tycho, com truise, xxyyxx, bibio, bonobo... an era gone by
>>127724832so fucking true, and yet I've never heard it or anything from Tycho in my life
>>127724856A few more years until this stuff gets its proper nostalgia moment
What else is classic algocore? Acid Rap, Plastic Love, Cigs After Sex... maybe those are too far afield.
>>127724856I'm genuinely curious in your thought process, how is Bibio similar to those other artists?
>>127724832This only got popular because it was inoffensive and had a reasonably aesthetic cover (for the time)
>>127724877I knew someone would point that outhonestly I haven't listened to any of those in a decade so I don't really remember much
>>127724881I remember it being fairly big with college bros who smoked weed. M83 too.

>>127724895All good! It's just that Bibio is kind of in a different league in my humble opinion. He's on Warp records, lives in a cabin in the woods, and plays primarily acoustic instruments. He's a great producer and knows his way around an MPC, but he's more about folktronica type stuff and using old analog gear + tape.
>>127724949he's done a lot more than just folktronica
>log into youtube circa 2020>see this
>>127724994Yep. He is a very versatile artist. He was there for the og UK dubstep scene, a song like "Fire Ant" is a testament to his ability as a producer. That element of his style is probably why he landed on Warp in the first place. But outside of some ambient/sound collage stuff, he has retreated to a more traditional folk style in recent years. Like I say, the guy can chop the fuck out of a sample on an MPC. But the last few proper releases have been very folky with mandolins, fiddles, cellos, etc.

>>127725046true but imo his dancier tracks do fit into the same aestethic as the other artists that were mentioned.
>>127725008Mediocre pop, japan
