older metal recommendationsif you want something fast and powerful, check out exciter's (speed metal band) albums "heavy metal maniac", "violence and force" and "long live the loud", also check out satan's "court in the act", and if you want more then check out angel witch "angel witch" (self titled)if you want some fast power metal, check out helloween's "walls of jericho" and "keeper of seven keys part 1"or stratovarius "visions"i also recommend checking out the crossover thrash band municipal waste, especially "waste em all" debut album, its very short but great metal/hardcore punk blend
>>127724591>>127724744also i see you like black metal, if you havent heard the classic dissection "storm of the light's bane" album, you should
>>127724683I've listened to most of these actually. Never could get into SOAD besides Chop Suey but I've been thinking about diving into Primus recently
>>127724704>Mercyful Fate - Don't Break the OathTry as I might, I just can not get past King Diamond's voice. The instrumentals are great and I understand he and his bands are super influential but the way he sings is a hard sell for meWill check out the others, appreciate it
>>127724759>black metalI've been trying to get into it more. I liked some Venom songs back in the day which made me try out Bathory. The lo fi thrash aspect was really neat. Still trying to find my niche in the second wave stuff though. Every so often I'll try a few Darkthrone or Carpathian Forest songs and I'm slowly 'getting' it. I had high hopes for Ulver but they seem a little too folky for my tastes; I want blast beats and screaming that sounds like it was recorded on a toaster.
>>127724966well theres a few different subgenressymphonic black metal: regular bm but with a few extra instruments like keyboards and violin (emperor, dimmu borgir, cradle of filth)atmospheric/ambient black metal: black metal with ambient influence (burzum, ulver, caladan brood)depressive black metal: similar to atmospheric but with a much more depressed tone, with lyrics about self loathing and suicide (shining, xasthur, leviathan)folk black metal: black metal with folk influence (nokturnal mortum, moonsorrow, windir)the one i think you will like the most is raw black metal which is just black metal but emphasis on low fidelity productiondefinitely check out dissection though, that said my personal favorite bm record is gris il etait une foret which is an atmospheric/depressive bm album with very loud screaming vocalsslightly more low fidelity is something like nyktalgia which is also atmospheric/depressive
>>127724825Tool - UndertowMetallica - Hardwired to Self DestructKornGatecreeper - DesertedRage Against the Machine - The Battle of Los Angeles
>>127725393Haven't heard of Gatecreeper, death metal usually isn't my thing. Those Tool, Rage and Metallica albums are okay but I prefer others>KornSell me on these guys. All I know is Freak on a Leash and I've always put them in the 'funny nu metal' category of my mind
>>127724591>Tool>DeftonesTry out Mastodon. They are more sludgy than both above, but have some really grooving and technical segments. 3 vocalists helps too.Earlier in their discography is more heavy, so if you like that start at Remission and go forward. Later is more melodic, so start at Emperor of Sand and go backwards. I think their best is in the middle with Blood Mountain (heavy / technical) and Crack the Skye (progressive lengthy tracks like Tool).
>>127725507To me theyre one of the best of that early nu metal borderline funk metal sound. The original drummer had great groove when mixed with fieldys bass, and the guitarists knew less is more. A lot of the songs are just pure emotion. Their debut album is definitely the best of their career.
