Why is Ghost's first album so good but the rest of their discography is dogshit?
>>
>>127731034
1st album = proof of concept
rest of their discography = selling out
Not to shit on popular stuff, you do you, but they did sell out. I remember when they started big with that album, it was fresh, it was metal with popular music elements, it was cool, sounded like a revival of something. With the amount of merch they're selling you just know they sold their ass to the music industry, I constantly see normies sporting Ghost merch, again not to shit on anything pop anything, but they're doing it for the money now and it shows.
>>
>>127731034
>so good
It's alright but hardly exceptional in any category.
>>
The more they push forward, the more I'm solidified in my opinion that they peaked with Meliora. Also Impera was so weak it made me retroactively like Infest more

Still holding out for a full Doors-type psych record. The potential's been there for years
>>
Skeletal is their best album thoughever
>>
>>127731034
It's because they gradually stopped taking themselves seriously
>>
>>127732056
>implying they were ever serious
Their whole satanic Catholicism thing is something 13 year olds find amusing.
Their adult fanbase reminds me of Disney adults or Mandalorian fans. Unironically liking GWAR is more respectable.
>>
>>127732447
>implying they werent
pretty sure they were successfully anonymous for the first 4 years or so but okay

They clearly make albums with live shows first in mind now. If you saw them live you'd get it.
I think Skeleta sucks compared to Preqelle and everything before it, but seeing them play some of the tracks from it live was an unforgettable experience. Side note, he is extremely based for forcing a no phone policy on the Skeleta tour, it was awesome to see a modern concert with zero phones out
>>
>>127731034
First album is just good retro rock that's been done before. Why the fuck would you think he doesn't want to develop and expand his music?
>>
>>127735255
Literally everything's been done before

YEAH MAN EXACTLY!

I thought I was the only one who noticed this, their first one is pure gold, like, one of the finest records ever even, it blends modernity with classic rock from the 70s like grunge did but with some guitar pop driven approach and then there's the sound aesthetic itself and the compositions are so excellent, satan prayer, Elizabeth, stand by him... Elizabeth in particular is my favourite one because I used to love a girl called Izabel which is Spanish for Elizabeth and the vibe is different.
>>
Why don’t I hear about black magic ss anymore?
>>
>>127731034
It was over when they did mary on a cross and all the transexuals called lillith flocked to ghost, the music might be ok but the smell is terrible
>>
>>127731034
hhhmmmmmmmmmmm......... Meliora best one
>>
>>127731034

Because in the beginning the players wrote the parts, later on Forge consolidated and went strictly for the hired gun approach with the ghouls. The early stuff is by Real Ones. Was even a lawsuit involved i believe.
>>
>>127731034
Simon Soderberg and Martin Persner. After they left it all went downhill
>>
>>127736970
You know a musician is an egomaniac when the rest of the band are faceless mooks. I saw Les Claypool and the rest of the band had pig face masks it seemed self centred; then he didn't even play Tommy The Cat or Mary The Ice Cube and everyone seemed mad
>>
>scooby doo chase music
>good
lol
lmao

Their best is actually Infestissumam

Ghost is gay as fuck. Have you seen what their fans look like these days?? Holy fucking LMAO. They are the weirdest, gayest, cringiest outcast faggot goth losers I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t pay me to go to one of their shows.
>>
>>127731034
>the commercialization of the upside down cross lol
>”muh Satanism! I’m SaNtaNiZeD!”
>goodwill ghetto version of KISS

Nah, I’m good. I’ll listen to actual evil music if I want to. Ghost can fuck off and die.
>>
>>127731424
Also he's not nearly as much a character as Arthur Brown, whom is arguably his heaviest inspiration
>>
>Ghost
>Good
>>
>>127731034
loaded question, false premise
all ghost albums are good.
>>
>>127738561
Nothing remotely goth about Ghost or their fanbase.
>>
>>127738561
Yeah I rode the train with a group of them when Ghost came to town. Fat chicks with a bisexual flag pinned on their backpack and a fat, short guy with a non binary flag and a furry patch. Very cringe. Sounds like a parody a boomer conservative would come up with on Facebook.
>>
>>127738561
the people watching at their concerts is top tier, it honestly adds to the experience. It's like they all walked through a hot topic, then a spirit of halloween, then waltzed up to the concert with zero self-awareness. The occasional smells were not pleasant though, you'd really think they'd shower and brush their teeth before dressing up. also there was an INSANE spread of demographics, from boomers to gen z, that was the most shocking.
but lucky for me I have a master's degree in separating the art from the artist/fanbase, and I'd see them again, 10/10
>>
>>127741813
imagine being a member of ghost and having to go city to city pretending to like these wastes of life. fat, flyover retard single mom 420 friendly walmart shopping nothings
i think i might just quit playing guitar. i never want people like that to hear or enjoy what i'm doing, much less try to associate with me because of it.

>I have a master's degree in separating the art from the artist/fanbase
You have no business on /mu/, kindly leave
>>
>>127738561
It's like black metal but wholesome. Bring the whole family. You know the guy on the left is somebody's accountant.
>>
>>127738561
The gimmick is they wear costumes so of course the fanbase is full of nerds. Same shit with Slipknot and other gimmick bands.
>>
>>127731034
went somewhere in public and saw the most normie looking girl walking around in a ghost t-shirt. are they big with normies now?

Precisely. These “people” are the weirdo loser dregs of society that only come out when gay bands like this come to town. Kek
