there are certainly almost no popular bands.
Look at the Billboard 200 and see if you can find two (2) bands.

I met one guy, who was literaly drooling over FFDP, claiming they are his top band, next to Sabaton or what its called, while being loudly proud of being a metalhead. I never thought this people existed, thanks to him i now have a deeply rooted hatred for fans of these bands.
